December 4, 201411 yr Liverpool ground expansion starts next monday http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-30327242 We need to get a move on PS that article was definitely written by a dipper Not sure many clubs would get a reference to their historic trophy achievements as part of a stadium expansion story. The cynic in me says that although the ground capacity will be increased, what will the quality of the seating be in terms of view etc? A third tier, are the fans just going to be up with the gods and handed a complimentary oxygen mask on the way in? That said, they're increasing their ground capacity to a number which we're also keen to do and they're doing it for "just" £100m I bet if Chelsea were somehow to find a way to be allowed to expand Stamford Bridge it would cost a hell of a lot more than that.
December 4, 201411 yr Oh yeah, i hate that one, same with Valenthia instead of Valencia. That's actually fairly annoying now that I think of it, but surely the one that takes the cake is 'Tharagotha' instead of Zaragoza. It makes them sound like they all have a lisp! December 4, 201411 yr "Barth-el-ona", not "Barsa-lona" I like it. Its the way the natives say it. Not putting the effort in is just ignorant :) PS I never say Barh-el-ona if speaking with my commoners....... but I would if I was speaking to a Spaniard / Catalan person. December 4, 201411 yr He wouldn't go to Madrid as he's at Atleti boy (yes I know he's not Spanish but he still played for them). Barcelona perhaps but do they need him? Would he even want to go? He's the main man, challenging for honours and playing with some pretty decent players. Italy is a step down and to be honest what's the challenge if he goes to Munich? I think he'll stay for a good few years. Since when did loyalty come into consideration when deciding on future clubs? A player could have played for a team for 5+ years, but if the contract looks good, a player will most likely move. I know there's no loyalty in football, and world class quality players will rarely stay at one club for the rest of their careers any more. Money is the most important thing (no matter what any player says), then the chance of winning trophies and prestige follow closely in 2nd place.
December 4, 201411 yr Yaya's a great player but would you want him in your club? 32 before the end of the season and moans about birthday cakes...I'd take Matic every day of the week because he actually seems to like being a part of the football club. Of City's team the only obvious one I'd have is Kompany and I've said that for years. Aguero is obviously a brilliant player but I'm very happy with what we have. What I guarantee is that not a single Chelsea fan would want Pellegrini whereas I suspect a few City fans might like Mourinho, even if it's only in a pragmatic, business-only manner. Thinking about the squad, I'd certainly take David Silva, Dzeko and Fernando too. In terms of starting XI's though I don't think any of there players would do better than the players we already have operating in their current roles.

December 4, 201411 yr Sorry a couple of days late, I've been busy. Stevie Me scores & assists against Leciester & all of a sudden he's some footballing God according to the press. Yes thats right folks LECIESTER, the bottom club in the league, not a combination of Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich & Man City, lets get the perspective here, it was LECIESTER!!
December 4, 201411 yr I was just mucking about on youtube and came across a video where Fabregas was asked who's the funniest/best character in the Chelsea side and he said, Diego Costa, I have to say I'm a little surprised by that, I thought it would be Drogba or Hazard, Obviously before it was David Luiz I think. With Arsenal their best/funniest is Podolski by a country mile and for us it's Kolarov, It was Micah Richards but now it's Kolarov, He does videos on the official website of him singing Christmas Carols with a mean Serbian twist to it, He's also done a video of him boxing the kit man who had Dzeko as his personal trainer and we're also lining him up to do some more Christmas Carol singing this year, He also takes part in a video along with many other City players who have to watch funny youtbe clips and try to not laugh, He wins as everyone else cracks up but not him Lol Whilst you get some rubbish on our youtube website, You occasionally get a corker.
December 4, 201411 yr Gerrard to play for Liverpool till he's 65!!http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/sport/sport-headlines/liverpool-to-let-gerrard-play-until-he-is-60-2014120493525

That's all.
December 4, 201411 yr While we are on the topic of how to pronounce things can anyone tell me why everyone says Berry instead of Bury ? I have never understood why we don't just say Bury. I mean, it's written Bury, so why not just say Bury ?
December 4, 201411 yr Due to the Madrid rivalry I don't think he would go there. That's all. He actually said he would have joined Real Madrid if they made an offer, they didn't so he went to City.
December 4, 201411 yr i see Liverpool's expansion plans will see corporate hospitality seats double from 3500 to 7000. that's about 15% of the new capacity. i can see the economic case for this but is it the beginning of the end for Liverpool's working class ethic? seems the prawn sandwich brigade will be out in force at the new Anfield or will they? Liverpool doesn't have the glamour of London for the big corporates and financiers; they don't have the sheik appeal of City or the status of United. Seems that like most clubs owned by passionless Americans, Liverpool are on a journey to a soul-less future where the owners' only concern is where the next dollar's going to come from.
December 4, 201411 yr He actually said he would have joined Real Madrid if they made an offer, they didn't so he went to City.Really? Fair enough then!

