August 31, 20223 yr Thought it could be interesting to compare this transfer window with the one that Roman first had: Glen Johnson (from West Ham United) Geremi (from Real Madrid) Damien Duff (from Blackburn Rovers) Wayne Bridge (from Southampton) Juan Sebastian Veron (from Manchester United) Joe Cole (from West Ham United) Adrian Mutu (from Parma) Alexei Smertin (from Bordeaux) Hernan Crespo (from Inter Milan) Claude Makelele (from Real Madrid) Scott Parker (from Charlton Athletic) 2022: Wesley Fofana (from Leicester) Marc Cucurella (from Brighton) Raheem Sterling (from Man City) Kalidou Koulibaly (from Napoli SSC) Carney Chukwuemeka (from Aston Villa) Gabriel Slonina (from Chicago Fire) We're just a DM and RW signing away from making a very huge statement. Don't stop now Todd! Is this all you got? You gonna let Roman best you? Cmon Rocky fight!

I've often wondered whether Ranieri would have been a decent shout as a Director of Football. Probably too old now. Claudio built an amazing squad that Mourinho inherited and fine tuned, and before he even came to us he'd also laid the foundations of a side at Valencia that won the Champions League and La Liga. And that's before we even get to what he did at Leicester !

August 31, 20223 yr It's relieving to see the new owners showing interest and passion and backing the team with a good amount of money and signings. This was probably our biggest fear and its been addressed in an emphatic manner.
August 31, 20223 yr Todd is not afraid to spend - similar to the Dodgers. Have to admire the ambition, and am sure he'll get it sorted on the pitch also. This window gives me optimism.
September 1, 20223 yr All in all, I think with the outgoings, the new ownership has done pretty well in their 1st window. Not perfect, stil scrambling to fill holes in the squad, but hopefully the stop gap signings workout okay, and the big money deals have generally been for really good players. I'm hopeful for the future under them anyway, ambitious start, let's hope it continues.

September 1, 20223 yr Just remember that this spending is possible because of the recent £800 million debt financing that the consortium have negotiated. it's not coming out of Todd's wallet
September 1, 20223 yr Considering the club we’re behind in transfer market due to the sanctions, I think Todd and co have done a fantastic job. They negotiated good prices (for most part), got deals done quickly especially outgoings, cleared a good amount of deadwood. Yes we’ve overpaid for Cucurella but for the most part, prices were fair. It was interesting that Ben Jacobs said that Marina said that Fofana was unattainable during this window. It was interesting that Todd got it done. I wonder if that hints why Marina is no longer with us. It would have been good to identify a long term striker but I think this will come. Our biggest fear was that Todd would get ripped off, signing random players and generally wouldn’t know what he was doing. However he has proved the opposite. Well done Todd
September 1, 20223 yr I don’t think Todd is here to finish second based on his American sports team. It will take a couple windows but he’s here to win it all. Edited September 1, 20223 yr by El regreso
September 1, 20223 yr Back the manager, buys reinforcement, get rid of the useless. Todd knows how to run a sports team, just a matter of time before he fully understand football.

Turns out we are the only team in world football who can't sell a player to Nottingham Forest. Batshuayi is once again a Chelsea player.

There are probably quite a few longer term targets that were simply not available this window. The likes of Gvardiol, Nkunku, Bellingham etc. I mean, if they would have been available, we could have easily seen Raphinha, Lewandowski, and De Jong added which would have been truly insane.

September 2, 20223 yr Todd did well with what he had, just wished we went for a midfielder way earlier in the window. We needed a midfield revamp, it's just a shame it took Kante getting injured for us to move

Don't stop now Todd! Is this all you got? You gonna let Roman best you? Cmon Rocky fight! Making statements is good but if we go back and look at that list of incomings back in the day, most ended up being dud signings. Having been through this experience and having seen it at other clubs (Fulham when they were promoted, Man City on at least 2 occasions), replacing half your starting lineup in one go rarely works out well. It leads to continuity issues and very often poor signings whom weren't properly scouted/researched. If I was incharge I would almost put a 4 (first team) signing limit on the manager and insist on quality over quantity. Hopefully it works out, but given our rotten recent form, all this upheaval might be less positive than we think.

He's a positive chippy kind of guy, but that HAS to knock your confidence LOL. I suspect we'll either cancel his contract and allow him to find another club as a free agent, or send him back to Turkey on loan, where presumably after a decent season last year he will find a few takers. The third scenario is that he stays in the squad as another striker option, but can't see him getting many minutes ahead of Auba, Broja, Sterling and Havertz.
September 2, 20223 yr A detailed statistical analysis of dozens of right-sided defenders led #Chelsea to withdraw from the Jules Kounde chase and turn to Wesley Fofana. [via @TheAthleticUK] Looks like big Todd’s approach is starting to take shape.
September 2, 20223 yr Todd Boehly and Clearlake have been conducting a review of every department of the club, a sporting director will NOT be the only hire within the coming days and weeks. (@TheAthleticUK) #CFC
