Posted January 6, 20169 yr There's a rumour making rounds about the potential swap of these two. Granted, it's most likely BS, and isn't going to happen, but if it were, would you do it? Â I haven't followed Bale closely since he left Spuds, but whenever I watched him in big games for Real he looked underwhelming. Hazard is younger and imo can still get better. Bale is a more polished player. Eden relies on his top class technique while Bale is a combination of a freak athleticism and underrated technical ability. Plus, Bale knows the league and will count as a homegrown, which is a certain plus for the club in our current condition.Â
January 6, 20169 yr As you say, probably never going to happen (swaps very, very rarely do; Zlatan <-> Eto'o being an exception), just an interesting hypothetical. Would be interesting if there was an additional fee to be paid one way, i.e. who is worth more?Â
January 6, 20169 yr It's a tough one. Up to this season I would say NO, I wouldn't swap Hazard for Bale but now I'm not so sure. Â Not just because he has had a poor start to the season, but I am wondering about Hazard's mental strength and also as to whether Bale would be a better fit going forward? I still think Hazard is the more naturally gifted footballer of the two and he is nearly two years younger (in fact just looked it up and it's his birthday tomorrow so Happy Birthday Eden!) Â If Hazard could get back to the form of last season where he pretty much carried us over the line to lift the PL title then I would still prefer to keep him. But at still only 25, realistically I don't see him remaining at Chelsea for his whole career, so perhaps it would be best to cash-out now and take advantage of picking up a quality player like Bale, who we know should hit thr ground running returning to the PL and stop him from going to Utd. Â So that's a MAYBE.
January 6, 20169 yr As I've said everywhere Hazard is younger and has much more potential, while Bale may have had his best already in spurs and may not reach that level again (anything can happen) Although, we may trade Hazard for an astonishing amount of money (new world record) or, at least, ask James/Bale+Isco instead. Â About our "CL position", we may not be in CL next season, but it gives us more time to win BPL again. Also, I think that players look at everything provided by the club. If only CL mattered there would be much more better players in lower leagues - like Serie A, Ligue 1 or RPL
January 6, 20169 yr Would Bale even come to us without Champions League football? I highly doubt it.With a reputable(respectable) coach and if we can convince him about our project i.e plans to at least get back the paramount of english football and of course monetary rewards, its possible.

So that's a MAYBE.  I like Hazard a lot and normally wouldn't entertain the idea of selling him. However, if the likes of Real come calling, you know it'll be just a question of when and for how much. If the young Belgian asks the club to let him go, I'd try to make the best of the bad situation. Madrid have got an embarrassment of riches when it comes to top talent and I'd expect us to have a good chance of landing some of them if they want Hazard. Bale would be the most logical choice for a number of reasons. It doesn't have to be a straight swap since they rarely happen in football. But under certain circumstances it would make sense for both clubs to sell their stars to each other for similar fees.
January 6, 20169 yr Bale is exactly what Chelsea need, super pacy, more direct, and knows the league. Zidanne+Real=Hazard, so cash in now!!
January 6, 20169 yr On the fence about this although a positive if this were to happen, would be we would be more likely to keep bale for the rest of his career, as he has already had his foreign experience. If we kept hazard this summer, what are the chances of him being here til he is 32? So it could be whether you would prefer hazard for 2 seasons, or bale for the next 6. If I was confident hazard would fulfill his potential here, and be happy to give us his best years, then there would be no discussion, but his form has dropped and being labelled a rat by sections of your own fans, is only going to make him more likely to go to Spain.
January 6, 20169 yr I wouldn't mind having Bale here at all. It would be good to finally have a big physical attacker. Not sure I'd want to give Hazard up for him though. If it was a given that Hazard wants to leave soon and we had the option of getting Bale to replace him, I'd say yes.
January 6, 20169 yr Would depend on who we appoint and the style of football we want to keep playing. If we are sticking with counter attacking football rather than the possession game Roman wants then I would swap Bale for Hazard because he fits that style better.  If Roman still has hopes of playing attractive passing football then Hazard has to be seen as a vital part of that. January 6, 20169 yr no thanks. Â unless they're giving us money too. Â cos hazard is the better footballer with a rarer talent and who gets injured half as often despite twice the kicking.
January 6, 20169 yr Hazard just turned 25. Bale is 26. I would definitely swap hazard for bale, he's more accomplished player, and he has that killer instinct.
January 6, 20169 yr No way. Not as good as Hazard and is older. Doubt so many would even consider this if the club wasn't going through such a bad season.
January 6, 20169 yr Swap deals are so rare, especially at this level so I doubt theres any chance of it.
January 6, 20169 yr I really like hazard, but if he wants madrid we shouldnt block it. Players will only be there best if they are fully committed to the club.
January 6, 20169 yr Younger More Skilful Less Injuries More Talented Much more handsome  In other words no thanks
January 6, 20169 yr If they throw another player in or some cash ( 25M+), I would say yes. True we need a goal scorer, but we will lose a lot in creativity if Hazard goes, let's not judge Hazard based on the past 6 months.
January 6, 20169 yr It's a big yes from me Bob. Bale is stronger physically and I suspect mentally. Quicker, more versatile, a better finisher, and partially due to his experience, a more intelligent football brain. Would like them both in the same team but if its a choice.. Bale all day long.
