Just had a thought, Benitez is loved by Liverpool fans yet in some way he was kind of responsible for their title challenge going to sh*t back in 13-14.

Here's what I mean:

- a Liverpool asked on this site who Benitez signed when he was in charge of Chelsea. The answer: Demba Ba (ok he was probably a club signing but Benitez was there)

- who did Steven Gerrard lose the ball to as he slipped? yep Demba Ba

This adds a whole new hilarious dimension to it

Didn't he get found out smoking in the showers after a game or something? And thats why he got dropped?

Clearly does not give a f**k, he's made enough money and taken enough w**ky selfies.

Yep! Guys an idiot

^ Depends really. I think Milner is average, with flashes of above-average play and skill every 3 matches or so. There is no denying he is a work-horse, just depends on whether Brenda uses him properly, we know he is tactically useless.

Milner officially announced by Liverpool: http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/186300-liverpool-agree-deal-to-sign-milner

Still to come: the statement re: the history and integrity of LFC being the primary factor in his decision.

That signing is the start of something big for Liverpool, i think it's their year; you heard it here first - well, RAWK first, here second.

I think he's a good buy for them, I don't agree that he's average. I often think people label players like that simply because they aren't show ponys. Milner puts in that work rate that wins you football matches and that's a quality that is vastly underrated in this sport far to often.

Good player, good signing, but wont really have that much impact on their team to move them into the top 4.

Strange move for him.

He will get more playing time but he has just dented his hopes of more silverware.

I actually thought he'd stay because he was starting to be a regular fixture in their team towards the end of the season.

Can't see this move changing anything for Liverpool.

money talks.

So the rumour is that Milner is getting £150k p/w from Liverpool for 4-5 years.

exactly, the dippers spending and wage bill is hilarious esp compared to what theyve won in the last 10 years!

Good player, as others have said he works hard, takes a bit more than hard work to make the top 4 though.

And that's pretty much it. He'll put in a shift but to what end?

If you're spending that much money on a player then you're looking for a matchwinner and I don't think he can do that at Liverpool. He's basically Ramires and we pay our Ramires about half what Milner will be reportedly earning.

But this is what small clubs do - overpay for squad players from the big clubs. United did the same with Mata and Di Maria.

So the rumour is that Milner is getting £150k p/w from Liverpool for 4-5 years.

And yet they didn't want to offer Sterling, their best player, more than £90k a week.

Work that one out.

City offered the same wages.

Well that's just ridiculous from Liverpool who don't even have CL to supplement wages like that.

However it's great news for the rest of us.

Than again we are alleged to pay a 29 year old even more money so maybe I shouldn't laugh.

Depends what reports you read. Apparently even if they did he wouldn't accept it. Not much you can do beyond that

City offered the same wages.

According to The Guardian City were offering £15k a week more than the offer he's accepted from Liverpool.

I don't think this move was money motivated but at 29 I think he wants assurances he'll be playing and starting more games than not.

It's all got a bit messy now but early on Rogers basically came out saying "we've offered this much, it's a good deal for a young player, he should take it".

He was basically backed into a corner by the club to accept the new contract and when he dared say "actually, I'm not sure this is what I want for my career" then they've turned on him.

Not saying that had Liverpool offered him £100k+ he would have stayed but there was clearly a stance taken that they wouldn't meet his demands and yet 6 months later they sign a player and immediately stick him on wages far exceeding what Sterling (allegedly) was asking for.

No idea why he left, he played as many games as Kompany and Fernandinho who are both starters. Started a bunch of CL games, including both legs against Barcelona. Only reason he didn't play more towards the end of the season was because he kept rejecting their contract offers so they weren't going to waste time playing someone who was going to leave.

Maybe he doesn't like Pelligrino?
