Is that so? I would never write it off anyway, it's something he can improve on in his young age, he definitely has the height to take advantage of it. It's just I've seen him miss some really good headers, that's my only criticism of his really, anything other than that I'm really impressed.

I agree that headers appear to be a weakness, he gets more crosses along the ground yet has missed some good opportunities in the air like against Arsenal. Looked to me like the ball bounced off his head and the heading movement came late. Perhaps a timing issue as opposed to others where he is being held.

Tammy has 13 in the PL now ... that's already 3 more than Drogs managed in his first season for us ....

He'll be kicking himself that he missed a couple of chances to make it more too.

While most people talk about the header he missed the most pleasing thing for me in his performance yesterday was how he scored. Given the keeper should have saved it but for me just as Reece is about to deliver there is a slight nudge on the defender sending him off balance. And suddenly when the ball came he had enough space to score.. you don’t reach those instincts that’s what a top quality CF knows and why I thing this kid will always score tons of goals..

Aside from the misses he had a few moments where his hold up play really stood out. A big miss when he's not on the pitch. If a Batshuayi replacement is being sought, it has to be someone who is good at playing as the line front man and link with others.

Tammy joining an exclusive club. Players who have scored 15+ in a season since Roman bought the club with Tammy not too far behind.

  • Didier Drogba (2009/2010) = 29
  • Frank Lampard (2009/2010) = 22
  • Didier Drogba (2006/2007) = 20
  • Diego Costa (2014/2015) = 20
  • Diego Costa (2016/2017) = 20
  • Nicolas Anelka (2008/2009) = 19
  • Frank Lampard (2005/2006) = 16
  • Eden Hazard (2016/2017) = 16
  • Eden Hazard (2018/2019) = 16
  • Frank Lampard (2012/2013) = 15

Tammy Abraham (2019/2020) = 13**

Tammy already scored more league goals this season than Drogba did in any other season he was here apart from the two listed ... hope he can kick on to 20+ !

He’s sh*t though according to the Old Man :laugh2:

Lots of rivals keep saying the same that he's sh*t, I don't get it. Not saying your old man is one, it's just amusing, I keep seeing it everywhere, have they not watched him play this season? His goal record doesn't do his performances justice.

I don’t know, maybe is his goal scoring so far but a modern day striker isn’t just about goals anymore.

I do enjoy nudging him in the ribs and giving him a sarcastic ‘he’s sh*t him’ when he scores though :laugh2:

Drogba that season... he was unstoppable!

If he doesn't improve we'll need to go to the market and find a first-choice striker in the summer.

Great start to the season but lately he's been very poor. 3 goals in his last 12 league games is not a good return. Should have had at least one today.

Supposedly playing with an injury today

I thought he gave all today without being 100 percent. His work with Mount to stop Leicester building up from the back was better than I've seen for a while.

There were a few moments where he looked like the old Demba Ba bambi on ice. He (and others) needed some actual studs in their boots.

We desperately needed some support for him though. Frank showed his true view of Michy towards the end.

I have touched on this a few times and again today. He needs to learn to stay on his feet more and not keep going to ground as that is what pissed me off so much about Morata.

Yeah I'd agree. But I thought he was slipping more than weak as piss like Morata.

Edit: Meanwhile Haaland scores again for Dortmund...

He looks more and more like Bambi on ice with each passing week of late. He's exceeded my expectations this season though, I didn't think he was anywhere near ready for this level of football, but he's proven that he is. I don't think his spot in the first 11 should be guaranteed next season though. Some people have said we shouldn't be signing a player that will block his development, but I think we should get the best striker we can possibly get and let them compete for the spot. There are a lot of flaws in Abraham's game that stops him becoming a top player, I don't think we should just sign a semi decent back up and hope the flaws in Abraham's game sort themselves out, we should go all out and get the best striker we can find.

Spot on.

Buying players clearly not as good as the first 11 is what has got us in this predicament in the first place.

We should buy the best that is available and let them battle it out and fill in for each other during the course of a season.

The old saying ‘you’re only as strong as your weakest link’ is very appropriate for football.

If you buy a player deliberately to be someone’s understudy then that’s exactly what your going to get.
