Ramires - anyone else frustrated?

Featured Replies

Slated the guy a lot before but he's been very good when he's played tbh. Very good decision by mourinho to identify the problem with fabregas and bring on ramires. Play a 4-3-3 with him there vs city

Still not convinced tbh ... The occasional brilliance but mostly gives the ball away, often in compromising positions ... upgrade long overdue for me.

It was a good thing that Fabregas had to go off with his knock.

Ramires' energy meant he was able to cover a lot of ground and give Matic true freedom on occasions.

A few bad passes, some awful finishing; but the guy is a pest, one of the quickest and most durable players in the world.

Probably the biggest factor in us not conceding last night.

Him returning from injury is a huge boost to our title charge

Yup, his shooting and passing may have been a little off but bloody hell he's been injured for what seems like years - those things only really return after you start to play matches, totally different to training. Really hope he starts against City if Fabregas doesn't make it... Normally I'd want him to start every game but in the big ones you can't really look past Oscar, Matic and Fabregas in the middle three, so it'll be hard for him to break it up.

I've criticised him in the past, mainly because I don't think he's a good enough player to carry that midfield but used correctly he's a real asset. Him returning is a massive boost for us and the energy he injects really does enable other players a little more freedom. Just don't shoot. You ain't Essien.

Our best half season for many years has co-incided with Rambo's long absence ... Personally, I don't think this is a co-incidence. The Team's more disjointed when he's playing IMHO ... I accept he has the occasional outstanding game ... occasional ...

He is a reasonable replacement for Matic in certain games, provided he keeps his cool. I am very glad to have him back.

He was excellent yesterday. I felt that Cesc was getting a bit lost when the pace of the game went through the roof.

When Rami came on he obviously misplaced passes and shanked shots, as you'd expect, but his overall game was very good. Broke up Liverpool's play regularly.

Delighted to have him back, he provides something that nobody else in our midfield can, a genuine box-to-box threat whose pace and energy is as impressive as anybody else in the league, despite his inconsistent passing and first touch. I know the change was motivated by injury rather than strategy but he provides a completely different option to Fabregas if the latter is playing badly or is being denied any time on the ball. They're the ultimate craft vs graft duo, although they clearly need another midfielder on defensive duties behind them, as evidenced by the last 20 minutes of the Bradford game.

Been a funny old season for Ramires this one, I wonder if he will still be here next season?

Might not be universally agreed but I wouldn't say no to that Verratti lad replacing him.

I've been wanting him to stay because I think he is a good squad player but I'm really losing my patience with him now, he plays like a Championship footballer, he has been poor for two seasons now.

All he appears to be is just legs, if we can get a good price on him in the summer I don't think I would say no.

Jose seems to like him.

I too think we need a better ball player as back up but I suppose Jose sees his versatility as an invaluable asset.

Its funny how you label disrespectful and ungrateful those who suggest replacing Oscar with Pogba, yet Rami for Veratti is fair game. How Oscar tops Rambo in your list of players we should be most grateful to i do not know.

If you think me saying that "I wonder if Ramires will be here next season" is equal to what's be said about some of our players in rumour threads then clearly you haven't been paying attention.

I like Verratti but the guy is barely 5 and a half feet, is not very fast, seems to have discipline issues and would probably cost close to 30m. I would take Sami Khedira on a free transfer or Gundogan (who has a year left on his contract) over him.

I wouldn't mind keeping Ramires, though I think the days of him starting in tough away matches should be over (except at the Camp Nou of course). His work rate and energy doesn't quite make up for the lack of a football brain.

I just found Veratti quite endearing, I liked that he was fighting for every ball, stood up to be counted on a big European night.

Looked comfortable and confident in possession and distributed the ball well.

I'm not saying we should go for him, I just like what I've seen of him is all... As you say, he'd probably cost a lot for what would effectively be a 2nd choice spot in the squad.
