I agree with this. There will be great up and coming keepers out there. It's our job to find one who can really hit the heights. Trouble is, if Courtois leaves, we'll be downgrading in this position next season, whatever happens. If it's a young keeper we put our faith in, we'll need to be patient, as Utd were with De Gea.

Chelsea still in the hunt for Alisson, won’t finalise Courtois deal until replacement sourced. Courtois is apparently already in Madrid ready to finalise it. Simon Phillips.

The big problem is that Alisson is widely said to prefer Liverpool to ourselves:

I'd probably rather spend a season trying to get Courtois to sign a new contract and take the €35m hit if we lose him for free - massive pay rise and a reasonable release clause should be too good to refuse though - then see how Pickford is developing next summer.

IMO I would get rid of the moaners and the bad seeds asap new start new manager and hopefully some good new signings. If he doesn’t want to be part of that then so be it on to the next one 

There aren't that many good available. I rather buy a good keeper that says sh*t things about our club than an average one.

Losing Alisson would create a big problem. The club would have to seriously consider not selling Tibo. I can’t really think of a replacement that would be of equal quality or value. 

Oblak ? Doesn't he have a release clause close to Alisson's price tag?

He signed for PSG last week.

As Bordeaux implied if we're willing to spend £60m+ for Alisson hopefully we're in for Oblak.

Why would he leave Atletico for Chelsea? They are in a better place than we are, and he'll have Costa and Luis in his ear telling him not to come.

Would rather keep Courtois for 12 months and lose him on a free than having vech or Schmeichel. 

At least we have 12 months to identify and get a replacemnt in place.

He turned down Real Madrid in January and signed a new contract, not sure he would be interested in coming here 6 months later.
