I've said throughout the season I thought he has performed as the second best left back in the league behind Danny Rose. I'd like to revise that to him being the best and most consistent left back this season. 

Completely exceeded all hopes and expectations and has been a key player and has only strengthened his role as the season progressed. 

What a signing he has been this season!

He was right in saying that the few years he spent in Italy was like a defending masterclass and he has returned to england a superb player. Not to mention the impact having a god like Conte managing him would have done

 

His technique is amazing, he always connects with volleys well, which cant be said for a lot of players, that left foot is lethal, and despite his ' apparent' lack of pace (he's not a slouch) he seems to beat his man more often than not

Yeah I think what threw me early was that he's not a true athlete, so he looks slower and weaker than he needs to be.  However his technique, as someone said earlier in the season he's from a very technically gifted family and school of football, is absolutely incredible.  Full credit to him for getting the performances he has for large parts of this season.

What a signing this guy has been, Many have under rated him, Imo one of our most important players, solid at the back and what he offers going forward is awesome for a player of his position. That left foot is a cracker, volleys, free kicks, crossing, the lot!

I suppose it was understandable that some would be wary of his signing, not exactly a house hold name. But I'm sure even his biggest detractors must have changed their minds by now, can see what he brings to the team and just how important he has been.

I apologize in advance, but has anyone mentioned the free kick that he took yesterday.  It was hit perfectly, and if not for skimming off the top of the head of a Boro defender who (correctly) jumped, it was destined for the top corner of the net (you can see Marco's face when it was partially deflected -- he knew he hit it perfectly).

Yeah I was one who underrated him. He has come on leaps and bounds in recent months and has proved to be crucial. It shows how important he is to us when he missed that utd game. He also has height which not many in his position have. 

on current form, id still like us to buy him some competition but i'm satisfied with him starting for us, i think hes come leaps and bounds and has proven he is good enough for that sport + love the extra height when attacking and defending set pieces....cahill, luiz, alonso, matic, costa and even azpi although hes shorter than the rest...weve been dwarfing over teams

He's been so much better than expected since the day he joined.

For me there's no doubt he's slow and isn't an amazing one on one defender. 

But that's where my reversations end. He's got a great engine, a good left foot and adds a lot when we defend in the air. He's also a total natural at wingback. 

He's been an excellent buy. I do think we could improve on both him and moses in the summer, but it would be far from a disaster if we didn't. 

I'd like to see us look into getting Danilo for RWB from Real Madrid, he's been limited to mostly bench time this year and is a quality right back both attacking and defending

Danilo is a good shout, 11 goals in 4 years at Porto. Can't ask for more from a RWB and would fit in with our need to bring in quality. Aina and Todd Kane I'd like nothing more to make it here, but not at the compromise of improving the relative strength of the squad.

Yeah, and as far as i remember Porto played a back 4 at that time, so his 11 goals seem more impressive considering the reduced attacking freedom a fullback has compared to a wingback

Indeed if the back 3 doesn't work out for whatever reason next season we'd have someone who can comfortably fit in at RB. For me Alonso has proven quality at LWB but I still have doubts about him at LB in a back 4 (same with Moses at RB). With Danilo at RB and Azpi back at LB there'd be no compromise in quality if we need to change tactics next season.

I'll text Emenalo Roman, see if he can pull some strings

Do I get a finder's fee? Say 20% of the transfer fee (same as Mino ravioli) should be fine.

I think United, City, Bayern, and Inter will be in for him too this summer... but if if we sign him it's done.  (you could have had 35% if you'd negotiated but whatev)

Agreed.  Not sure how slow he is really, or if it's just that he appears slower (he's certainly not fast) due to his long legs and stride when running

His one on one defending as improved greatly for me at the start looked like a fish out of water but he handled boro winger perfectly considering is probably one of the quickest in the league

The fact I like about Alonso and Moses is that they are 26 years old. I believe they can become much better footballers in the future after gaining of experiences 

For that, I am extremely looking forward to their maximum potentials

Our total expenditure on Alonso, Kanté and Hazard is around equal to what Manure paid for Pogba.
