I agree but as individual it is one of the hardest things to do to abandon your beliefs and something that has brought you incredible success. I dont hold it against him that he didnt change, it shows a man who stands by his convictions. The same tactics brought us the league less than 6 months ago. Probably just a situation where they both needed to their seperate ways

I actually think we won the league last season in spite of the tactics not because of them ... if the team had been allowed to play with freedom all season we would have been much further ahead than 8 points.

I also think we should have won the league in his first year back; it was all going well until he started talking about losing games and all that crap about little horses ...

Much improved display. We looked dangerous going forward although I think there are still problems defensively. Matic, zouma, and Courtois, we're all below par. Oscar and pedro were great.

Personally I'm a bit disappointed in the vilification of costa, fabregas, and hazard. Everyone has a right to voice there opinion, but no one knows what has gone on behind closed doors, and it would terrible if this continued to the point of forcing 3 players out of the club based on unsubstantiated rumours.

They havent turned in a PL game like that all season. The only thing thats changed is the manager

A change is manager is a pretty huge one.

You can tell today that the players were trying things today that they wouldn't have done with Mourinho as manager, especially Oscar.

It's the one thing he got right. Selling De Bruyne was the mistake.

Yep, but don't forget Lukaku either - scored again today.

Not thinking about those two right now though.

Just looking forward to Guus and the rest of the season.

Looked like the players remembered how to have fun again today!

Only 11 points behind 4th now.

We can definitely make that up and take one of the CL places. Can't believe JM just gave up on that ...most puzzling ...

The reason he gave up was the players refused to try. He might as well said relegation a certainty. Still disgusted RA would not agree to flog the back stabbers....

I am disappointed that Mourinho has gone, just because he is such a legend at our club. But looking at the situation objectively I can understand both sides of the argument -- and hope that the board had more information to support their case (I doubt it was easy for them too). What I really don't understand is why we are jumping to conclusions about certain players... we don't know what happened, so let's not assume. How f**king horrible if the fans booing the likes of Fabregas are way off the mark. Either way what is done is done, just have to concentrate on the future now.

As for Mourinho, we will never forget his contributions and he will allways remain a legend here.

Sack immediately Oscar, Fabregas, Costa, Ivanovic and Matic and put them in the jail - they are criminals. They have contracts and if they don't do the clauses they have - should go right to the prison.

I hope you are joking?

Out of those 5 I'd say Costa is the only one who has become utterly useless - like a neutered cat. The others have just lost their form or mojo. Fabrigas really tried against Leicester when he came on but is just off the pace at the mo. Oscar showed today what he can do with the shackles off him.

And here is my main point, we can all see that Costa is total crap this season so why the f*** did Jose continually pick him. Those of us who watch games live can see his lack of movement and lack of passion. Jose surely could also see that.

i don't believe a team can ever be solid defensively if they choose to play offensive, and vice versa if a team plays defensive; there very rarely seems to be a sweet spot. i would rather we concede goals, but score more because we're attacking and not sitting on a lead. liverpool and man city in recent seasons have both been vulnerable when they decide to play ultra attacking football.

While I'm delighted we're winning, I can't help but feel disgusted the players couldn't do this for Jose

Could it be that Jose would not let them, he is defensive manager not full out attack minded.

It's effectively the exact same team we've played most of the season in the same positions. I think you're over estimating the amount of tactical changes you can make in a 2 day period since Jose was sacked

You only need one tactical change to become 100% effective & different, the tactic is defend from the front then

ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK, surprising what you can produce if needless defending is curtailed.

Am I the only who is f**king fuming with this?

It's utter bollocks. I am ashamed.

Grow up.

I am against the conspiracy theory or player power revolt , it was obvious;

Too much super-ego and Jose mania was shadowing the players & pushing them into the dark corners.

Mourinho was under the limelight with regard to everything to do with Chelsea : Jose FC

Football is about the players not the managers..agree or not..it is a sport.

My take on today's performance is simple :

1. Players are taking the matter seriously after Jose's sacking i.e. anyone can be removed by the club.

2. Eden Hazard is a problem , we seem to win when he is not on the field may be not happy or ineffective.

3. Eden hazard should only play one half each game , this way he delivers more in short space of time.

4. Costa is costly in front of the goal..wasting chances and loosing the ball + bad positioning.

5. Cesc Fabregas is not really a midfielder he is merely a striker assistant.

6. John Terry is knackered and Stones must be hoarded into the Stamford Bridge ASAP.

7. Thibaut must stop flicking the ball back to opposition strikers who then score against him.

Maybe it's because Roman actually got off his backside and had words with the squad. Maybe if he'd done it sooner and given Mou the public and private backing he should have we would be in a better position. As much as I love CFC you can't have players calling the shots; unacceptable at any club.

Maybe the catalyes left the room.

Would love it love it if Jose got the Man Ure job. Thats where he needs to go: that way the Prem gets to keep him and next summer Pep and the Sime-One join the Prem. Box office that.

What a load of bollocks.

Yeah, its just so easy, don't know why these managers can't see it. Just don't bother with needless defending, it just can't fail.

Wasn't surprised by the level of vitriol aimed at the team yesterday.

I am a bit surprised though that people are saying that because the team played well it's evidence of betrayal. This always happens when a manager gets sacked.

Furthermore credit to Holland and Newton for releasing the shackles. First time in a long time I've seen overlapping fullbacks and a freedom in the way we played. The movement was great, players took up great positions between the lines (albeit Sunderland were terrible). Oscar and Ivanovic in particular seemed far more confident and willing to try something. For all Jose's many great points that couldn't have happened under him.

Good 3 points. By my count there are still 63 points available this season. We'll need 52 minimum to make the top four. Let's string some wins together and see where it takes us.

travelling home from game now...never been at a game like it in my 30+ years as a cfc fan...have no remorse about letting players know how they let us as well as Jose down...if club aren't willing to spell it out, someone has to...

Just rewatched the game. Was fun to see a game were we actually looked like we wanted to control the ball

Not long in from the game. Relieved to get the three points. Very happy that Guus is back and happy that feelings were vented today but genuinely don't know why Costa is being singled out for special treatment. Yes he's massively out of form but I doubt he played a big part in any "revolt" or whatever other conspiracy theories are flying about. Matic got away with hardly any boos yet he's been far and away our worst player this season.
