August 2, 20196 yr Patience! I hear he will sign within the next 48 days. Edited August 2, 20196 yr by Dixons
August 2, 20196 yr Yes unbelievable the club have got this done so quickly. Believed to be within the next 48 hours.
August 2, 20196 yr 55 minutes ago, Andy North said: This has turned into fiasco. There comes a time when a player has to commit to a team. Not just a club, but a group of players who as a team are looking to work together to achieve great things. At the moment Callum isn't doing this and he's risking his position within the group. I know he is injured but the rest of the squad could be watching and thinking "what's going on with Callum?". They may well question his commitment to something they have all bought into. Callum has left it so late now I think there will always be questions about his commitment to club and the team. How the club react to this is a problem. It depends on how they value his services over his financial value. It becomes more of a problem when you consider the injury. How bad is that injury? Will it re-occur? Is he another Sturridge? The article below suggests Chelsea have to sell before the window shuts. I have said this before and other posters have highlighted that a fee would still be due and he wouldn't go on a free at the end of his contract because a fee would be due as valued by either the FA or UEFA. ( Or an independent arbitrator, I don't know which). Whatever the value it will be substantially below market value and Chelsea will miss out financially. Right now it looks like Callum doesn't care about this either. https://theprideoflondon.com/2019/08/01/callum-hudson-odoi-will-not-sign-chelsea-must-sell-window/ What does Callum care about? Apparently it's really important that he gets game time and wears the number 10 shirt. Does he want it written into his contract that he must play if fit? No club on the planet will do this. Frank has spoken in very favourable terms about this and he shouldn't have problem. The shirt number isn't worth falling out over so it has to be money. The fact that Chelsea have allowed this to carry on for so long leads me to believe they are prepared to lose out financially were he to leave at a substantially lower figure next summer. At least they get something and by then they would have much better idea of how injury prone he may or may not be. If he comes really good in the second half of the season I think they can still negotiate new contract with him next summer. If he looks like a crock or just plan poor they will get a much reduced fee from elsewhere. Cullum's management at some point must realise they are playing a game of risk they could lose. What if he has another injury and/or Bayern and others lose interest. (Bayern already seem to be tracking Sane). His management team alone are starting to look like serious baggage. Callum comes with issues and he's only young. Why they haven't accepted the reputed £120k a week is bewildering? I don't know how much he is on now but I suspect it's at least £100k a week south of what is on offer. The delay has probably already cost him a £1million. Maybe it's Chelsea who are driving the costs down. Maybe they are viewing this in different way now the injury has come into play. Certainly most clubs do not want to buy a seriously injured player. I know Lazio bought a crocked Gascoigne but we are talking about bigger sums of money on an unproven player. Chelsea may take the view that the price goes down because of the increased risk and if he wants to leave next year on a reduced fee let him. They could probably save over £5m on wages this year anyway. Whatever happens I think some collateral damage to Callums character has already occurred. I have been very sceptical about whether he would sign a new contract, however things seem to have progressed according to Lampard, so im now optimistic a deal is close. If CHO does the buisness this season after commiting to a long term contract, im sure fans wont care about the protracted contract renewal. On the injury side, i suspect he will back in training in the next 2 weeks, and from all accounts, his injury wasnt as bad as it couldve been, and he's ahead of schedule to return.

There's a couple of "ifs" in there but I agree to an extent. When he was on the pitch last season there was a feeling he could round his marker and create something. He did show promise without setting the place on fire. I liked what I saw and definitely felt he had a big future at Chelsea. Since then however it been nothing but bad news. First the injury and then the protracted negotiations. I still can't help feel that there's a lack of good will somewhere and if that rubs off in the dressing room it could be problem down the line. I may be looking for negatives but something is going on behind the scenes that has a strange smell. Hopefully he signs and has a great season but I'm not holding my breath.
August 2, 20196 yr Funny how we all assume its CHO delaying and not Marina trying to haggle over a few thousand pounds or perhaps wanting to wait to see how he recovers from his injury first. I mean, its not like Chelsea Football Club to take a long time to get a deal over the line...

Also, CHO is much neaer to returning to training, so i can't see injury being a factor.

