Jorginho is.... (well now was) a Blue

If we are going to serve the ban which is more than probable Jorginho is going nowhere.

Yup. SFL isn't an idiot, he would want a player like that in the team.

This is an example of a bad newspaper needing to write stories. Made up garbage.

"Sarri gone? Bet that jorginho will go with him, let's write a story."

Can't see any reason to sell Jorginho. We lose a lot more by selling him than we'd gain.

Doesn't look like we're signing Kovacic so midfield options are going to tighter.

I personally think Drinkwater is going to get a second chance under Lampard, if nothing else because following Cesc and Cahill leaving the club we're quite low on homegrown players.

£80- £100 mill, can't turn that down if offered.

We can. We have Kante and Jorginho for midfield. Ampadu next. Sell Jorginho and don't buy Kovacic and we can field Frank himself. Ruben comes back probably wintertime.

Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse.

Lampard would definitely want to make his own mind up about Drinkwater but I don't think the homegrown thing will be much of a concern this year. I count 13 non-homegrown players in the current squad out of a maximum 17. That still allows us to add four non-homegrown players from the returning loan-army, assuming we can't make any new signings.

Wouldnt most of the loan army count as homegrown anyway... Bats and Baka excepted..

You telling me you're not excited by the prospect of a starting XI made up of Zouma, Bakayoko, Drinkwater, Willian and Giroud?

Danny, Jorginho, Kante, Barkley, Ruben, Kovacic. 6 midfielders for 3 positions. Sell Jorginho with Ruben being out for a couple of months and we are extremely thin. Kovacic will cost us 50m and he wasn't up to standard imo. Danny played 0 minutes.

I think media is just making sh*t up. They see Sarri going and "his man" Jorginho naturally follows. Jorginho is not Sarri's son. He is a player Sarri trusts. That is it.

But then again, Jorginho's agent comments suggest he's interested in going to Juventus.

I don't think we should count out any players just yet, not until the new manager is appointed and has a chance to evaluate who he doesn't need. Otherwise were going to be at odds with the new gaffer before we even start.

Woah whats with the measured approach dont you know that his place wont stand for that... I insist on hyperbole and shouting

Not 100%sure that he’s wrong for a number of reasons.

First he is already registered at the club

Second, he qualifies as HG for the 25 man squad.

Third, we will need to rotate in games like the Carabo Cup and indeed the FA cup.

Fourth, he didn’t suit either Saris or Contes style and as witnessed at Derby Frank deployed Huddlestone in a role not too dissimilar to have Danny played at Leicester

And finally

Fifth, he may well be so motivated to prove everyone wrong it could ultimately be a defining factor.

We also have Bakayoko, Ampadu, Mount, Baker and Chalobah as midfielders ... and maybe even Van Ginkel if our medical team can sort his knees out ... so if Kovacic isn't retained, and Jorginho follows Sarri to Juve, we aren't necessarily out of options ... and we don't even know what formation the incoming manager will play yet - could be only 2 needed in central midfield ... ?

Good points. Ampadu and Mount are especially interesting prospects.

Yes, we will be fine with regards to homegrown players. So if Drinkwater plays it will not be due to his homegrown status.

Exactly, it's more likely we will register fewer players in certain competitions.

Homegrown "quota", as it's often referred to, is poor nomenclature.  There isn't a certain amount of homegrown players you must have, there's just a limit on the amount of non-homegrown players you can register.

Some would but a good amount of them are too young yet.

Watch the Italy game where he played with Veratti in a 2. That could be how we use him with Kante if he did stay.

I didn't see the game, how did they deploy formation wise?  Sounds like he did well in a 2 with Verratti?

“Chelsea have a four-year contract with the lad. We’ll wait a few days to figure out whether there is any truth in this interest mentioned in the papers.

“His past at Napoli won’t be an issue, because Jorginho is a professional. Right now, Jorginho is happy at Chelsea. He found a great atmosphere and we can’t really say that he’d like to go elsewhere, but anything can happen on the transfer market. We’ll wait and see…”

His agent said that to a italian newspaper today. Sounds like he'll want to go when/if Sarri wants him at Juventus.

but Chelsea has said NO!!! - so much for that but that could be Marina working her magic trying to get more money on Jorginho than Chelsea spent on him from Napoli

4-2-3-1. Verrati played slightly further forward on the left. Jorginho a little deeper but they interchanged.
