Chelsea v West Ham (PL) 19.3.16 KO 15:00 GMT

Featured Replies

Oh what a fool I feel. If only I had predicted all score draws in the shed end last 11 competition. I would be top by a margin...

Ah who am I kidding, I would still get the scores wrong!

Was a good game I thought. West ham were very good, us had some decent spells but defence and keeper were poor.

Watching MOTD this morning I don't think we played too bad against a very in form west ham. We conceded a fantastic strike which was impossible to save, and maybe could have done better on the 2nd goal but was a great ball from payet; cahill should have stayed with carroll though. I also dunno how courtois can be at fault for that 2nd goal as it was hit at mid height, with force to the side of him. Maybe his positioning was a little off but those shots are hard to know if the striker will shoot the other side of the keeper or his near post. The stats show we had more attempts than them so not so bad. Obviously we should have done better but west ham are a very good side and our defence and midfield are sub-par at the moment to say the least.

Really? how shabby is that? Cech contributed and helped  winning many things for us in recent history !!!

People care more about ol Bego than they did Cech

. Cahill and Terry are so fearful of being hit in behind they drop off way too deep. This leaves 40 yards of space for just Mikel. Once he is bypassed we're exposed.

I think that's correct, the other piece being the lack of pace between mikes and fab, they work hard but no pace.

The defending for the 2nd goal was embarrassing, how can a slow donkey like Carroll have that much space behind 3 defenders who started near him? Chill switched of completely and that's unforgivable.

Well at least we got a point and shut the hammers up...but another draw at home...story of life under Hiddink...been a long time since I've experienced such a flat atmosphere at the Bridge - just get that vibe everyone wants the season to end ASAP...still good to see Kenedy, Ruben and Traore on the pitch

Yeah loved that. They thought they had a result. Can't wait to see the atmosphere down at the inland revenue stadium next year when they struggle to fill half of it.

Only saw motd highlights but tibo looked awful for 2nd goal and apart from the freekick and pen looked like we created f**k all again

Just a thought, we have 8 draws under Guus. if we won only half of those draws, we would be on 49 points and challenging for the 4th place with a good chance to take this last CL spot given our fixtures until the end of the season.

Look at Man U, they had a bad season as well, but with all the criticism surrounding val Gaal and the team they never gave up and are just a point behind the 4th spot,

But this is what happens when mediocrity sets in, we are not aiming high anymore, we praise failings and present it as  half decent successes. Guus' objective should have never been "avoid relegation"  but rather " get into CL".  I can't stop but thinking that somehow Jose would have achieved 4th place if we would have given him a bit more time... but we will never know

I call BS since Jose's sacking we have 6 wins 8 draws which while not great is still 26 points in 14 games, this over 30 games would have left us on 56 points and sitting in 3rd which is not bad form. Which is a massive turn around from 15 pts in 16 games.

We had about 20 efforts on goal, about twice as many as them. Fabregas nearly scored two more, and on another day JT and RLC would have scored. West Ham also hit the bar and had a header cleared off the line. A draw was a fair result.

MotD's edited version gave a different impression, to back up Jenas's view that they 'completely dominated'. They didn't, but they were very threatening on the break, bypassing our midfield at will.

I was at the match, and Remy was absolutely TERRIBLE........he plays without any intensity, and seems more concerned about keeping his mop of hair in place.

He half heartedly jumps for a header, he doesn't control the ball.....although he have one good shot at goal in the 2nd half just before he was substituted.

I want to see Traore start the next games, he is 100000000000 per cent better than Remy.

For the first time this season I missed a Chelsea league match, just had the feeling it's going to end up in another draw. Watching the highlights, really poor second goal we conceded, how could anyone lost the big slow Andy Carol running on goal? The penalty looked legit, not sure why all the outrage, apart from it's Chelsea getting a penalty at the death. I'm not sure it's Hiddink's lucky charm or players just wanted a bit more , 4-5 months ago we would have lost this easily. Not sure why Remy started, he hasn't earned his spot from his recent poor cameos, maybe it's just rotation.