August 2, 20196 yr I am as big a CHO pessimist as they come. I am not convinced he's the next big thing or that he will cement the Chelsea first team. I think he is a bit too big for his boots and needs to prove himself. When he played for us last year, he looked to my eyes, ordinary - or at least, no better than Willian. He is a poor finisher of the ball (I think a lack of composure) and I worry about his fitness for 90 minutes. All of that might be improved or changed, but I am more convinced by Pulisic's performances in pre season than his in any game I've seen him play. Despite all of that, I have no idea why the contract hasn't been signed yet - there are loads of potential reasons, some of them not on him. So I am not going to bash him for it.

Ruben's had multiple years of top level football and come back from multiple injuries too. We know what we're getting with Ruben. With CHO he could come back a different player or maybe just not be all that good anyway.

You do realise he's only 18 right and last season was his first in the first team? Pulisic has been playing now for about 3/4 years so it's a bit of a harsh comparison. His first touch, drive with the ball, crossing ability as well as being extremely good in 1v1 dribbling is fantastic for an 18 year old. He was also played at RW when he's far better at LW. He will be a brilliant player. Edited August 2, 20196 yr by JMaher94

He did ok in the cup games against lower level oppoition, but like you, from what i saw in his league appearences he looked rather ordinary and did nothing to justify the huge hype. I think much of the hype is down to us waiting so long for one of "our boys" to be given a proper chance to make it at Chelsea. I just hope he takes his chance and goes on to prove he is as good as some think he is. But if he doesn't, we'll have several others of our young ones knocking on the first team door during the course of this season, so i wouldn't be that bothered if he doesn't sign. August 2, 20196 yr I am on the fence re cho. He has a lot to prove and RLC was far more important last season. You can also see a lot of talent. That said spurs had a flash 17 year old striker in preseason who won’t be on cho money. You have to be something special these days to get into the 1st team without having had a season at championship level or in Europe. Is cho that good? I hope so.
August 2, 20196 yr Most Bayern fans I spoke to don't want CHO. Their argument is that his performances last season were bang average and that he suffered a serious injury, so it's far too great of a risk. I doubt any club will offer him more than CFC does.

He only started 3 games before picking up an injury in the 4th. That is no time at all to judge an 18 year old. What did you expect him to do, come in and score and assist a load of goals? Also, he had a good game against Brighton and good first half vs West Ham. He struggled against Liverpool and then picked up his injury against Burnley. So it wasn't like he was awful.

Problem is when you are handing in transfer requests, using interest from one of the biggest clubs in the world to play your cards and making demands of a first team player you are going to be judged as one regardless of how old you are. Yes he won't be expected to turn into Messi, Hazard or even peak Joe Cole immediately, but 18 or not he's backed himself into a corner now and he has to start somewhat delivering to an acceptable level.

It was different when they believed they were getting him. They were getting well excited. Most likely, egg on their face now. Highly doubt majority of them actually watched him play.

I'd like to say I agree because it feels like he has messed the club around but he can hold out if he wants. He may not sign now and negotiate a new deal next year when he will become a free agent. Chelsea will get a reduced fee if they sell, but if he recovers well he could attract big money offers next year. I still feel Chelsea could sign a deal with him next year but the value of the deal will depend on how he recovers this season. If he has a sh*t season his value will go down. If he recovers well and lights the place up he will demand bigger money. Maybe Barcelona/Real Madrid money. Its a risk for him. He can take the deal on the table now. £120k a week is not to be sniffed at. Especially if you have an injury. Its all got a bit messy and he needs to make his mind up.

He gets a nice yard to get in a cross, but I still haven't seen the power on his shot to see a real gain by him cutting it back on his right foot coming from the left.

Like I said though, I didn't think he was that bad. He wasn't putting in stunning performances, but he was good against Brighton and West Ham, it was only really the Liverpool game where he struggled. 3 hours ago, Wearyourblue said: I'm not sure about this ... I think he has good qualities on both sides. On the right, it's like you say, he tends to get a yard and deliver an excellent ball on the right. On the left though, I think he is better at taking players on and getting into the box.

Kinda putting me off the young man, obviously has immense potential but I'm getting pogba vibes here, in that hes a solid 7/10 with the occasional 9 or 10 but thinks and is marketed like hes a living legend, CHO needs to get his head down and work his arse off before acting like hes this world class talent, basically teasing the fans with the contract situation.
