Zouma - If Kurt's Happy, I'm Happy!

Featured Replies

Does anyone here know how long-term the effects of this could be in regards to his pace and such?

Pace / Jumping is likely to be effected.

Bearing in mind Zouma relies on his physicality a lot more than his tactical brain, it could be a massive blow to his career.

Hopefully, because he's young, it may not have the same effect it would on say a 28 year old.

Some players never come back from bad ACL injuries. He's still young so he's more likely than some others to bounce back.

What makes this worse is, although he probably wouldn't have played much, he's now going to miss Euro 2016 in his own country.

Not a very bright season, is it. Hopefully he heals well and won't rush back.

I dare say, what else could possibly go wrong now?  :face_palm:

It may stabilise his knee, so improve him, or he may have some residual pain.

Depends almost entirely on his rehab. If he commits to it then he's got a chance of it not making a huge difference and six months is certainly at the low end of the scale when it comes to ACL injuries.

But it's a very serious injury and it's only recently been the case that it's not a real career-ender so there's no certainty either way. The general rule is that it's 6-9 months to get back to playing and then the same again to get back to the same level. Some come back quicker, some slower and some never. Just a sh*tty situation all around.

6 month recovery seems pretty optimistic.  And that doesn't take into account the mental recovery time.  Extremely sad for Kurt and I wish him a very speedy recovery.

He's young and fit, so shouldn't be any complications like arthritis and such. As you say a speedy recovery wished.

I think someone said the first time for a young man and this has not that career affecting as it may seem. Essien for example had a bunch of these and he was an older player.

is he the first player we have had, of whom has had a terrible long term injury like this? i don't remember many players with bad injuries for us.

I guess the only silver lining with this bad injury to Kurt is that maybe the team will re-sign JT for another season.

It could very well mean that Terry is suddenly offered a new contract.

I think that this does signal that we will be looking at another CB in the Summer.
