RLC would be so much more influential than Baka right now, surely Conte and the board can see that.

I would of thought Conte could see Drinkwater could do more than Bakayako at the moment but he hasn't...

Leave him at Palace til the end of the season.

Agree Jack, perhaps Conte thinks Drinkwater is not match fit after his last injury.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek: Crystal Palace midfielder 'out for months'

Crystal Palace midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek could be ruled out for several months after manager Roy Hodgson said his ankle injury is worse than first thought and may require surgery.

The on-loan Chelsea player, 21, has not featured since 28 December due to what was thought to be a minor injury.

But Hodgson said Loftus Cheek could now be a doubt for this summer's World Cup.

"The injury is more severe than we originally thought, or perhaps hoped, it would be," said Hodgson

Loftus-Cheek enjoyed an impressive start to his season-long stay with Palace, resulting in England manager Gareth Southgate handing him an international debut against Germany at Wembley in November, followed by a second cap in the subsequent meeting with Brazil.

His hopes of making the plane to Russia in the summer are currently in the balance, however, with Hodgson unsure when he will be available again."I would be very disappointed, surgery or no surgery, if he's not playing before the end of the season," Hodgson said,

"We certainly want him to be and I would presume Chelsea would want him to be because they might like to have a player who's going to be selected for England in their squad but there's literally nothing we can do about it.

"The only way he can make himself available for Crystal Palace or England is to be fit and at the moment that isn't the case."

Loftus-Cheek is currently receiving treatment from medical staff at Palace and Chelsea.

Asked whether he could be a doubt for the World Cup in Russia, which kicks off on 14 June, Hodgson replied: "I don't know.

"I don't want to go into that at the moment because we don't know how long it would take after surgery to get him fit again."

May as well recall him then if it's going to be months. Get him working with our medical team and he could then be an option toward the end of the season.

always been the way with loftus-cheek, can't stay fit for a consistent time. it could be his body still developing into his frame, but it's frustrating he can't stay fit for a whole season.

He is working with our medical team along side Palaces.

Yes it's the downsides for his wonderful talent, he is not consistent physically... 

What is his injury though? He's not exactly been ran into the ground.

He should be settling into his frame by now because he's already 6ft+.

He was the star boy in the classroom. Now he's 22 years old and has got the skill, pace and physical attributes to be a star outside the classroom. He needs to take the game by the scruff of the neck and dominate. That comes with a strong mentality. I think he needs to toughen up in that respect.

That's where I'd like to see him play. He needs to take more responsibility on the pitch instead of just drifting around on the periphery. He's miles better than that.

His injury problems, rather than lack of talent, is his biggest hurdle to making a big impact on the game
