So City play another PL club in the League Cup and are able to field two youngsters in the starting line up, one of whom scores both goals in a comfortable win.

Come on Chelsea we CAN do it.

have you seen the football leaks?

Was just reading about that super League, what an absolute massive load of sh*t that will be.

This has been the dream going back to the 70s. Originally it was Utd, Liverpool,Arsenal, Spurs and Everton along with the other European giants. How times change, Spurs and Everton not now considered to be big enough. The various leagues will now be shi tting themselves and offer greater money to preserve the status quo. It will happen eventually, hopefully not in my lifetime. The power brokers fail to comprehend that as much a match against Barcelona may be box office, football is made up of rivalries that have been built up over 100yrs.

I can't see a super league lasting long. All these clubs who are used to winning things every year, will suddenly find themselves struggling to win anything, because they are competing against the best. Supporters can't afford to travel half way across Europe every other weekend, and if their team is suddenyl finishing 8th in a super league, winning nothing, they certainly won't bother. It'll end up with half-empty stadiums, full of only the die-hard and the wealthy.

stadiums will become like the NBA/MLB arenas : no away supporters.

I call it the NBA/NFL/American sports effect : football will transition from clubs to franchises.

At least there in the NBA and other sports, the clubs agreed on salary budgets and trading players rules so that it looks like every team has a fair amount of chances to win.

Football in Europe has been about who's got the money to buy silverware in the last 25 years at least, it's very unbalanced.

I still don't understand why would a big team want to leave its own domestic league though...makes no sense, every one of those clubs would lose fans including Chelsea.

Money has been driving/ruining the game for the past 30 yrs. Only difference now from previous attempts is that we are part of it. Sooner or later though it will click that without the passionate fans who generate the atmosphere the game is sterile and loses its appeal to tv viewers too.

I honestly don't know what to think of this Super League idea. If it's solely to replace the Champions League then I'd be all for it. I really have come to notice just how much complete dross make it into a competition that is supposed to be the pinnacle of club football, and I know the Europa League is far lesser quality anyway but f**k me the team we played last Thursday were borderline semi-pro standard. The champions league is declining in interest amongst the common football fan imo; I think this shows in the fact Sky were fine to lose their converge of it and quite often teams rest players in favour of keeping players fresh for the upcoming league game. Having a smaller group of the best of the best in one competition would give English teams more incentive to try and progress imo and would for me lead to more potential success than any of our current English teams currently provide.

However, if it's to replace our domestic league then f**k that. I'm not honestly sure how it's going to work but the absence of the standard league we all know and love would lead to my full-time interest declining substantially.

They won't care about supporters not going, the money made on general tickets will be tiny compared to the millions in TV rights, sponsorship etc. The actual match going fans will be way down on the list of concerns.

A Super League is something I am fully against. If it was to happen, I don't think I would follow Chelsea or football at all anymore, that is how much I am against it. If the top European teams break away from their national league's, then it will kill football.

It's not though, if this is true, then the top clubs are looking to break away from their own league. I also personally still love the Champions League, the knock out rounds in the last few years have been excellent.

I hope this is all bullsh*t to be honest, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's true. The stuff involving City, if true, is quite serious and there should be serious repercussions for them and PSG.

The idea behind it is probably to form a super league with games played across the world, including the USA. La Liga already planned to play a league game away in the US, so this is probably what UEFA are hoping for.

Yeah that's me done with football at the top level if this happens, I'll stick to non league and Rugby league.

Negatives: Gradually moving closer and closer towards the death of football.

Positives: I appreciate their good taste in not including Tottenham. (I suppose a stadium was probably on the requirements list).

National League comes first and foremost. If Chelsea moves away from the PL then I'm done. If however, it's a replacement for the Champions League, I would want to see what format it took first before I made my mind up on it. I wouldn't want to be involved in a League where there is no chance of relegation, or a Cup that you're guaranteed participation every year, regardless of where you finish in the League.
