I am expecting a 2015/16 season repeat again

Featured Replies

Well we just had a very even encounter with a team that should be challenging for the title.

And whilst not being overly creative we didn't look anywhere near as open as we did in 2015-16.

This overreaction is startling me. I will not deny we need players and the board have f**ked is but there is an entire month left, don't forget we didn't sign Luiz or Alonso until the very end last year, there is still time so have faith.

on the plus side we stood toe to toe with them and improved greatly in the second half despite them having played a few more friendlies. The defence was excellent and we literally only conceded that goal due to a trademark Fabregas brain fart. Mortal did more in 20 mins than Michy in the previous 70 and I'm confident in him despite the penalty, I think he will fit in well with us.

To be fair i have that feeling too.

I don't think it will be quite as bad, but i do think similar mistakes are being made. Short pre season, transfer window not going to plan, players don't look ready for the new season, squad look's thin, manager appears to be disgruntled. It's frustrating seeing so many similar problems only two years later, you would think we would learn and never put ourselves in a position where things can potentially go so wrong again.

enigma, PedroMendez, you have to be paid by the board, otherwise i don`t see how you can be so optimistic and to said we are okay, when we clearly are not.

When 1 of the best manager in the world said we need a lot of new players, both qualities and depth, how can someone take your opinion seriously?

Conte himself said many, many times, that the squad is small, and now it`s even smaller.

I am  actually worried we will have a slow start which could make it hard to catch up if a team comes flying out of the block's. But i have to say, anyone who think's we will have a repeat of 15/16 are being stupid.

We would most likely have gone on to win the game if it wasn't for the sending off.. Would this have been the reaction had we seen the win out? We do clearly need signings but I think it's too early to say how badly we will do.

Agreed spot on, everytime we win the league this seems to happen. It kind of went downhill for me when we sold Ake and then missed out on Lukaku its just felt depressing since. Going into a new season especially as champions i should feel excited and confident but i don't. Selling one of our players to a rival club aswell (again) just irks me too.

Well I am certainly worried about having to play Spurs, Man Utd and Man City so soon at the beginning, when we are clearly not firing yet. If we get turned over by those 3, we could be in big trouble.

This is what i find funny about football, no matter how much you win, even if your champions. People will completely forget after a few bad games, I'll include myself in that sometimes, it really is an instant gratification sport that as soon as one season is over it's straight onto the next. If you spend too much time thinking about it you'll realise it's kind of crazy to base too much of your happiness on it because nothing lasts forever.

Just ask Liverpool fans  :laugh2:

We still have Hazard and Bakayoko to come back don't forget, couple those with a few more signings and it'll all be fine,, I hope...

The problem is; let's say both makes us incredibly good again and we beat everyone... Both get injured and then what?

Pre season is all about fitness, with 6 days to go to the new season we don't look anywhere near fit. Conte was very flat in his post match interview, this can very quickly transfer to the players. Add to that our most decisive player is unlikely to see any proper action till October, with us being short on quality numbers there are undoubtedly concerns. A big week ahead for the club.

Well then we deal with that situation, we still have very competent attacking players ATM as well as some that we'll hopefully sign. If we don't sign anymore then it will be a concern, but I believe we will

The signs are showing now and thus far the board is not dealing with it. What makes you think they will when we are in mid season? What are preseason games for? The upgrades needed are clear, yet the board is doing nothing, that we know, about it. Do i Believe the board will do something, sure. But having observed what happened to the 2015/2016 season plus new stadium makes me worry. Hope I'm wrong...

I'm a little on the pessimistic side too....

I would be very surprised if we don't make at least two more signings ahead of the close of transfer window and this should help...

But....when I look at our squad in comparison to our major rivals, there's a gap there. We overcame this last season through heroics, masterful coaching and a relatively lucky run with injuries.

Can we outperform again? With Conte as manager, I think so. But it's going to be harder than last year and at this stage (imo) our squad isn't any better than what we finished with last season.

i swear people take the negative out of everything. what a mindset to have. lol

Only we can win the league, break our transfer record and have fans acting like we are in Yeovil Town esque peril.
