Gonzalo Higuain

in a big match atmosphere, he is not the guy I would want to rely on. You can go by the his goal breaking season. I will base my decision on 3 pivotal matches that teams he played on needed him at his best. See what he did for Argentina in the World Cup Final. See what he did in the match between Napoli vs Lazio, when Napoli needed the win & he was taking the pk for a UCL spot. See what he did for Argentina in the Copa America Final. IMHO in all 3 of those matches he was rather underwhelming. I would not give up DC with all of his faults for Higuain.

I think he will be a great signing, especially for the position we would be in with no champions league football. I love Diego but let's be honest sometimes we can't rely on him either.

I am not opposed to getting Higuain. But for me the problem is providing them with the service so that they can try and contribute something. Diego when not given service fades away sometimes or drop down or goes out of position and hence becomes potentially making it even more ineffective. I dont want us to spend loads of money on Higuain only to have the same thing occur.

Maybe we can play them both and ask one to drop back if need be ?

That's a good point. They both depend on service from the team around them so I don't see the point in adding Higuain if we're keeping Costa. I think it could work with the two of them up top but then we'd also need two pacey wingers to offset how 'slow' those two are

Guillem Balague says Costa wants out, and Chelsea in very advanced Higuain negotiations.#CFChttp://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/guillem-balague-chelsea-in-very-advanced-negotiations-for-higuain

That would be a complete and utter disaster for us.

First time we have a decent striker since Drogba and we potentially replace him with a downgrade.

Hopefully it's media bollocks

Costa was used in the kit promo so I can't see him leaving. Everything he has said which is quoted doesn't point to him wanting to go either.

If we have any hope of getting back into the top 4 we simply cannot let him go. Take his goals away from us and it looks really grim.

Is it possible? Someone admitting he was wrong? On internet forum? No, props to you, seriously. If anyone is interested, it was this interview those quotes were taken from

Was gonna say, the bloke managed Quaresma. No way anyone could be as lazy as him.

Seems to get in good positions and score goals but not as sure about his all round game particularly without the ball. That said I could easily be talking about Jimmy Floyd in that sentence and 2000-03 Jimmy would walk into our squad now.

We can't offer champions league football. If Diego has made his mind up and wants to leave, then we should sell him for the highest price we can get for him. I am curious what other options we should go for. I don't see Greizmann leaving Madrid for us, why would he? He's in one of the top teams in the world.

Higuain is experienced and would gaurentee us goals. With the situation we are in next season, we are very much in a rebuilding stage. He's on fire at the moment. It's a no brainer if Costa wants to leave.

We won't get any top youngster unless we spend 60m+ plus and he has to be willing to spend a season(or more) out of the CL aswell. I think there's going to be alot of ins and out next season. It would make more sense to spend and sell wisely, though in the past that has not always happened...

Higuain, Troare and Pato would be a decent strike force next season. If Conte plays 2 up top, I think Higuain could mix well with both.

Guillem Balague lol

Guy talks sh*t, gets way more wrong than right. He's no better than a tabloid, you threw enough darts you're gonna hit the bullseye a few times.

He still knows more than most, he gets quite a bit wrong but also quite a bit right.

He's not a reliable source but there's definietly some truth in it.
