Jorginho is.... (well now was) a Blue

Featured Replies

Surprised no one is talking about Jorginho after his performance yesterday. He was fantastic

He was fantastic in this and Brighton and key seems CHO and RLC

Sarris system doesn't work when Jorginho is paired with midfielders who can't bomb forward. Jorginho and Kovacic just simply recieve the pass take a touch, another touch, another touch and pass backwards. This congests our midfield and we are unable to create anything. Two midfielders that can go forward are Ruben and Kante. Kante isn't even the type but he is such a great footballer he can emulate anything.

Jorginho is the anchor that releases our midfielders and attackers to bomb forward. I'm pretty sure Sarri will try and fix this during the summer. Changing personnel might be tricky but we must try.

Loftus-Cheek makes him look good.

I think that's the most logical conclusion.

Nope. Well that is half glass empty view anyway. I think those two complement each other. Barkley and Kovacic are too similar to Jorg. They like to stay put, look around and pass to someone. My point is get rid of Bark and Kova or make one or the other deputant to Jorginho.

Reality is Kovacic is gone and Barkley will play less.

Personally I would like to see Barkley start alongside RLC, Kante and CHO for a few games. For me he offers a lot more than Jorginho; pace, physical presence, aerial ability etc  Can also make a difference when he gets in the final third.

Dear oh dear oh dear. He is inarguably the most lightweight player we have ever had in the middle of our midfield. How hard can it be to tackle Jordan Henderson? Shouldn't be anywhere near the starting line-up for the big games.

Totally agree, it’s a shame but you absolutely NEED physicality in the premier league and Jorginho doesn’t have it. He’s not strong like a matic, he’s not got an engine like Kanté.

If you don’t have the physicality in this league you need to bring something special to the party ala Fabregas’ passing ability. In big games he gets completely overrun and dominated.

Singling him out is just tiresome now he actually had a good game compare to the rest of our midfield

I don't think any of them had a good game, but it was clear to see that Jorginho was really struggling again. He looks rushed and never really looked in control. I blame Sarri more than Jorginho though. It's down to Sarri to identify the issues and fix them.

The midfield has been unbalanced all season. You have one player struggling to cope with the physicality of the league, one player who looks like he is playing out of position (yes, I mean Kante, no matter what anybody else says, we can clearly see Kante looks awkward in this role) and then you have the other side that Sarri can't seem to make his mind up on who best fits that role.

I don't understand why he doesn't just change his tactics. Play around with the formation a bit.

And I am convinced you don't actually watch the games. Either that or you have absolutely no idea of what is required defensively from any central midfield player in the EPL.

He was absolutely dire, dire, whenever he had to do anything defensively today. Christ he looked like a 7 year old at times!

That is the sad truth. During that second half, when we were under the cosh and before we made changes, I thought Jorginho looked like a boy playing against men. So Lightweight it's painful.

Yeah I dont think jorginho was good at all today.

I do think he gets digged out unfairly sometimes though.

When the gameplan was to sit deep and counter, sarri wouldve been better with kante in front of the back 4. I'm not of the belief that kante should play there all the time, but it's got to be horses for courses, and kante wouldve been a safer bet to execute the game plan.

Jorginho is incredibly lightweight, but I still think he cam be an important player, but sarri should pick and choose when we need some thing different in front of the defence.

You're absolutely correct in your assessment. The problem is, Sarri cannot change his tactics without sending Jorginho to the bench, and it's clear that's not going to happen. Jorginho can't play anywhere else, so to accommodate him Sarri forces Kante to play in an unfamiliar role he is not suited for, but Jorginho himself is struggling to play effectively, so the whole midfield is in disarray.

How many times today did he allow us to beat the press, also he made some good interceptions tackles when the rest of the midfield was getting bypassed
