I think its now obvious that Lampard has been holding Mikel back all these years.

I have Mikel on my FIFA 13 Ultimate Team & he always finds the back of the net. Ok maybe not every match, but in a season he will get 2 or 3 goals for me.

That was really funny last 5 minutes or so at the Bridge. Every time Mikel touch the ball whole stadium screamed "SHOOT!" and lot of fun on stands as well.

Ah sorry mate, I did want to come in so we could have our own celebration but I had people round - a lot of them looked quite shocked at my reaction.

Brilliant - love that he has a sense of humour about it, to be honest I hope it made his day as much as it made mine...

It seems fitting that he has scored at a time when he's been one of our better players this year as well. Seems like a genuine guy. Well in John Obi

Obi has matured as a man great amount. He seems like a humble and nice bloke which in this footballing world is not that common.

There is always the two camps on Mikel; he contributes nothing or he is solid DM that does good work that is not too apparent to the eye.

I think he is both. In some games he is useless and in some he is just very valuable.

Let the goalscoring spree continue =)

I think he's made a few toure esque bursts this season. he isnt the fastest but he is strong on the ball and I think its something he should keep doing. In the past he has tended to check back and play it simple which stops us countering. Now if he can start playing a few more killer balls I think he can win a few of the doubters over.

I've been really happy with him this season as well.  He deserves to be starting at the moment.  The goal couldn't have come at a better time in the terms of squad morale.  His scoring has been a running joke for years and everyone looked especially delighted for him.

luckily the games in which he is very valuable tend to be the big games (i.e Champions League Final). not always the best performer, but he's a big-game player and thats why jose likes him, and why i wouldnt leave him out of any final
