Oh @yorkleyblue, my sweet summer child, in the interests of historical accuracy, I have to confess  that I stole it from Stephen Fry, who used it to describe The Da Vinci Code. This gave me immense satisfaction because I had been trying for some time to convince friends that aforementioned book was recipe written drivel. Stephen  Fry put it so much more succinctly.

It's official mow, just saw it on the Chelsea FC FB page. The only time I want to see him play is in league cup games, keep him the f**k away from the important matches.

He's the third choice keeper, chill out.

It's purely for homegrown status.  He won't even play a match unless something apocalyptic happens.

This makes so much sense - a smart and simple signing. The club deserve a big well done for getting this done.

Oh, I did know that, and actually saw the QI on which he said it, but wanted to give you the deserved credit for popularising it across this intellectual wasteland we  call "our forum".

Wouldn't mind being a 3rd choice keeper at Chelsea and earning 30/40 grand a month beats working for a living... welcome to the family Rob 

We've wasted homegrown spots for a few years on 3rd choice goalkeepers. 

If I were to try to read too much into this signing I would guess that either Courtois is staying or if he leaves Butland, Pickford, Pope won't be replacing him. This signing allows us to sell Cahill and/or Drinkwater. 

Glad we have freed up a foreign place in the squad. 

Hope green never plays though, since he is a pretty shocking keeper in all honesty.
