March 1, 20215 yr This is such a tricky one. I want tammy to do so well for the club, he bleeds blue and is an academy lad. I just don't know what to think of him. He frustrates me so much in games, is heading his terrible, he falls over in the box when a delicious cross or pass is played in behind enemy lines and you're expecting him to tap it in. He often goes through whole games contributing nothing . Then you look at his goal scoring stats and think this kid has got something. I guess what it comes down to is that he is a fairly average footballer, but someone who can and does find the net, and unfortunately at a club the size of us, with ambitions for the top prizes that just does not cut it. However, at the same time, id still want him with us, at least as a backup. I think with the top managers, and anyone other than frank, unless he is scoring every game or at least contributing heavily in game, he will either be on the sidelines or sold.

I can understand that as well. He's at an age now where his output is by all accounts good, and he needs to be playing consistently. We have a tough decisions, do we stick with him and see if he can show that next level, or do we take the gamble that he will never get that and cash in on him.
March 1, 20215 yr So he was dropped them, yeah it doesn't look good for Abraham. I think he's a good player, very frustrating at times but a good player. He should be on the bench over Emerson at the very least. The only thing is though, and it pains me to say it, I don't think he's a game changer. Someone said we could've done with him last game, I disagree, I don't think Tammy would've offered anything besides pace that GIroud couldn't offer. And with Giroud at least you know he's capable of finishing his chances and getting into the right areas, while also getting involved in the build up, Abraham at time can't deliver the goods. I feel for him, it's not a good situation, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him offloaded soon.
March 1, 20215 yr 57 minutes ago, Sindre said: Aren't people sick and tired of Werner though? I know I am. Neither he or Abraham have been anywhere near good enough is my verdict. He doesn’t get nearly the amount of stick Tammy does and certainly not judged to be a “championship striker” the way Abraham is which given his goal scoring last season is pretty insulting.
March 1, 20215 yr Tammy at his best will grab you a couple of goals with tidy finishes from smart positioning in the box. At his worst, he's like a ghost on the pitch not even capable of offering even the most basic parts of hold up or link up play. His main problem is that he can swing from his best to his worst from one game to the next... Sometimes even in the same games. Tammy's a good player but I think he needs to add more to his game than goals. He needs to be able to offer better hold up play, he's quite a big lad but sometimes it feels like he can be bullied off of the ball too easily. He's still relatively young but the question is does he want to stick around at Chelsea with us no doubt signing new strikers every couple of years or does he want to go somewhere that he's going to be getting first team football almost every week?

The falling over is annoying also, I think at his worst that's something to point out, It's frustrating that a guy who's 6'4 isn't particularly good in the air, the Tottenham games comes to mind, that was a very frustrating performance. The constant falling over aswell just pisses people off. But I agree, he's a good player and young, still learning. I think a lot of teams would snap him up if we were to let him go.

I think Tuchel is over complicating things with his changes especially in the forward areas, the fact is Tammy was our highest goal scorer last season and so far he is our highest scorer this season and to not even have him on the bench is criminal especially considering we had 2 LB's on the bench.

I don't think Tammy would've offered anything in that game though, I would rather keep Giroud on for the 90.

I agree either keep Giroud on for the 90 or replace him with Tammy but either way you need to play a genuine CF whilst looking for a goal.

Emerson played as a left sided centre back against Barnsley. Hudson-Odoi is being used as a wingback. Pulisic has been used as a centre forward/false 9. Tuchel has said he sees Havertz as suited to playing a false 9 role. So who knows how and why players are being selected on the bench with Tuchel.

The thing is, what if he goes to a ‘lesser’ premier league team & doesn’t cut it there? I also think his shortcomings would be highlighted at a team in more of a battle, he won’t give any team an outlet from pressure.

March 1, 20215 yr If by a miracle we manage to land Haaland and Giroud ends up leaving at the end of the season (Which is highly likely), I can still see Tammy getting plenty of Game time as the 2nd striker. Can somebody name a realistic Number 2 who is a better option then Tammy?

Maybe he is about to be blocked from the first team a bit like Solanke was.

I think he saw Werner being signed initially as a CF as taking his spot after battling with Giroud last season. Now with others linked like Haaland may look like being pushed further down and could be he just wants to be somewhere he likely plays often. If it ends up that way hopefully someone will pay a decent fee for him and he does not end up a reserve for 2 years.
March 1, 20215 yr I would like him to sign but, Tammy has to do what feels right for him. Personally I don't think it is just about players being signed he knows he will get game time. Remember a year ago it was being reported he was willing to sign but wanted a deal similar to CHO. I assume he is dragging his feet because he wants a better deal than what is being offered and using Haaland as a smokescreen.

March 2, 20215 yr I really hope his stalled contract is because of Halaand but I highly doubt it. For all the stats, when you watch our games, he's just not good enough. Resembles a dragon fly. Too delicate.
March 2, 20215 yr If he wants to be the big fish in a smaller tank, not much we could do to stop him from leaving. He's not going to be the starting striker in any of the top 6 teams, unless he's ready to step down, he won't get more playing time at other big teams.
March 2, 20215 yr Selling Tammy would be a huge mistake. He has already scored plenty of goals for us, and is still so young. If we sell him he'll be worth 40/50 mil in no time. I have zero doubt that we would regret it pretty quickly. Spending big on strikers hasnt been fruitful in the past for us, so what if Haaland struggles like others have? Since Costa, Giroud and Tammy have been our best goalscorers and neither was a big money signing. The club shouldnt be considering letting a proven goalscorer leave when we are once again bemoaning our lack of goals as a team! His overall performances definitely require a lot of improvement but he is one of those players that just. gets. goals. And that is PRICELESS
March 2, 20215 yr Strangely since the rumours of his contract talks stalling have started to circulate, it is now reported that several premier league & European clubs are interested in signing him, I’m sure these rumours wouldn’t have surfaced from his agent 😂
March 2, 20215 yr 8 hours ago, DidierDrogbalala said: Timo Werner I would have Timo as a third striker, both Lampard and Tuchel have come out and said he is better as an inside forward as opposed to being the main man up front.