I find what's happened to Remy quite sad..he looks like he's lost all motivation and hunger...last season he was a useful squad member in our chase for two trophies, but his contribution this term has been a major letdown to say the least...think he knows he's gone at end of the season and is just going through the motions...would rather see Tammy Abraham given a run out ahead of him now

By the way, anyway hear West Ham fans having the temerity to sing the 'you've got no history' chant? It's a crap thing to aim at any club, but even more laughable coming from them

You're forgetting Brit - they won the World Cup back in '66!!

Yeah it's funny (and tedious) how they always go on about that, conveniently forgetting the tiny detail that Hurst, Peters and Moore weren't the only players in the England team.

For f**k's sake... we haven't even been that bad

That's not really the point. I'm talking about the prevailing winds of a community of which I am a member.

As a free forum of opinion I am equally free to express my disapproval about what I perceive to be over-the-top, pre-emptive pessimism.

You're flogging a dead horse there, Plokkers.  I can't even bear to look at the match threads until a couple of days later because I know what it will be like. There are people saying "Nothing to play for" and "I don't care if we win or lose"!  Against the Pikies! FFS, Against the Pikies?  Nothing to play for???? Don't care if we win or lose?  Against the pikies?  Jeezus, they'll be saying it don't matter if we lose to the spuds, next!

I do question some of these people, some of the time, I really do.

I'm in the same boat. Couldn't get to this one but managed to check the team sheet an hour before kick-off, saw the same lack of ambition that we've seen Guus go in for before and thought with our track record it was bound to be a draw.

Not surprised to hear the atmosphere was flat either because the club aren't doing anything to fire the imaginations of the supporters. We're a mid-table team with mid-table aspirations right now, and people want to pretend that because we're Chelsea it's going to turn around overnight. It's not. The league's changed.

Supporters are easy to understand. They want to be inspired. They want something to believe in. The greatest atmospheres I've ever experienced at the club are when we're fighting the odds, be in Liverpool in 1997, Vicenza the year after, Barcelona 2000, Barcelona 2005, Napoli 2012, Barcelona, Bayern that whole run.....the odds are against us now and we're not fighting. We've stopped reaching for that next level so what's there to excite the fans about?

All we've got as fans right now is the future. The present is sh*t and the past is full of recriminations and 'what ifs?', but the future has potential. Give the fans the future, give them a glimpse of what could be rather than trying to restart the stuff that didn't work.

Good to see the Shed End forum's support is as hearty as ever...

Very harsh.

What I see here is a community of supporters who spend the week in between matches obsessing over the club, and dreaming of what could be in the next match. Every week you get people who speak excitedly about the future and at 2pm on a Saturday they get the same old lack of ambition.

Supporting a club isn't a one-way street. You don't nail your colours to the mast of a team and then sing from the same hymn sheet. Clubs are community projects and they're run by humans. Humans are fallible. This club at this point in time aren't firing the imaginations of the supporters, they're not lighting a fire in them and they're not giving them something to dream about.

If people want to moan about that then they're more than entitled to and that doesn't mean their support is lacking heart because lacking heart or emotion for the club would make this easier. If people didn't care then that's when you worry. Frustration, anger, disappointment....they're all things humans feel and will express and what they don't need is denigrating because it's not flag-waving positivity.

problem is some people moan just for the sake of it just because we didn't win.. saying it's worst performance they've ever seen, no drive, no sh*t etc etc..

Which posts are you referring to? Gone back through this thread and what I'm seeing a lot of is people pissed off with the lack of ambition or risk-taking.

We've been told for years that the reason we can't play the youth is because the stakes are too high, and for once when there's no trophies on the line we still don't take those chances. I think it's unfair to criticise supporters when they're having this served up to them.

Agreed ShedEnder, I guess for the benefit of PloKoon and Yorkley, the next time we are losing at home this season and lacking any sort of passion and determination, everyone including me should just roll our sleeves up and have the standard glass half full, positive attitude. I'm tired of reading how people being pessimistic this season are supposedly bad supporters, what is there to be positive about exactly? Watching mercenaries kick a ball around with zero passion, it's because I'm so passionate myself that I'm so angry with these players and find myself lacking motivation to cheer them on.
