I think a person in this role is very useful nowadays, simply because the number of responsibilities is so large that many coaches feel it's better to hand them off to other people.

But what's important to note is that we already have a chap in this role so it would be better for the new coach to not just dispose of Emenalo, but replace him with his own choice. That isn't just surrounding the guy with the best people (in his view) for the job, it's a massive statement that you're backing this new guy and is exactly the type of change I've been saying we need for a while.

I won't believe it until I see it though and if it does happen then I expect Emenalo to make a sideways move because he's Teflon.

Another thing I like is not only that Sabatini is experienced in the role, not only does he have a good track record in the role, but he's also be held accountable in a way that none of Roman's mates are.

You can guarantee that.

If Emenalo loses current role you can be sure the club will find something for him. Whether that's setting up an U 12 girls team for him to coach or becoming Roman's new chauffeur!

But the appointment of a new coach who insists on having his own team will be a great move IMO.

Conte? Not convinced .... Can see our promising collection of youth bypassed yet again for some instant gratification.

i'm all for youth being played, but at the moment who are our stand out youth products? traore is being played a bit more regular now (to my satisfaction) but loftus cheek needs to improve in a couple areas before being considered as a regular starter. who else is there? kenedy is good, but we have better players in those wide positions at the moment. our youth academy isn't producing prospects good enough for first team squad places, and our best youth products are out on loan for another season or two.

Why are we supposed to be rebuilding every season? f**king hate that thing. We have a pretty good squad. It needs tweaking. It needs consistency.

We need some pretty big tweaks if that's what you want to call it. We're 12th in the league with one foot out of the 16 round of the CL and we're in the middle of the best run of form we've had all season. We've had the same squad almost down to a man as we did last season. Is that the consistency we want? It wasn't long ago we had a manager consistently picking the same team as he did last season and consistently using the same tactics game after game. Is our squad pretty good? I can think of at least 5 players who need to go. Replacing them and bringing in additional players just to keep things competitive within the sqaud is a little more than tweaking IMO.

New manager = big changes in the squad. It's normal.

We won't have same squad nex season which in my opinion is a good thing.

I've read some roumor he wants Vidal too but is Bayern even willing to sell him next summer.

We need tweaking.

I agree. We don't need a total turnover of the squad, we've got very good players that haven't performed well this season, but we've got a good scaffold to improve. In my opinion, what we are lacking is a bench with enough quality to rotate the first line up players.

Conte it is - Di Marzio.

BREAKING NEWS: Sky Sources - Chelsea expected to appoint Antonio Conte as manager on three-year deal within next ten days

I've been pretty down on the thought of Conte coming here, mainly because of the boring football he's playing with Italy. But it might be that International football isn't for him, he's somebody who liked to instil a philosophy and a way of playing into a team, very hard to do at an international team. I'm looking forward to having an Italian back at the helm I must say, and his celebrations rival AVB's.

Our success with an Italian in charge has been pretty good. Vialli, Don Carlo, Di Matteo...

And Ranieri laid the foundations for the Mourinho double winning team.

Lampard, Makalele, Terry, Cech, Robben, Joe Cole, Gallas, Bridge, Duff...

Let's hope Conte continues the tradition.

was going to say similar actually. If there's two things we love, it's a brazilian and an italian
