If we're just going to try to sign Liverpool's past failures we should get Crouch, Benteke and Balotelli.

This does feel like a sign of worse things to come. Carroll being pony/finishing 5th/Conte getting sacked for moaning about the transfer policy and then Hazard following him out the door, which is all unacceptable considering we are the current champions.

A starting 11 with Michy and Andy Carroll leading the line is too much for me to take in at this time of night 

Only Chelsea could win the league 1 year and be reduced to this the next.

call me crazy but i'm starting to come around the this idea. if the fee is reasonable, say £15-20m and IF we can keep him fit, then it could work out well for us as a plan b on the bench. he isn't a bad striker, but obviously his injury record is concerning. it seems that the loan option isn't on the table, so we don't have much choice but to go the permanent route. i think benteke would cost at least £40m, so not ideal and at least carroll is english. it's still not an impressive signing, but one that could work out well if the fee and injury issues are resolved. 

we still need to focus on bringing in a back up lwb though. we only have kenedy for that position and he's not good enough.

There's probably a name for this kind of psychological condition. I'm sure Arsenal fans have it. Where you are presented with a bad situation and eventually grow to actually think its good and acceptable.

Yeah it's becoming a reality now so folk will try to pretend it's an ok deal to save the red neck. 

Get real it's a 30 year old flop who's hamstrings are like cheesestrings, he's literally never gone a season without injury in 5 years.

Andy Carroll, let that sink in. If it were Arsenal although even they wouldn't sink that low we would be laughing our arses off.

The guy is a walking treatment table, makes Danny Sturridge look a huge signing.

You sir, are crazy. His injury record is more than concerning and to say we don't have much choice other than going the permanent route  is quite frankly bonkers.

Have we really reached the point where we are now being held to ransom by a mid table team run by porn merchants who have all but stolen the Olympic stadium from the taxpayers who paid for it to be built in the first place ?

Never mind the fact he shouldn't even be on our radar, it's all the other sh*t that has me seething.

I can't recall a signing met with such hostility and confusion. It's not like it's even the right type of player whose being bought in to strengthen depth but isn't good enough to lead line (demba ba) 

It's the wrong profile of player who is not very good at a bad price and is always injured.

I don't see anything in the way we play the game that would suggest that adding Andy Carroll is a good idea, apart possibly for his aerial contribution when defending corners.

On the other hand if he scores a mad hat-trick of headers against Barcelona it'll prove someone in the background of the club is a genius.  

 

Still think we have to wait and see what actually develops before getting too carried away/concerned with these stories.

Llorente was set to sign all summer according to various journalists but never happened.

we don't necessarily know why he got injured, could be training regime too intense for e.g. if he comes, i am sure our medical team will work with him thoroughly to aim to prevent the injuries. costa came here getting hammy issues with atletico and early into his career here, but he soon got over them and was hammy injury free most of his career at chelsea. we have a brilliant medical team.

As do the other top clubs. I doubt West ham and Liverpool have shoddy ones.

You can't seriously be telling yourself that we are going to be able to magically fix a guy who's been regularly out for the past 5 seasons just because of our medical team...thats a bit delusional imo. You get injury prone players, look at Bale...are Madrids facilities poor? Would our medical team fix him? Of course not so let's not pretend that's going to happen. Its the ultimate clutching at straws i have seen 

He's injury prone and 30 years old, his best years or what should have been his best years have been eaten away by constant injuries meaning he's never had any decent run to justify coming to a club like ours, 

I'm stunned people are trying to make this sound like a good move, basically saying if he stays fit and injuy free....which he can't it' been proven year after year after year.

His salary is reportedly 90K per week so we should factor that in. Its not just the transfer fee to consider.

True, but he doesn't strike me as a player who throughout his career so far has put all his effort into dealing with the injury issues. He seems quite content to sit it out and pick up his wages at all his previous and current clubs

 

Whose his agent? Could be a 'if you take x now I'll make sure you get y in the summer' 

Maybe this was a condition put by the mayor of London to sign all English players for the new stadium. Throwing out wild theories because it just doesn't make sense.

A question that is nagging away at me right now.

Why are we apparently now content to buy players who either have a history of injuries, or have current injuries when we buy them ?
