Spuds Vs Chelsea (PL) Wed 04/01/ 2017 KO 20:00 GMT

Featured Replies

Back in Dublin after my the Bournemouth and Stoke double at the bridge!  Was a great week and I'm now even more fired up for Spuds!  Let's start with our strongest!  The spuds will sure give it their all!  I'm sure our boys will do the same.  With Diego Hazard Willian Kante and Matic (this time in) we will cancel out the spuds and beat them!  Come on Chelsea.  Let's complete the double on the Spuds

The last time we won at three point lane was in the 2012 with a 2-4 win. We also lost one and drew two in that period, they will probably go for the dirty tactics if things don't go their way just like last season hope the boys ignore it and go for the win.

Wednesday will be The Spuds Cup Final their biggest game of the season, for us it's just another game against a small deluded club with no history Will be tough, It would be great to win at our last game 3 point lane and shut their gobby brain dead rascit fans up.

we all know Spurs win resort to their dirty trick trying to kick the sh*t out of us,its in their history they always do it,we must stay calm I'm going for a 1-2 victory COYB

Can you remember poor little sp*rs being outraged last season cos hazard and Fabregas said in the build-up that they wanted to beat/draw with them to ensure they didn't win the title? For some reason it was seen as a huge insult and we were totally out of order...my how they moaned...funny then how they're doing a similar thing now, e.g. Pochettino saying everyone else in the league wants sp*rs to beat us Wednesday etc...of course I get where he's coming from, but it's amusing that he doesn't realise how hypocritical he's being

Just had a look at our schedule:

4th Jan: Tottenham (A)

14th Jan: Leicester (A)

22nd Jan: Hull (H)

31st Jan: Liverpool (A)

4th Feb: Arsenal (H)

That's exactly one month. Arguably the hardest one for us yet, and one where we can either all but win the league or completely collapse. It's do or die really.

Yeah it's a tough run in for sure, if we manager to somehow get maximum points out of these fixtures (or close to that) I think the title will be ours. However, I'm not sure we will win all those games, my prediction run:

4th Jan: Tottenham (A) 1-1 Draw

14th Jan: Leicester (A) 1-3 Win

22nd Jan: Hull (H) 2-0 Win

31st Jan: Liverpool (A) 2-2 Draw

4th Feb: Arsenal (H) 1-0 Win

Actually I asked friends of mine, who are United and Arsenal fans, about this and all of them want us to win. The reason is simple - they're all competing with Tottenham for a top four stop. Not many people seriously think about winning the league when they can't even guarantee a CL spot. I think Mauricio Pochettino is just trying to wind us up a little bit.

This lot totally hate us with a vengeance, and while they will initially attempt to play us off the park, if that doesn't work then the scummy tactics take over, and we've all seen how good they are at that! I don't have any problems with hard decent tackling, that's as great a part of the game as a decent mazey run! but these buggers take it to another level when it comes to us. Composure, cool heads and pure footballing ability is what we'll need to overcome these nasty little scroats!!

They are so bitter, just have a look at their match thread. They really hate us, saying that everybody wants them to win against us.

The thing that amuses me about their match thread is how many of them are going on about 'if we need to, we can get physical because they don't like it, bunch of lightweights'. This ignores the fact last time they tried that, their title hopes went down in flames. It's also kind of pathetic that most of their match thread is just insults and talking about putting 'Hazard in Row Z' etc.

I hope we don't lose our unbeaten run to this lot. Conte is a fantastic tactician, and I don't think he's the type to be caught out twice, so hopefully he's learnt from our last game against them and how they've been playing recently. We know that, unlike City, we can switch up our tactics and adapt well, so hopefully he can work out a way around their high press. After the Stoke game I'm confident we won't be too complacent going into this, and I'm happy we've shown how much fight we have in us.

Even though we won the last encounter they overran us in midfield for the first 40 mins or so.  We certainly need to improve our intensity and desire in the middle of the park.  I hope that Conte is bold with his team selection and goes at them from the start and doesn't sit off them, if he does that and tries to soak up the pressure I think we will only be inviting trouble and inevitably fall behind and that is the last thing we need to do as it will only provide them with momentum.  Personally I think our weakest players are Alonso and Cahill and if I were Spurs I would keep pounding our left side....

I think we all know that we will only be 3 points ahead come kick off time, I'd love a win but a point will do...anything but a defeat against this lot

Not wanted to win a game so much this season than this game, everyone expecting this to be the game we stumble, would be so good if we routed it,score early and it would be huge

Miss the days of the old 3 point lane, need to teach these boys for trying to act like men. We know their game plan there is only one way they can come at us with the high press and I'm sure conte will counteract this. We need a solution to get up the pitch quick, as long as we go in at halfback time on even terms these lot can't keep it up for the whole game we can, we get stronger, we will find a way we have for 13 games and that's no accident

Results 1971 / 1972 season home 1 - 0, away 3 - 0.

Will take a draw now, not too bothered by getting the record for wins on the trot, one point better than nil, three points better still, 0 - 1 COYB.Scan_20170102.png

Besides winning, getting massive 3 points and whole lot of self-esteem, I want to see a win, just so Spuds won't have a reason to publish another DVD titled: "How we've stopped Europe TOP side on a winning streak."

P.S. Sry for bad english =)

the fact the media are saying with glee that spurs have a great chance to upset us, makes me want to beat them more. the media would rather liverpool or utd, even city (with the pep w**kfest) win the league over us. an "inferior" manager like conte can't come to england and win the league with a previously ill performing side in his first season because it wouldn't fit the media's narrative of premier league being the toughest league in the world.

i really hope we beat them well. 1-3 or 4-2 would be ideal, maybe even put 5 past them like they did vs us last season.

As much as Im enjoying our run of form and I'm feeling quite confident most games, I think this will be the end of the winning streak. We have a pretty poor record at White Hart Lane in recent years and they are playing some good football at the moment. I expect we'll sit back and counter attack, but I think they might break through our defence and cause us quite a few problems. I'd take a draw.

This will be tense, but the players will be up for this. They know what this rivalry means to the supporters and that Spurs players will rile them up wherever possible.

WE HEAR YOUR FEAR, SPUDS! GET READY FOR PAIN!

Ivanovic for Moses.

No!

I appreciate what he's done in the past, but I fear he'd get ripped to shreds if he started against Spurs.

scousers drop points f**k yeah... The media must be really sad... All their hope now lies with spurs...  Little do they know CONTE always has a plan. In conte i trust. i am nervous for the game but a positive nervousness if that makes sense. A win and we are 8 points clear of liverpool. seems too good to be true.

i would love to know why the spuds always seem allowed to kick the fcuk out of chelsea and get away with it

Brick Top's explanation should shed some light about why spuds do what they do
