October 3, 201411 yr So who realistically was their first choice? I thought rumour had it that they stopped pursuing Remy because Mario was available? http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/liverpools-calculated-gamble-mario-balotelli-4368569#ixzz3F1g2Qy4i Full article here, he says other bids failed to materialize.... Which to me sounds like players rejected them and at the last minute they had to settle on Balotelli.
October 3, 201411 yr I`m sure the completely mentally stable Balotelli will love hearing he was last choice and isnt being appreciated. That will definitely end well.
October 3, 201411 yr I`m sure the completely mentally stable Balotelli will love hearing he was last choice and isnt being appreciated. That will definitely end well. Its a strange choice of words isn't it? Basically pinning the blame on him for their failings. I dont recall us ever being so harsh with Torres, especially so soon. Towards the end Mourinho was obviously frustrated with him, but the club always tried to support him and keep face.

Towards the end Mourinho was obviously frustrated with him, but the club always tried to support him and keep face. Not with Torres no, not until the end. But Jose was a bit harsh on Eto'o and Ba I thought last season when he kept saying we had no strikers. I'm sure he had his reasons, but I don't think we can be too quick to criticise Rodgers (much as I hate to admit it).
October 3, 201411 yr Rapid Vienna is inviting fans along - at a charge - to help demolish the club's old ground and collect souvenirs. http://www.whoateallthepies.tv/newsnow/200544/rapid-vienna-invite-fans-along-to-help-demolish-their-gerhard-hanappi-stadium.html In a bid to dismantle their old stadium and raise a bit of cash in the process, Rapid Vienna are holding a “Demolition Party” for their fans this coming Saturday. The party basically entails Rapid fans paying for the privilege of being allowed to unscrew seats, chisel away walls, slicing up the goal-nets and hacking up the turf at the club’s now-defunct Gerhard Hanappi Stadium. For just €5 you can take home a wedge of the turf; €18.99 gets you a swatch of the nets and a €19.77 ticket will get you a seat – with supporters being allowed to take home as much as they can carry if they’re willing to pay for it. “We will provide the necessary tools, naturally with all safety precautions taken into account and with employees standing by,” the club said on their official site. In case you were wondering, the big destructive shindig has come about as Rapid are on the verge of moving into a brand new, 22,000-capacity stadium in 2016 while playing their home games at the Ernst Happel Stadium in the meantime. I remember the last game of season 96-97. Had a ST in the West Stand at that time. After the end of that season, work was going to start on the re-development of the West Stand. At the end of the game some fans were trying to remove the wooden seats in the West Stand. A bit of a challenge as the seats were bolted to wrought iron supports. One or two succeeded. During the close season I went to the Bridge and noticed that the club was selling the seats for £300. Not sure how many were sold. A nice memento but at £300?

October 3, 201411 yr Another shout for Dembas goal. Thought he had a good game for them last night. He was great, played like he had a point to prove.
October 3, 201411 yr Messi to face tax evasion charges. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-29479772 Barcelona and Argentina star Lionel Messi is to face court trial for alleged tax evasion, a Spanish judge has ruled. The judge rejected a prosecution recommendation to drop the charges on the grounds the player's father was responsible for his finances. Messi and his father Jorge are accused of defrauding the authorities of more than 4m euros (£3.1m; $5m). The pair, who deny wrongdoing, have five days to appeal against the ruling. It is alleged that they withheld the money between 2007 and 2009. The income related to Messi's image rights, including contracts with Banco Sabadell, Danone, Adidas, Pepsi-Cola, Proctor and Gamble, and the Kuwait Food Company. The judge ruled: "In this type of crime, it is not necessary for someone to have complete knowledge of all the accounting and business operations nor the exact quantity, rather it is sufficient to be aware of the designs to commit fraud and consent to them." Sure he or Barca will find the money. He's not short of cash. However, £3.1m is nothing compared to what the likes of Vodafone, Starbucks etc owe in tax,
October 3, 201411 yr It's sickening to see someone who makes that much money try and keep a little bit more, especially with a country like Spain being in so much financial trouble.
October 3, 201411 yr It's sickening to see someone who makes that much money try and keep a little bit more, especially with a country like Spain being in so much financial trouble. Sadly, some people just get too greedy despite earning vast amounts of money. As you say, especially when Spain is in financial trouble and a lot of people are struggling to make ends meet.