December 4, 201411 yr One thing I really hate is southerners, especially media presenters who say Newcassell. For me it always has to be Noo-car-saul.
December 4, 201411 yr A lot of online newspaper websites running the story about United having another £150 million to spend between now and next summer and that they want to become the new Real Madrid by having a whole host of galacticos in their side, Manchester Evening News ran the initial story, I laughed it off at first but the mail, mirror and I think telegraph all going with it. First reaction to it is, Why do they do this now days? By releasing this information to the press all they are doing is increasing the value of their possible transfers. Secondly is it me or since Gill has moved on and Woodward has come in, United have been talking a lot more about their club from a marketing stand point? They no longer seem to have this desire of wanting to dominate Europe and win trophies but more have this obsession with wanting to be the best 'brand', Or is this behaviour a subliminal waving of the white flag to us and Chelsea? Do they think they no longer can challenge for trophies on a consistent basis because Chelsea and City have their feet so far in the door that by using their stature they can nullify losses of not winning major trophies by just marketing the club in a more powerful and financially rewarding way? The words 'New Real Madrid' irk me because Real Madrid have only won I think 2 league titles and 2 champions leagues in the 12/13 years since the start of their galacticos buying movement, Is that what United want to aspire to? Yes from a marketing standpoint Real have done very, very, very well but if you ask any person which side has won more trophies in the last 12/13 years, Real or Barca and Barca win at a canter. December 4, 201411 yr Let me just give you the list of players they are being reported as having interests in, Godin, Strootman, Hummels, Robben and Dani Alves/Nathaniel Clyne. Edited December 5, 201411 yr by Kinkladze1871
December 5, 201411 yr They have spent a fortune already this year and still look average...without a real plan and transfer strategy, it doesn't work...we have bought players for big money in the past to make statements, like sheva and Torres, but they didn't fit into our style,or gameplan...thankfully ffp is making us think more wisely about how we spend now and with a manager in place to pick what is needed and not roll over for what roman wants...far from statement of intent, Utd just look like they're still panicking
December 5, 201411 yr Kinda concerned really. Don't think United will be affected by FFP because they self-generate that kind of money (at least not to the same extent that us or City would be). Hopefully it's all talk though and/or they mess up with some of their transfers!
December 5, 201411 yr If they keep building their brand they can afford to have sh*te seasons because all the annoying fans will continue to buy their kids all the sh*te merchandise that they peddle. They are sadly head and shoudlers above the rest of us in the premier league and are never going to suffer for long. Once they buy a commander in the middle and a couple of killer centre backs they will be challenging again. Has to be said though, barring any big exits like Hazard etc, we should be challenging for the next 4 or 5 years. Edited December 5, 201411 yr by Zola
December 5, 201411 yr in terms of revenue, utd are clearly in a league of their own...but throwing money at the team won't solve all their problems...utd have a lot of dead wood to get rid of, plus their two main strikers Rooney and van persie aren't getting any younger...mata has been there five minutes and already there is constant talk he will be sold.. like I said, there doesn't seem to be a clear plan in place...one of the reasons why fabregas and costa have worked so well as signings is because they slotted into a team where the foundations were built...i'm sure utd will buy some defenders next summer, but there are so many holes in their squad, I'm not sure £150m will cut the gap that much...plus people should remember, we will strengthen again too
December 5, 201411 yr When you look back , the foundation of Utds success was the perfect storm of the Nevilles, Giggs, Scholes, Beckham etc coming from the youth system. They had that amazing nucleus which they could just supplement with the odd player every season. That has all dried up now and those players have all retired. With nothing coming through their youth system, couple with the financial expectation to grow (look at the impact of no Champions League on their balance sheet), they have no alternative but to buy and buy big. Quite amusing that the Utds and the dippers of this world lambasted us for 'buying success' when they were always sitting on dodgy ground themselves.
December 5, 201411 yr The improvement that £150m would make to united would be compatible to us spending £30-40m. While they might have a financial edge we are far more advanced in having a balanced team and when they're panicking over paying for players just to fill gaps we can bide our time and make sure we find the right player at the right time that suits us. Also I feel we are as much of a package now and are the most attractive team in the PL for any player. Our wages may be smaller but if its a bidding war and were keen I'm sure we can find some wiggle room and be fine for FFP.
