But there doesn’t seem to be a lot of quality keepers out there at the moment who aren’t going to cost silly money and given a choice between investing £60m on a new goalie or £60/80m on a new forward or winger I’d have to go with the attacker. 

I would actually be ok with Butland. Not had the experience of Tibo, but I rate the lad.

Unless we want throw 40-50M at a GK, he's actually a good option. Proven Gk in the league, needs the next step up to knock Pickford off as England Number 1, and the bonus as a home grown player. In the short term it's a downgrade, but unless we are throwing huge money at every position, this is a risk we have to take.

He had a bad injury that kept him out for over a year and last season he wasn't that good.

 

Making him number 1 would be a massive risk.

It is a massive step down but we dont have many options. He is the best of a bad bunch i think is the best way to put it.

He did.. You just have to laugh now, we will end up buying dross by the end of the window because we didn’t get our business done early. This time next we will be struggling to shift the dross again because they are on high wages. Rinse & repeat.

For ages people have been suggesting Butland and some went as far as saying he'd be an upgrade on Tibo, now it could be happening goalposts are changing big time. However this time the posts are now in the right place, he would be a horrible signing.

If it means giving Sarri time like Arsenal gave Arsene I wouldn't mind, but if we expect to challenge by replacing Courtois with butland and sacking Sarri when he doesn't win anything, I would be pissed.

Butland is not Chelsea quality that much we know.

He’s a good keeper but this a massive step up for him. Nick Pope would be my choice if the GK has to UK based

However, I believe we have to look beyond the EPL for a replacement. By now it’s too late though with 2 days to go.

This is what happens with Marina in charge. She failed to seal the Allison deal, the only realistic high quality keeper available, and now she's scrabbling about with three days to go for Butland.

Really, how she's still in a job is beyond me.
