Next Chelsea Manager

Who would be your choice as Chelsea manager going into next season? 213 members have voted

  1. 1. Here are the current favorites with Conte included. Jody Morris is in there as he is the current youth team manager, and promoting from within seems to have worked for Barca, so why not us?!

On what’s causing the delay.

It is just boring bureaucracy, confidentiallity clauses etc. The first team squad still don't know who the new boss will be.”

Lol, this is one of those wink wink situations

If there is so much uncertainty around players wanting to come to our club/sign new contracts because they don't know who the manager will be, but Sarri is a done deal why not just tell them? Get them to sign a confidentiality agreement so it doesn't leak and say 'yeah Sarri is managing next season, pls sign a new deal now'.

Giovanni Martusciello, the technical collaborator at Inter Milan, is set to join alongside Maurizio Sarri and Gianfranco Zola at Chelsea (Sport Italia)

New DoF?

Chelsea have reportedly reached an agreement with Rugani on a salary of €3.5m/yr. Chelsea offer said to be close to €35m. (Sportitalia) #CFC

Why are there so many people, especially  in this site, underestimating one of our greatest legends? FFS, he wasn't even given a chance to prove himself a good coach - he saved West Ham at time that was very difficult to accomplish, they played extraordinary football btw, set the foundations in Watford and... that's it. It's such a pleasure that Chelsea is giving him a chance to "redeem" himself in the eyes of the media and the delusional fans. Finally a good move from the board.

Not a fan of these Rugani links as i don't think we really need to strengthen at CB. Having said that, if it is who the manager wants then we should help him as much as possible.

So what does this mean for Christensen and Rudiger? I thought they were going to be our main CB pairing for years to come. Both good on the ball and have pace to play a high line. Dont know why we need Rugani.

Allegedly Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly was quoted as saying:

“Chelsea fans can expect nice football because he is a very good coach. I’m disappointed that he leaves like this.

“I hope he will win something with Chelsea. They have to give him time because he will change the football of Chelsea”.

Rumours about Zola being appointed as part of the coaching staff and possibly Inter Milan's Giovanni Martusciello in maybe a technical director role. Looks like Chelsea might be sorting out all aspects of the backroom staff and will announce all of them in one go as part of a big overhaul?

Would certainly be nice, after the mess of last season and the uncertainty so far in this window.

Statistically they were both worse than Rugani last season (Rudiger was actually marginally worse than Cahill). Maybe everything we think we know is wrong.

I won’t get my hopes up about having struck a deal with Napoli over Sarri before it’s confirmed Conte is sacked.
Surely, we would have gotten official confirmation of that by now if Sarri was right around the corner.
It was supposed to be done in 48 hours weeks ago so it’s hard to predict where things stand now for me.

I know footballers have a reputation for being dim but surely they can see the same news stories we can. The writing is on the wall. Maybe it's the WC they want to focus on

Surely this is to replace Cahill. We will need more than two CB's and no way will Cahill fit the mould of Sarri's ball playing defenders, ball dropping maybe but not ball playing.

I find that surprising but it may well be.  Regardless, I don’t think any fans or anyone at Chelsea care, as anyone with half a brain can see that Rüdiger is the superior player.

Rugani is a solid young defender and adding him to the team excites me more than, say, Zouma coming back in.

Absolutely, by no means was I suggesting Rudiger isn't good enough - it's just to me the stats suggested we could improve our overall depth/quality at CB. If anything Rudiger is Cahill's replacement and we still haven't replaced JT.

His distribution (ball playing ability) isn't perhaps as good as it seems.

Proof that stats are largely sh*t and people can stop using those ridiculous hexagons on the forum now.

Liverpool's recent transfer strategy was based largely on stats and ridiculous hexagons.
