August 16, 20223 yr I imagine they have realised quite quickly that the playing squad value in the asset figure they bought is somewhat overstated ! Certainly not frightened of investing though, on evidence to date.
August 16, 20223 yr I feel like Todd is the best owner we could have hoped for after Roman. Nothing to complain about so far.

August 16, 20223 yr Mount and James set for new 7 year contracts? "Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is implementing a US-style contract policy, locking the club's under-25 players into seven-year deals, according to the Daily Mail. The new Blues regime want to ensure they tie in the club’s best young players - including Reece James and Mason Mount - so that they are contracted for their peak years. Generally in English football, clubs look to secure young talent into contracts of up to five years, but Boehly's vision is common place in American sports." Taken from Sky sports.

Most important players should get at least 4 years extension anyway. Mount and James are our key players so I see no problem with them extending for 5 years.

So far, he has done what he has said he would do. Just imagine if the opposite happened and he started stripping the club of player assets. Doesn’t bear thinking about. You have to be so careful who you sell to. Really glad that Roman out stipulations in there and kind of made it difficult to worm out the bad owners.
August 17, 20223 yr Todd has started doing minor improvements to the Bridge. Nothing major but some upgrades.

August 17, 20223 yr #Chelsea used and stored football data sparsely under Roman Abramovich compared to their rivals. The new owners are surprised by just how little they have inherited. [via @JacobsBen]
August 18, 20223 yr Academy boss Neil Bath has been handed a major role in #ChelseaFC transfer business. New #CFC owners placed full trust in Bath's insight for Chukwuemeka signing, the increasingly close Casadei deal and will continue to lean on the highly-regarded coach for long-term strategy. A remarkable transfer push sees no signs of abating at #ChelseaFC, with confidence high on Aubameyang and #CFC chiefs still working on De Jong, Fofana, Gordon and Casadei

Is it possible to rebuild the stadium without relocating the team? I think the spuds did 🤔 The rest are either built on a different ground or lucked into it

And he deserves it. It's been too long since we've taken advantage of the market in this age group. And now that we're moving to a more data centric scouting approach, it makes even more sense.

August 19, 20223 yr Some good signings so far, but also if the rumours of some of our bids are to be believed, feels like he's throwing cash randomly at targets. Definitely need someone in charge of transfer targets after this summer.
August 20, 20223 yr Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali are understood to remain determined to spend what's required to bring further top targets to #ChelseaFC The #CFC owners are thought to have felt a quiet vindication by the performances of Sterling, Koulibaly and Cucurella in the Tottenham draw The Blues owners do not want to be nearly-men when it comes to either trophies or signings. But at the same time the #ChelseaFC #CFC chiefs have clear limits and are thought to have walked away from a number of deals this summer purely on price

Thomas himself has said he doesn't like the market and prefers where he is given the players to work with and not make the choices. This may mean now he is being actually given choices, he does have targets he admires but not too great at aligning them to the wider expectations of the fans for the long term and seems to be random. This also shows that he never expected the responsibility and didn't have a concrete plan or view on who he will bring into the team and so it seems all make up as we go along from a distance. As for the prices though, I think that one is on Boehly. Teams always try and price players for us so high but if you hear when they bid our own players you will wonder which of the players belongs to a top club and the other one of the other clubs.

Sensible owners invest to grow. United are an outlier in owners looking to asset strip
August 21, 20223 yr I like how everything they are doing seems to be about long term planning, long contracts, building the youth setups etc. This all brings an inherent calmness to the club, which will hopefully give a good solid base to build from... The only worry is we have won every trophy going the last decade based on total and utter chaos 🤣
