October 2, 201411 yr I don't want to put the mockers on you boys but everything seems to be falling into place for Chelsea this year. Fool's Gold mate. CFC always have good starts. Everything start to fade in Late Nov, December. Talk to me in Feb or March & we can make the proper assessment.
October 2, 201411 yr Who else is there? Crouch hasn't started the season too badly, you've got the young lad Berahino doing alright at West Brom. Emile Heskey is always available too.
October 2, 201411 yr Leonardo Ulloa? Graziano Pelle? Have they been in England long enough? All for Berahino though, he looks like a strong player with a good eye for goal. I would give either Wayne Routledge or Nathan Dyer a call too. Edited October 2, 201411 yr by Butterhampton FC
October 2, 201411 yr RAWK are actually calling for Rafa to return. Never in a million years. I know there's a lot of people that love him still, but the style of football under RB was mainly dull and cautious, to be kind.
October 2, 201411 yr Never in a million years. I know there's a lot of people that love him still, but the style of football under RB was mainly dull and cautious, to be kind. What's your view please of the suggestion that (put simply) Rafa inherited a very good team, courtesy of Houlier, and did well with that team. Could another manager have taken Liverpool further, with the foundations put in place by Houlier?

Could another manager have taken Liverpool further, with the foundations put in place by Houlier? I didn't particularly like Houllier either. Remember watching us in Brcelona in 2001 play the most outrageous defensive game ever to get a nil nil. Some thought it tactically sound, but to me it was just the strangest game I ever watched. Found him to be the master of caution. 'defend the point you start with' and try to build on that seemed to be his way about things. I don't think the 05 team was that good. You could tell it was our year all the way for some reason. That 05 side contained a certain Djimi Traore, and the legendary Harry Kewell, who even got a start, against all the odds, and sanity. I don't think Rafa ever learned how to approach the PL properly, hence the many disappointing seasons.

I would give either Wayne Routledge or Nathan Dyer a call too. Nathan Dyer not getting a single call up is really unfair. He hasn't had an average season for Swansea yet, he is very consistent for them. What else does he need to do to get a call up ? Townsend has been back for 2 minutes and he is back in the England squad. That is just lazy from Hodgson, does he even watch football ? Townsend has been good for about 2 months of his career and he is in the England squad, what a crock.
October 2, 201411 yr http://www.buzzfeed.com/pawnzischeme/10-hot-soccer-players-whose-names-you-wish-you-cou-10p4g Just saw this post on Buzzfeed. Not focusing on whether these players are attractive, curious as to whether Americans are worse at pronunciation of other languages than Europeans are. Is it because I'm a football fan that I know how to pronounce these names? Or do you all think any average English, French, Spanish, German, etc person could pronounce these names better than an American?
October 2, 201411 yr Honestly f**k the FA. I fully support Liverpool on this action good for them for protecting their player by not letting the FA call him up. I'm sick and tired of these pointless internationals f**king up the season by getting players injured. If it's the World Cup ok you'd let them go because of the importance by the club should have the right to refuse call ups if it's a friendly or if the opponent is extremely low ranked by FIFA. I hope Liverpool do play Sturridge this weekend and stick 2 fingers up to the asshats. I'd have thought that 90 mins action against San Marino would sharpen Sturridge up for the league campaign. On your other point the structire of football involves internationals. We all look forward to watching the Euros and World Cup Tournaments so either players participate or they don't. Many foreign players are very proud to play for their countries, how many of them would regularly come to play in England if we adopted the restrictions you want placed and stick two fingers up to each governing body. I would question Sturridge desire to play for England if he is fit and allowing himself to be denied the opportunity even to join up with the group by his manager. As for the injuries they happen, be it a light training session or a full blown match, yes they are annoying but sometimes its just down to luck.

San Marino is a good match to see if he fitted in with the group. Not sure why Townsend has been selected tbh.

October 2, 201411 yr Did Adebayor just refuse to give Eriksen his man of the match award after the game? Or was it a joke? I only saw it on a vine and he looked serious but obviously it's not going to show you the full thing. You see I actually wouldn't be surprised if Adebayor did do that.
October 2, 201411 yr Good old Demba. Given he had so little chance to do anything for us, one of the most popular ex-players we have...Anfield was great, but doing anything to upset spurs is always great to see Edited October 2, 201411 yr by The Brit
October 2, 201411 yr Given he had so little chance to do anything for us, one of the most popular ex-players we have...Anfield was great, but doing anything to upset spurs is always great to see He got a very unfair amount of game time, his goal ratio was actually good when compared to minutes but it looks bad when it's caps because he came on in like the 88th minute for almost about 10 separate games last season.

That was from last season wasn't it ? I just looked it up on Youtube and it was from the game where Tottenham beat Sunderland 5-1.
October 3, 201411 yr History. Hmm. We seem to benefit from it. I'm talking about European games and CL to be precise. We've been in the comp for over 10 years and always doing well. Constantly beating big european sides. Some english teams apart from ManU and Arsenal think they can waltz into elimination phaze in Europe. Spurs, Everton, City and now Liverpool. They all seem to struggle. Liverpool has a great history in it but now that they are in CL again they are not really setting the world alight.
October 3, 201411 yr Rodgers has done an interview with the mirror where he repeatedly refers to Balotelli as a "calculated risk". Says he isn't scoring as many goals or getting as many assists as would be expected if him and basically says he wasn't their first choice striker this summer but because it was so late in the window there wasn't anyone else available. Meanwhile over at Stamford Bridge: Diegoooooooal Costa!

October 3, 201411 yr So who realistically was their first choice? I thought rumour had it that they stopped pursuing Remy because Mario was available?
