Nope. Doubt he'd fit Conte's style anyway

There's an old saying in life  'never go back' and this applies to Juan. Loved him as a player and even more for the gent he always appeared to be outside of the game.

Absolutely love him to bits but if we want to transition away from a half-arsed tikitaka to a more robust unit then he's not the man for the job. Having said that if we did get him back then I would be ecstatic.

Hopefully he's the wrong fit for what we're trying to build. If we do go in for him then that's an admission that this club is happy with top four at best.

Why? Because Jose didn't want him? Because he was somehow the reason we didn't win the league when he was here?

Fantastic little player, would instantly improve our attacking threat especially now a few years on we have strikers in front of him rather than the ghost of Torres he had to deal with before. And would probably give our strikers a lift knowing we have another creative force besides Hazard and Fabregas.

I loved him when he was here and furious when we sold him, but i'm not sure it would be the best move for the club if he came back. He's been playing average for an average side for quite a while now, i'm not sure he would be capable of returning to how good he was the season before he left us.

Cant see him and Fabregas in the same team, especially with him playing in front Fabregas in the no.10 role. Makes us too lightweight in the middle of the park & we'll get bullied and dominated in the midfield.

Would love to have someone physically imposing with some aerial ability to play in that role behind Costa...Cavani even??

Because he's a great player who thrives in a team built around him, but you can't become a top team building around such a player. You sacrifice too much in my opinion.

Was the team we had when he was here built around him though? I don't think it was. If it was then we did a horrible job of it. 

if we get him back , we are just missing iniesta and we gonna have the whole spain midfield

I actually wouldn't mind having him back now that it seems he is pushed out by JM again. LVG didn't know how to use him and still he was only behind Rooney in scored goals during Van Gaals two year stint.

However I have no idea whether Conte rates him.

I've argued in the past that Fabregas and Mata in the midfield would be far too porous, but I suppose theoretically they could work together (and it would be nice to reunite the gorgeous Mata-Hazard partnership behind the striker).

 

We'd need to add a centre back who is far more comfortable at building from the back, Zouma would certainly need to develop his possession game (considerably), and we'd need an outstanding covering midfielder. It would effectively sideline Willian and Pedro, and I'm also not wild at the idea of Azpilicueta playing as a wing-back (although he could possibly play as one of a back three), but it's possible this might work... maybe... I'm not convinced:

I liked him, wouldn't say anymore than that, wouldn't re-sign him.

What a player he was. Big game player too. Didn't have enough fire for Jose though.

I still think he'd add something and agree LvG and Moyes didn't know what to do with him.

Depends on how Conte wants play really. In my mind there is no player better (apart from Cesc) at unlocking deep defences than Mata. I won't hold out hope but if he goes cheap then Itd be nice to have him home.

Loved him as a player and a person, love what he has said recently about Football players being removed from reality and voter protected.  However, I don't think he'll come back.  I was sad to see him leave, but at the time I felt that for the better of the team as a whole, we would have been daft not tot take the money, and use Oscar (who I felt was more of the type of player we needed in the team).

 

I think if Jose does close him out of the Man Utd team, we'll see Juan back in Spain come January.
