March 11, 20197 yr I don't rate Giroud but I do think he would have been better than Higuain. On crosses he is dangerous and shows more willingness to attack the ball at least. I don't think Higuain has been great, like it has been said before if Morata had performed the same way he would have been slaughtered.
March 11, 20197 yr To me Higuain looks like a forward who would be more effective working in a front two. As a lone striker he doesn't seem to have the physical power or pace to cause enough problems for the defenders around him.
March 11, 20197 yr He looks like a striker that’s in the twilight years of his career with his best days behind him... which is exactly what he is. There’s flashes of moments where he looks decent but for the most part he’s not offering much more of a goal scoring threat than Morata or Giroud have.
March 11, 20197 yr The thing with Higuain is he doesn't whine all day and stays on his feet thats the main reason why Morata was not well liked. Ability wise there is not much between Morata, Giroud and Higuain. Different players yes but it certainly helps to stay on his feet. Edited March 11, 20197 yr by Nevamind

He had a chance from a corner yesterday but didn't react quick enough to tap it into the net. That was one chance he should have scored. Then there was Hudson-Odoi's cross after Hazard's goal that Higuain never got anywhere near to. Higuain is not an elite player anymore, he hasn't been for a while now, it's debatable if he ever was. He's had good goal scoring seasons, but he's never been a striker feared by the big teams.

March 12, 20197 yr Passed his used by date, somehow some still believe he will turn out to be our savior. Even his youtube highlights were prior to 2018, he's been a passenger for both Milan and us, let's hope we don't keep him for another season. Sure, he needs better service, could use that excuse for every striker who didn't make it at Chelsea, with 75% possession he still couldn't get on the end of anything.
March 14, 20197 yr His big and only problem is his confidence. And in response of another fellow's post stating that Higuain would be more effective with another striker, it would be nice to try it but on the other hand his best year in Europe was at Napoli where he played with two short, fast wingers such as Mertens and Insigne, who were constantly feeding him with a lot of assists but at the same time were intelligent enough to create spaces for Higuain to score, which is definitely not the case in Chelsea. Besides, let's not forget that the team was struggling a lot even before Higuain arrived, and based on what i saw in both competitions so far, EL rivals play far more open and leave a lot more attacking spaces than PL rivals do.
March 17, 20197 yr My goodness, Higuain is so fecking bad. Just shows on how freaking good Diego Costa was during his time with Chelsea.
March 17, 20197 yr Glad we cannot keep him. Giroud is our best front man as he brings far more players in to the game. With the right players he achieves. Like the world cup.
March 17, 20197 yr 10 games, three goals... all scored against relegation fodder. Hasn’t really improved us as needed, definitely not the answer. If I’m Tammy Abraham or Michy B I’d be expecting a chance come the summer.

March 18, 20197 yr I said before I'd give him till the West Ham game, but I think at this point, he looks well off the pace. The transfer ban might save us in this regard
March 18, 20197 yr Players coming into the English game who are over 30 have historically had a poor time adapting. Whilst there is the odd exception, it is clear that Higuain has neither the skill, pace or the physicality to be a success here.

March 18, 20197 yr I think if we constantly looking to feed him the balls then he will score a lot of goals. But with Hazard, Pedro and Willian as wingers they’re always on the lookout for each other meanwhile not even noticing Higuain most of the time. With that style of play every striker is going to find it difficult. Diego Costa was different because if the wingers didn’t give him the ball he’ll strangle them in the dressing room.
March 18, 20197 yr Clearly his best years are well and truly behind him now, was worth a shot I guess. Hasn’t panned out, he’s slow and way off the pace. Shame really, he was amazing only a few years back

Totally agree, besides it's not like the team was doing great offensively before Higuain came. The main thing is that the team is very inconsistent, chaotic and really poor in execution in general, not just individually. Like i said before in other posts, Higuain's best career moment was with tho wingers constantly moving and feeding him and creating spaces for him. The thing is he only gets 1 or 2 respectable services throughout the whole game, and he's been having the same kind of service in the Argentina national Squad for quite a long time. Of course he could be more effective but it's not like he got many one-on-one opportunities against the goalkeeper, and furthermore if you analize Higuain's yesterday's game you will see that all the chances he got were created by himself almost from nowhere. And another thing that's very underrated about him, he is constantly signalling his teammates to give him the ball doing great movements between the defense but nobody seems to see that enough. March 22, 20197 yr Been rumours over the last few days that we're not going to extended Higuain's loan or sign him permanently. Not seen any reason mentioned within the articles that I have seen but can only assume the club have been somewhat underwhelmed by his impact since joining the club in January.
March 22, 20197 yr I don't think he's been bad personally and with the players we have I think expecting him to be racking up goals is a bit much. He's the only striker we've had since Costa that actually looks like he wants to score, gets into good positions and can actually create a chance for himself. I recall him being a bit unlucky with good saves on a few occasions.

Or maybe they know Sarri is gone so don't want to keep Higuain?
