As we saw with Lampard and Jose sackings the average Chelsea fan is very much heart over head. In some aspects that's a very good trait (like how unless they cross lines and/or trash talk us we appreciate players/managers coming back even if they go to a rival, ala Mata and Cech) but I can't help but feel there's going to be many Rory "we never move from the land of Stamford Bridge" Jennings who just unconditionally won't budge. I can see why people are 100% against a move away from Stamford Bridge, even if it does make us more money. Stamford Bridge is part of our identity, the place we have been playing since the club was formed. Moving away from it just feels wrong and like we are throwing away part of what makes us Chelsea Football Club. I also look at other clubs that have moved stadium in recent times, like Arsenal and Tottenaham, and I don't want us to end up like them. I'm more concerned about improving the atmosphere at the Bridge rather than moving away from it.
May 19, 20224 yr Yeah, can't really see it happening as it seems Todd & The Gang are fully committed to staying at Stamford Bridge.
May 19, 20224 yr If that is the case I can't imagine a scenario where the ticket prices don't skyrocket in the near future.

I believe the site is still available and is probably 3-4 times the size of the land that the Bridge sits on, so there would be no problem building a stadium of whatever size you like there. Can you imagine having a brand new stadium and facilities which blows The Spuds stadium out of the water? Don't know if it would be feasible, but I did read somewhere that a brand new stadium built from scratch would be cheaper than redeveloping Stamford Bridge. Very exciting times ahead whatever happens methinks. I have been watching Chelsea since 1973 and had a 37 year spell between August 1975 and December 2012 during which I missed just one home game, the League Cup semi-final vs Sunderland in 1985. Even then I turned up but could 'feel' an ugly atmosphere around the match and left a little while after I started queuing. I wanted no part of what was obviously going to happen that night. My attachment to the club goes back to 1966 so I write as someone with a serious, lifelong commitment to CFC. Even so... My absolute preference is for a new stadium away from The Bridge if possible. This allows: - Greater freedom of design Potential for a larger capacity with more comfortable facilities for fans, players, officials, media, and guests Potential for further future expansion The benefit of better transport links so getting to and from matches is easier, quicker, and less disruptive to residents, businesses and commuters. To offset a large chunk of the build costs by selling/redeveloping Stamford Bridge for commercial or residential use. To sell lucrative naming rights. Businesses pay less to 'name' existing stadia since they know fans and media will continue using the legacy name. Create funds to invest in the team by selling more high priced packages to corporate entities who will prefer a prestige building to impress clients. To approach the outstanding quality of Tottenham's stadium. (Blowing it out of the water would require alien technology so is not doable currently. 🙂) Edited May 19, 20224 yr by OhForAGreavsie

There is talk of that being a contractual commitment but I hope that they will look with fresh eyes at the possibility of relocation if there is freedom for them to do so. If the conclusion remains that there is no feasible alternative to Stamford Bridge then so be it, We all recognise the vital importance of a stadium. Everton made a disastrous stadium decision in the nineteenth century which resulted in their slip from a dominant position in their city to a distant second. Fulham made an even worse stadium decision in the twentieth century so that, where they were once the best team in London, they are now not even the best team in Fulham 🙂🙂. Don't want us to make the same mistake. Edited May 19, 20224 yr by OhForAGreavsie

May 19, 20224 yr I wonder what Todd thinks watching more of this Turgid sh*t, "Hey aint we supposed to score some godamm home runs, and that big No9 for us looks like a tight end from the NFL....
May 19, 20224 yr Hopefully he’s looking at this realising just how much investment this team needs. Those forwards are absolutely hopeless

We don't create enough and when we do the donkeys miss them. We are too slow, too ponderous and too inspid. TT has to change more than personal. He played a back 4 well at PSG, I hope he does that soon for us and makes room for a creator Ala Erikson.

Come on Norwich! If anything, CL football bothers Conte's style more than anything and the players won't be fully fit to make a run for anything higher. On top of that there is a chance that he brings some versions of Bakayoko to Spurs.

The club should definitely be listening more to fans like you! One of only reasons I'd want to move is that we wouldn't have to play with another 50 years of building work going on around at the same time.

However have to admit that talk a few years back of Battersea Power Station being made into a stadium sounded incredible, so who knows? Would have to be something exceptional like that to even be considered.

Can't see us developing any residential property and even think we will lose the Club shop when they get a round to redeveloping the Shed End. The transport link is interesting as i think under RA's plans there was going to be a direct channel constructed to the tube. Will that come back into play? Commercial use, could see the club hiring out the bars as private event venues yet apart from constructing advertising hoardings that probably do not being in much not sure what other possibilities there?

CPO wont budge, Battersea power station once lost pretty much the nail in the coffin for moving although earls court could sway some, Would have to spend big bags to get the plans and convince all the interested party's, Def something to look out for with the new ownership to see what they cook up etc

The plans they came up with about 5 years ago made it look possible, but it was going to be very expensive. Due to our location etc making the cost to build so high (and probably slow), I'm not sure how profitable it really is. Edited May 20, 20224 yr by TokyoBlue

May 20, 20224 yr Personal preference on the stadium is to stay in the current home, but rebuild in the manner of "the cathedral" design that we had already had signed off by planners. That would genuinely be the best stadium in world football.

I can't think of another area that is even on the cards for a stadium. I'd hate to move any further than that and be very against it.
