Granted Michy is defo not ready to start every weekend but the latter of those two is where I put my stock. Nobody in the league would get in ahead of Costa if they were at Chelsea. Hard to bench a guy who scores almost every match and gives so much to the side

Bit of both really. 

At the start of the season Michy was coming off the bench fairly regularly and getting 10/15 minutes towards the end of games, especially if we were chasing the win. 

Costa has (in my opinion) been our best player this season (possibly in the whole league) so if he's fit and available he plays. 

The most telling game though, was Bournemouth at home. Even with Costa suspended Conte chose not to start Michy. 

If Conte trusted Michy he would have been nailed on to start that game but there's obviously work Conte feels Michy needs to do to improve before he feels he able to call upon him.

But also tactically, Eddie Howe would have been setting up to play against Michy all week, so to come up against three little blokes not holding up the ball would have been a surprise.  So I don't think it is a clear cut as that.

Eddie Howe will have also considered the possibilty of Batshuayi not starting. We, in a forum did, so surely a professional football coach did as well.

I don't think that's true.  Why else would commentators and the like talk about Mourinho's ability to have plan A, B, C sometimes D to such an extent if every other manager does it?  He would have had 1 game plan, like the majority lower team managers, to nullify the attack of the opposition and try to get a point.  3-0 later.

Not sure I agree with that, I don't think that tactically or personnel wise it would make much difference to Bournemouth whether Michy started or how we set up. 

From a Chelsea point of view I think it spoke volumes that Conte chose not to select a traditional forward given that the system we had been playing had bought 11 back to back wins up to that point. 

He preferred to deviate from that rather than pick Michy.

I think the system has been great, but Costa has also been in sublime form.  So it's not as if the system would have automatically allowed Michy to play as well. He deviated and it's a possibility he did it to throw the opposition off.

Conte has also said in pressers that he needs to develop more, so it's no secret.

Tactically it would 100% have a difference though, if you have a traditional centre forward backing into all game, you're going to man him differently to an Eden Hazard.

Agree with what Van Butsen said, Conte didn't play Bats so it'd mess up Howe's tactical plans, and it worked.

Now we're unpredictable whenever Costa is injured, great move by Conte.

The bit before the paywall basically says that PSG are looking for a centre-forward to be backup to Cavani, and Kluivert (who is apparently their Director of Football) is looking at Batshuayi, as their first choice Lucas Alario didn't get on with Emery.

I had/have high hopes for him but the Pedro, Hazard and Willian axis has got us two comfortable wins playing some pretty good footy, so hard to complain right now.

Obviously he is not a Conte signing. And it looks like Conte wants to frustrate him out of the team so Abramovic can give him the financial backing to get his own preferred type of forward.
I pray Mitchy has the sort of patience of Moses so he can just get a temporary loan rather than right off his chances and get a permanent move away.

I feel for Bats as he was pretty excited to join us, but Antonio is just not a fan so there isn't a lot he can do really. A loan move to another Premiership team would do him the world of good, at the moment he's like Remy Part II.

A loan move to another team in january would be terrible. At least here he gets to train with the first team and has the chance to earn some playing time. Getting four months at a new club doesnt give him much time to crack the starting 11, chances are he would sit on the bench and  get 5-10 minute cameos

At another club he will most likely start every game. At Chelsea he is lucky to get a few mins.

Lets say Chelsea was going to loan Batman out it would only be to a club he will get a good amount of minutes otherwise it's pointless. So not really doubtful.

Agree. Its pointless. What club is going to take on one of our players, for four months, and play him over one of their own? Unless its with an option for a second year (which would be even dumber) I cant see it. Anyway, its a moot point. He isnt going out on loan

I feel Conte is spot on not playing Bats. There is no reason to play 3-4-3 if the striker isn't a certain type. Costa is the right type. Bats would probably do well playing 2 up front or putting the ball in the box early.

I feel it might be better if he moved on.
