DAMAC are actually a huge company unlike the questionable 'infinite athlete' LOL

Its DAMAC and Emaar that do most of the property development out in Dubai. Looking online they seem to have about 5billion dollars of cash in the bank so hopefully we've got a good deal out of this.

Not that I'm the target market for buying anything in a sh*thole like Dubai (with apologies to any of our posters who might live there LOL), but at least their sponsorship has already resulted in me knowing that this company actually exists now LOL.

Sponsors are usually a boring none event anyway. We're only bothered because it been so long since we had one. The other options are either Airline, Insurance, Betting, Crypto or whatever teamviewer is. Probably look cooler if it was a beer logo but they've probably been banned.

I guess there may be value in getting your name on all the photos if we do win the conference league and if it covers the club world cup it'll get your name out there but it's still fairly shameless, doesn't help it's also not the most reputable companies, even by Dubai standards.

Just all a little odd. No doubt the PL will weigh in on the valuation also - they have an opinion on everything Chelsea these days.

Hopefully next year a more traditional, longer term sponsor can be agree. Any sign of stability would be nice, even if just a brand on the shirt!

It seems odd to me that a company that's worth billions who are building apartments for the wealthy in Dubai would want to be associated with a third rate European competition ?

They are now our "property development partner". And this hot off the heels of the mayor of London talking about we need a bigger stadium and wanting to make it happen?

These guys are the second biggest developer in THE UAE. Just behind the state owned top developer. They have buildings in the US and London already, but want to grow more in Europe and North America. They are also loaded.

What better partner to buy out the Earls Court development, build everything around a new stadium, have their name on the new stadium, AND get ahold of the land the club has in and around the Bridge to develop?

Huge scope for them to make money and grow their brand.

I don’t live in Dubai - but feel inclined to defend it.

• It is safe.

• It is clean

• The infrastructure works

• There are no homeless people (or very very few)

• There is no uncontrolled immigration

• There are consequences for real crime (unlike the UK plod who only go after easy targets)

• The schools are good

• My kids can roam the street, without significant fear of abduction or consequences

• Generally speaking, there is religious tolerance.

• In a tiny country, they have 5 international airports - all of which work well.

• The Emirati people are very hospitable, friendly and warm. Happy to speak and rarely rude or impolite.

So whilst I accept that the oil wealth, architecture, bling, low labor costs are not to everyone’s taste - it is not the “sh*thole” that many would like to believe. I do think that jealousy plays a lot into this public narrative.

Abu Dhabi - where I live is even better. All the benefits, without the ostentatious glitz.

The west could learn a lot….

Emaar would have been better - Damac buildings here tend to be worse quality - often built by Chinese and Indian contractors who have a reputation here for cutting corners. My mate purchased a Damac place and it’s been nothing but problems. He is a Liverpool fan though….so deserves it!

As I read your list I was thinking " But Abu Dhabi is much nicer" then you mentioned it!

I'm not a fan of Dubai, as impressive as parts of it are as per your list, but for me, the general impression is that it's a shallow, emotionless, ostentatious display of wealth. However both (all) Emirates are 1st world Muslims controlled and that makes a huge difference to how they're run IMHO .

However this CFC themed development will bomb big style, but hopefully they invest heavily beyond shirt sponsor and it might be good to get some competent people involved at a decision making level .
