Callum Hudson-Odoi

I'm really not sure where the risk would be in giving him a run of starts ... none of the wingers we have are undroppable, and most have output that is decidedly average, if not below average. We are crying out for pace and flair to hurt teams with, and this kid seems to have both.

Sub him after 60 minutes if necessary, but why not give him a go ?

This boat has quite possibly sailed now. Not sure why he couldn't have played in the Europa League team and given a slot on the bench after his impressive pre season. This is a problem we are going to face more and more as young players are prepared to back themselves and have faith in their ability.

The ball is still in our court, but the higher the bids the more we have to weigh up our options.

If CHO has his heart set on leaving to play regularly, then we have to make sure we get the best deal for ourselves, and a buy back fee is imperative, so that will probably rule bayern out of the equation.

I'm hoping we resist, and in the next 12 months, we give him enough of a platform to shine, and he also has to do the business when he gets an opportunity.

If we are rejecting £30m bids, then he needs to be treated as a £30m player at the end of the day.

I don't blame him if he wants to leave. He has seen numerous examples to know that he may never get a fair crack at a starting spot. We are clueless at integrating youth and end up spending huge sums of money on dross to fill the squad.  If it's really true Bayern are trying to buy him, we have to ask ourselves why Bayern think he is good enough for them but not for us, and yet here we are buying Pulisic who doesn't seem to be good enough to start for Dortmund.

I haven't been impressed with him though do recall in one match he did score in the Europa.

At 18 he is young to be pushing for a move, yet if that is want he wants let him go and get the best deal you can.

In this way by not standing in the way of ambitious young players I think more talent will be inclined to start with us.

Still trying to work out why people moan and get upset by pure speculation. CHO ain't going nowhere!

Perhaps along with Chelsea Match Chat and General Chelsea we should also have a Chelsea Moan area where people can barf off to their heart's content?

Why do you seem so certain? I think he is off. I hope you are right but this is more than just speculation. Think you are going to be proved wrong.

I highly doubt that CHO has handed in a transfer request. He’s a Chelsea fan and has been with us for years – there must be some loyalty there. I can only guess but I imagine that in an ideal world for CHO he’ll be playing regularly for Chelsea, winning trophies, and improving to be one of the best players in Europe.  It’s all about game-time. If he starts getting minutes for us there is no way he’ll want to leave. The only other slight worry I have is an agent putting pressure on him to leave so they can earn a fat wedge in commission.

It will be difficult for him to leave for the aforementioned reasons however with you mentioning loyalty, what loyalty have we shown him. We have barely played him. We have only started him in 2 meaningless games when the group was already decided. We did not even start him in the cup games. We had chances to play him and we did not. For the sake of his career, he should leave.

I'm trying to convince myself  thinking he may be using Bayern's interest as a power tool against the board.

If we fight so hard to keep him rejecting multiple mega bids in the process there will be some internal pressure to play him which i imagine he is aware off, he will in many ways be a £30m player if he stays now.

We are in a dogfight for 4th, is he better than Willian or Hazard?

If he is, surely Sarri would see that in training and be looking to play him rather than just his 3 appearances this season.

I would like to think that would be the case, but at the same time, he may think him signing a new contract will lead to him being tied down and once again restricted and then it will be a lot more difficult for him to leave. Good thing is he has posted on his insta and twitter him in training and looks happy so hopefully he starts Saturday. It doesn't actually mean he will stay but offers some hope.

Idk, if he signs now it will be on first team wages with likely a ridiculous number of clauses to protect him against that very thing which if nothing else the financial/political aspect would shoot him higher-up the pecking order.

Either way if his intention is actually to stay he's playing a blinder.

I really hope he stays and starts seeing more time. I'm sure it is hard on Sarri trying to get him time. He's new and wants to win as do we but as fans, we always want to see our academy players get more playing time. I hope he starts this weekend.

I felt the same way about Chalobah as CHO. I thought he was a great player and would make it here but then we unloaded him for what about $15-20mil and we haven't seen anything from him since he moved.

The issue I have with this is 18 years old or not, he doesn't have a divine right to be playing regularly. Sarri has pointed out areas of his game which need improving, which I don't think is unfair at all.

He is 18 after all. For me, Ampadu is the obviously more talented at the moment but he also isn't pushing for a move like H-Odoi.

The only thing I say in regards to that is look how many young players we have given £30k p/w contracts before and you rarely ever see them in the first team. Izzy Brown (who I never really rated), Chalobah, McEeachran, Abraham apparently signed £50k p/w contract before we loaned him to Swansea. He still may play here but the plan was for him to go Swansea and come back here but that did not materialize. Then there are rumours of us shipping him on. However saying that, we have given him a huge contract, but basically to be away from the first team for over 2 years. I can guarantee you we probably gave Feruz around £20k a week or so too which is why we can't ship him off. My point being that us offering huge money to youngsters in past has not exactly helped them getting first team football.

You would like to think with Hudson-Odoi it is different, but I think he is level headed and does not want to fall into that trap.

None of those players had Bayern Munich offering big buck transfers.

Bedding down a first team spot for Callum is looking ten times easier at Chelsea than it would at Bayern. His favoured left wing spot may become vacant in a few months time, something the club will be hopefully reassuring him of.

We will always sign players, regardless. If Hazard leaves we will sign another winger. Latest reports states we are in for Lozano. I hope you are right but I just fear it may be too late to convince him to stay. Good thing is he looks like he is fit and should start Saturday and possibly against Spurs too, assuming no transfer progression is made.

Seems strange to post that on twatter if he's off. I just don't know anymore, I hope he stays. I'd like to think we'll only need Lozano to replace Hazard.

Hopefully that means he is in contention for a spot against Forest. If he is back to full fitness I would give him a runout against Spurs in the League Cup too. He could prove to be the surprise package we need in that semi-final.

If he is prepared to sign a new contract then keep him. If he has made his mind up on leaving it makes sense to sell him to get decent money.

I agree these first pro contracts cloud these young men’s judgments. Cars clothes watches don’t show you’ve made it. Appearances goals and medals show your career.

I’m only going to give one example, solanki wanted 50,000 instead of Chelsea’s 35,000 no better chance at dippers than here. This season Carabao Cup against us not even on the bench. We have more players from our glut of F A youth cup/ league winners that have not been good enough for premiership football let alone Chelsea.

We cant get blinkered because they come through our system, if they aren’t good enough then sell them. I’m NOT saying this is the case with CHO.

Yeah then we can go out and spend the money on proven players like Drinkwater, Morata, Bakayoko, Emerson, Zappacosta, Giroud, Barkley, ..............

That’s down to people above. That doesn’t change whether a player coming through is good enough or not.

If Bayern are in for him he's no donkey.

He should be groomed for a starting spot in August... As well I could see Pulisic playing some LCM if Kovacic isn't retained, and Hazard could play F9 or LW.  There's too much uncertainty to lose him.
