Let me start this thread off w/ the Gaffer's Press match conference

Watched both Sarri's and Pep's pressers. Pep seems to have recognised CHO he mentioned Hudson-Odoi in one of his responses. Sarri seems yet to be convinced by RLC when asked what he thinks of him. Likely Drinkwater replaces Cesc if he doesnt recover from his knock.

For me Barkley or whoever plays in the Hamsik role is the 2nd most important player after Jorginho. Need that player who overloads the left hand side just like Sarri instructed Napoli to play. Lot of their attacking play came from that side. Hope to see Barkley do well Sunday.

City might win it this time but when we play them again on December I think we will be in a better position to beat them.

I think City is going to be one of the good opponents we are going to play well against. I can anticipate the strugling against Liverpool and United, and much easier games against the peasants, Arsenal and Spuds.

When you look at that side it’s no wonder City are favourites. I know we’ve got two or three players who will hopefully still be here when the season starts proper and who would be in that eleven but, that side shows how far our squad has fallen in quality since peak Roman.

Why would City be more hungry than us? Better than us yes, but hungrier? I don't think so.

New manager means everything to prove for the whole squad, they will be hungrier than ever to impress Sarri for the new season.

If we win it's a nice trophy to start the season, if we lose then whatever... it's only a friendly! ;)

to add to your point, don't forget how many players from Man City are returning from World Cup duty - the might be a closer match than people think

Maurizio didn't deny the possibility of getting involved the World cup players - it's just a friendly, plenty of subs available, always better to perform 10-15 minutes in a game than a just a training session.

Are all the PL matches with ESPN+?

No. Regular PL matches remain with NBCSports and affiliates on regular TV (NBC and CNBC) as in prior years with a few matches on the NBC Sports Gold app ($49 annually).

The FA Community Shield is through the FA rights agreement and so far, there has not been a U.S. taker since the agreement with Fox Sports expired at the end of last season. The FA sold the Community Shield as a one off to ESPN+ while negotiations continue for the FA Cup contract. It appears the FA Cup will likely be with either ESPN+ or B/R Live (Bleacher Report - TBS' new streaming partner). Both are pay subscriptions. B/R Live will have the Champions and Europa League for several years so they may have the FA Cup too. It is $79 annually for all football matches. It is looking doubtful you will see many if any FA Cup matches on regular TV in the U.S. for the next few years. I would not be surprised to see the PL go this same direction in the U.S. in a few years, too. Hope this helps.

Come on you Chelsea!!

Here we go again.

I'll take 1-0 us.

To be honest, it's more hope than any real expectation of a 1-0 win for us today to be honest...

Spoons at 8am breakfast, train 9am, pub Wembley 11:30am, I've missed you Chelsea, welcome back again!!!!

I'm not expecting a win with Sarri still needing time to get our players used to his system, but at the same time we still have the quality to hurt City.

I really hope and pray Morata plays a blinder as it would do him the world of good.

Azpi should be RB, Rudiger instead of Ampadu (who can come on later). Emerson / Alonso in the LB position to give us balance.

The rest are fine.
