May 24, 20224 yr Good job Todd and the board, rumour has it Kounde all but wrapped up as first deal. Also Todd wants to be very active in summer. Edited May 24, 20224 yr by LongtimerLurker

I believe they are respectively 31st May and 9th June. Overnight the reports are that the deal will be formally approved by UK Government today, Tuesday (I thought that they had done this fu**ing weeks ago) BUT now we have to get the approval of the Potuguese Government as RA has a Portugal passport. What about Israel, he has one of theirs I think, do we need their approval too ??? Getting really fed up with this - we need to hit the ground running in the transfer window, as other Clubs will be vying for the players that Tommy T wants. What I still cannot fathom is why the two elements of this sale are still being linked together. The club has been sold as a bid has been accepted. Once due diligence and settlement gas been completed Boehly is the new owner. Unsanctioned. Free and clear to compete with everyone else in the market. The funds then go into escrow and surely it becomes a sanction issue between HMT and EU and RA as the PEP. Surely its no longer an issue for Chelsea FC
May 24, 20224 yr @coco is right. As much as we are not enjoying the delays this takeover is moving at record speeds especially with all the hurdles to jump over. Also Ben @JM7 Jacob's, you still confident approval is in by close of play tomorrow?

May 24, 20224 yr I'll be relieved when the takeover is finally complete, but it is still very hard to get excited about our new profit-thirsty, debt-financed, "super-fan" craving Yankee owners.
May 24, 20224 yr Some reports still expect this deal to be done quickly. Others say the EU are going to delay the process, a "lengthy delay" in fact, out of spite towards the UK gov...
May 24, 20224 yr With 2 governments involved, the sale will be dragged onto last day, and beyond. There wouldnt be any decent free transfers for us by then🙄

What also worries me is some government politicians have connections to football clubs in their countries, and so this could go in all sorts of directions (especially with the amount of money involved). I remember for example calls for some of the money from the lucrative Premier League contracts to be shared "fairly" across Europe. It was dismissed at the time, but scenarios like this potentially hand some power to those that support this kind of thinking. Remember, a lot of clubs are struggling financially, especially since the lockdown period. Hopefully they can separate the sale with the eventual distribution of the funds and avoid "over-reach" from greedy parties. Edited May 25, 20224 yr by TokyoBlue
May 25, 20224 yr By the sounds of things we should have a decent budget for this window all things considered. Players will be sold that's a given and the wage budget will also be loosened with players leaving on a free. It's time to address the elephant in the room. Tuchel said 5 teams will compete for the title, adding in Conte and Utd. It remains to be seen what Erik can do at united, but one thing is certain Antonio Conte is an elite manager and proven winner in this league. It's said that Spurs are gonna back him which is a dangerous prospect and could see them actually challenge alongside the big 2 for at least part of the season. TT and Todd are not idiots they understand that whilst we can't openly say we're gonna try and win the league. That's exactly what they're going to try and do through the recruitment of elite players to supplement the squad. We can't afford to have another summer of missed opportunities. The league is getting harder and just to even make top 4 now you have to be a title hopeful. The teams that start the season aiming for top 4 don't make it, you have to be in it to win it. Whilst Roman's ownership style helped us win major trophies, there's no denying there were a large amount of dud transfers. From the sounds of Todd's inner workings with the Dodgers I think we can be optimistic we will go for the right profile of player.

A Declan Rice and a bag of chips or 2 Lukakus. Spend it wisely please, thought sounds like TT is planning on defenders only.

May 25, 20224 yr License now issued Welcome Todd and that’s RA if only it could have ended on better terms
May 25, 20224 yr Can anyone confirm the Government 100% aren't getting any money from this take over?
