I didn't realize Jose made this statement - also remember Pep wanted Jorginho as well

High praise indeed. Would be interesting hearing Jose and Just debate this topic.

I actually think it's a made up quote.

Do a little research and see where this supposed quote originated from!

I watched an interview with RLC & he feels that the fans have it wrong about Jorginho

Oh Ruben being a leader again.

For most of this season he's been second only to Kovacic on my get rid of list. However, i'm really starting to warm to him these past few weeks.  He's being more positive with his passing (those endless sideways and backwards passes were infuriating and tedious to watch) looks more comfortable on the ball and just as importantly, he's looking physically stronger and tougher and no longer looks like a boy playing a mans game. Just imagine if he had fast, mobile forwards like a Salah or Sane in front of him, instead of two centre forwards who move like men walking on stilts thru mud. He still makes a few sloppy passes, but even Hazard and Loftus do that. We might have a fine player after all and hopefully the fans will start getting behind him.

The fans were 100% right to not like his extreme, negative passing. It was mind rotting to watch game after game after game. What is never right is fans booing an individual on the pitch.                                                                  He's had a tough time adapting to the demands of the EPL but we are seeing a different and better player now! Time for everyone to ope thier eyes to how he is now and get behind him!

OK, here is my honest opinion.

Personally, I don't see him getting physically tougher or stronger. Still too lightweight for my liking. Hasn't got the sheer power of an Essien or the incredible positioning and anticipation of a Makelele, or the awesome athleticism of a Kante, or the all round ability of a Lampard. But there are some signs he is adapting to the pace of the EPL. And I understand, coming from one of the slower paced leagues in Europe, that is not an easy thing to do. No doubt he has a football brain. But he seems to be a player that performs when the team plays well. And when they don't, he will be largely anonymous. For the money we paid and the reputation he came with, we are right to expect much more than that. I hope I am wrong, he seems like a nice guy, but based on his performances this season I don't see him as a leader or even an automatic starter. If Sarri did go tomorrow, I am certain Jorginho's place wouldn't be so secure.

Totally agree. He isn't my cup of tea either. A system player in a team built around strong individuals. He is built for Sarri's system.

I would say he has done better now he is staying deeper and not pressing. His lack of speed isn't being exposed as much. I think his organisational skills are coming to the fore.

My biggest disappointment with Jorginho was how he crumbled under pressure so easily, I always heard about how smooth he was with the ball and immune to pressure. Also, his defensive aspects were pretty poor, mostly his covering, something Matic was excellent for was being in the right place at the right time. But lately, he has really improved on that, I hope it's just a matter of adaption and not a lack of quality, we need to get the best Jorginho to have any hopes of having some success next season.

I blame Rio. People believe what he spits out of his mouth & when came at Jorginho, that is when our own fans started to turn on him. Face it we have sheep for fans.

Jorginho is a class player, the problem is not with him it is with the players around him.

You're right. How have we all been so blind? It is Kante, Loftus Cheek, Hazard, Willian, Christensen, Hudson-Odoi who all suck. We should get rid of all of them instead!! And while we are at it, let's bring back Bakayoko so he and Jorginho can form the best midfield partnership in the history of football and raid Serie B, Kazakhstani League, and Greek League for top talent.

I continues to baffle me, that Chelsea fans listen to Rio of all people.

I never said they "suck". One of the issues Sarri has is that previous managers (Jose, Conte) played a different style of football. They therefore purchased players who lack the technical skill the Jorginho has, that is not saying they are all bad players. It means the are more suited to the style of previous managers.

Willian does suck to be fair.

Jorginho has been very good, his role is simple too so I don’t know how people don’t understand what he’s about yet? I mean you don’t need some big 6’4 bastard in midfield to succeed!

I’d be happy with another 5’6 bastard in midfield like we used to have. He scored f**king great goal in the San Siro once if I recall correctly.

Willian nor Pedro doesn't suck. I'm pretty glad we have them now that we've lost Callum for months and Eden probably for good. Those two are marinated on the highest level. Admittedly we could do better but perfect team players to give Pulisic and Callum time.

Agree, always thought this season one should go and one should stay.

Knowing the situation now I have no issue if both stay a season longer.

There are countless players in the premier league I would replace willian with. If we can't then obviously we don't. But I dont think he's a top 6 player.
