Cuadrado - Chelsea's #23

Featured Replies

He is a player for next season.

.....it's still early days.

Who's got the next cliche?

We will probably sell him in January and buy another lame ass winger.

Now that DOES sound like someone writing him off!!

Mourinho wouldn't pay 27m for a player he didn't believe would be successful. However it looks at time he tends to make the most effective decisions for the team's success.

But what if it is a club signing and not a Mourinho signing?

Say the main goal was to allow Schurrle to leave because the Wolfsburg offer was too good to turn down in that maybe something happened with Schurrle where the club felt they couldn't keep him (this mystery illness thing maybe?).

So out goes Schurrle but we're light on numbers so the club sign a replacement (Cuadrado) and more or less keep the books balanced.

But much like Salah (who I also think was a club signing and not Jose's) he doesn't quite, he spins the line about "needing time to settle" avoids playing him too much etc.

i think the days of the club pushing players on managers are gone. From every interview I've heard since Mourinho has come back, there is now a process that involves Mourinho, emanalo, and roman. There's no way Mourinho would have not given the okay to bring in cuadrado for a large chunk of money.

Not every player will hit the ground running, we know he has quality, let's just give him time. Maybe the deal would have been best in the summer, but it doesn't really matter as we are gonna win the league anyway.

There's clearly a more harmonious and co-operative system in place in terms of player acquisitions than there was beforehand; Roman has learnt from past mistakes. It's better that all parties consult each other on transfers, that way there can't be any bickering/fall out if a certain player doesn't work out.

Cuadrado doesn't look good at the moment, he evidently needs time to adapt to the demands of PL and presumably is still also trying to acclimatise to English culture. Not everyone can just take off immediately like Diego Costa. Give Cuadrado a full pre season firstly, then let's see how he starts next season.

That is a very valid point but I just assumed that Mourinho's first stint ended because of intereference from other people in the club. So he would have the main influence on transfers.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that he looks a little bit slow any time he's played? I thought he was supposed to have absolutely electric pace and was meant to be capable of burning up the pitch as he tore past defenders?

Perhaps it's just because the Italian game is much slower, perhaps it's just because he isn't fully match fit, but I've been disappointed with his pace and his apparent inability to beat a man.

And those corners

We've had plenty of players who have hardly set the world alight when they first joined, but who went on to be good players. Ramires comes to mind. His first 6 months he was woeful and I thought we'd bought a dud, but he pushed on and became a vital part of our team.

However, that being said, those players who struggled at first, usually at least showed some promising signs. For example even while Ramires was misplacing passes and losing the ball a lot, you could see he had energy and pace to burn and could drive through the middle with the ball, so there was something to build on. So far I can't think of a single positive thing Cuadrado has done. I don't think he's beaten 1 defender with the ball, or put 1 one good cross or corner or had a decent shot.

lets judge him next season and not manipulate mins played to make him look a dud, almost every time hes played, has been to do a filling in job as a sub to see us home.

i laugh at all the kneejerkers and merry bandwagon jumpers judging him a flop when hes just got in the door, lord above.
