Chelsea v West Ham (PL) 19.3.16 KO 15:00 GMT

That was a good game between two finely balanced sides. Fair play to West Ham for coming and having a go. Credit goes to Bilic for the job he has done there, hope our new man can similarly inject a new philosophy into the club. Defensively we just aren't there now, a rebuild of the backline is in order as is the cover afforded them. Going forward in the second half we looked far better when playing with pace and prepared to have a real go at them. I thought Fabregas made a good play today for the captains armband, he showed the passion that we all crave. Good minutes for all the young lads, each did their cause no harm.

Do you guys take stats and stuff like that seriously? I mean, i think sometimes we are also quiet bias to some of the players because according to this site Oscar was not that bad for example. https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/959855/LiveStatistics/England-Premier-League-2015-2016-Chelsea-West-Ham

what do you think?

Stats are for people that don't actually watch the game. Oscar had 4 shot's but they were either blocked or sent well off target. His passing percentage is ok but that was because most of his passes were short and easy.

What you see with your own eyes is the thing that really counts.

Ok good to know. My eyes were right.

+1 Oscar lost the ball for their second goal, and had poor touches throughout. Look, this is not about beating the poor lad, but like I said. He had a poor game ... why not take him off sooner? I don't understand  :317:

not just this site, but CFC fan in general - there are many CFC fans that are upset that CFC got rid of Mata so Oscar could take his role - IMHO Oscar is more like Frank Lampard, but he isn't Supah Frank - still I like Oscar - he setup the first goal w/ his nice run into the box where Reid had to bring him down - Of course we all know what happens next - Cesc performs a magic trick

Not happy today, however if wet sham miss out on champions league football next season by 2 points at least this result will account for something. To all you people who thought Tony Gale was a prick you should have listened to the 2 clowns on BBC radio London. Unbelievable.

This is an enormous misconception. Statistics are a perfectly valid manner of attempting to analyse and interpret the game. To dismiss them entirely is to misunderstand what exactly it is that they represent; to accept them as perfect qualitative fact is to fail to understand the nuance of the game.

That said, if anyone is taking the overall 'ratings' on WhoScored as anything serious then their opinion is probably worth ignoring...

did you get a selfie w/ him?

Nah he was in a glass cubicle thingy behind us but he did wave whe we were singing Diego. I got a photo but it's pretty crap5429a957f6db689e64b681cdc14f311c.jpg

nice - at least you were close enough to see he isn't too bitter ;)

I still can't believe baseball has used this as the sole way of deciding a players worth but I agree with you that stats are a very useful tool but this should only be used as as a tool and nothing more.

Oscar today as with most of the season has been average, but saying that so have most of our players. Oscar is a very good intelligent player on his day and whilst usually inconsistent, I still can't understand why his game has deteriorated so much this season and like Hazard, Matic and Courtois the only explanation I can give is confidence. I still hold hope that these players will turn it around, although I do see Oscar head as probably one of the first on the chopping block and rightly so.

That said Oscar isn't as bad as people have been making out, he is still a good player even on a bad day but it is extremely frustrating when you see your team playing badly and Oscar in one of the prime play making role will always have to take a lot of the flack for this.

And for those saying Oscar's Whoscored representative score is BS and quoting his (pretty average) attacking stats as the reason why this figure has been over inflated are probably missing one of the main parts of Oscars game which will massively effect his who scored rating, as lets face it his defensive work as a CAM is unprecedented at the top level and because of this his rating will never be truly representative of our opinion on his performance.

Well at least we got a point and shut the hammers up...but another draw at home...story of life under Hiddink...been a long time since I've experienced such a flat atmosphere at the Bridge - just get that vibe everyone wants the season to end ASAP...still good to see Kenedy, Ruben and Traore on the pitch

Under Jose this season we would've lost this match.

Watching today the most common problem around the pitch was pace. Transition from back to front is too slow.

Without the ball cesc and Mikel once they've been passed can't get back, then defence come out to block space causing gaps eg X 2 PSG and the second goal today.

Watching Remy, made a couple of runs but in general his movement was poor. Pato can't be rated because he isn't used, on bench today and still not used. We don't look like we work as hard as the opposition in winning the ball back and we were out muscled in midfield a lot today.

Defending for the second goal was atrocious. Good to see the young guys getting a run. I'm in the group that thinks oscars play was average today and Willian is starting to show the impact of a long season and his work rate.

Fab was great. Like most others I'd like to see the young guys given even more of a go. Kennedy and Traore have looked good as did zouma until injured.

Rlc and baba can still make the grade. TiVo is for sure a good keeper maybe he could have done better but those in front of him are far more to blame. How was carol allowed so much space so close to goal.?

Can you imagine what it would have done for RLC's playing time had he scored in the final minutes of the game?!... nothing!!... it would have done nothing =(

Missed the game, assume we were pants as usual?

Just lacking any real ruthlessness.

The midfield looks pretty powder puff, as reliable as Mikel is in possession he just will never offer the defensive protection required in a great team.

Cahill showed his limitations today, I fear for a Chelsea defensive without proper leadership because Cahill and Ivanovic just aren't up to the job.

Attacking midfield was flat, Oscar just dialed it in doing nothing of any real note, Willian has reverted back to running about a lot but not really threatening.

Remy highlighted the gulf in quality between himself and Costa.

So yeah, same sh*t different game sadly.

Sums it up pretty well. Problem with Mikel is he offers nothing going forward which is fine if your playing as a defensive midfielder. But Mikel doesn't even offer protection to the defence, always seems to be behind where the action is chasing the ball around.

RLC offered more than Oscar but we know who will start the next game.

Spot on. If there is a standout thing we've been exposed on time and time again this season it is pace and energy. Terry, Cahill, Ivan, Matic and Fabregas have been consistently too slow and in midfield our movement has been awful. This has been even more noticeable since Ramires left.

In midfield we don't cover well laterally and once passed there is no hope of getting back. We saw that for their second goal. Cesc was caught upfield and had no hope of getting back. Cahill and Terry are so fearful of being hit in behind they drop off way too deep. This leaves 40 yards of space for just Mikel. Once he is bypassed we're exposed.

First order of business is to get a defensively minded player with a motor into the team (a Nainggolan or Krychowiak) but with no Europe that's going to be tough. We could equally do with more pace in the backline.

Overall we did well to fight back twice. Kudos to Fabregas on that.

Weird game, with a first half a bit boring but with two great goals, and a second half that I thought was exciting. Their second should have a never occurred if we had a proper defence and keeper, but we showed great attitude again when we were behind. Overall I think we were better than them and if anyone deserved to win, it was Chelsea.

Oscar and Remy shouldn't have started. I'm not even sure they should be on the bench, but then again we haven't got that many other players to fill it. I am surprised how is Ivanovic back to RB position, Azpilicueta should play there and Baba should start as LB. I liked to see Kenedy, I thought he had a good first half (why was he substituted? Anything to do with his injury during the first half?). And please, while Costa is out Traore should start, not Remy. I am also not a big fan of RLC, but he had a good game today. It wasn't difficult to improve what Oscar had shown, but he did well when he came on and showed willingness to win the game.

A pity we didn't get the three points with that last chance of RLC.
