He has turned us around, we now play football, instead of get ball.

Roman employed Sarri, he employed him because he wanted Chelsea to play possession football, the players wanted possession football,......if Pep never went to citeh i doubt Roman would of signed Sarri, but Roman knew we had to change when we went to citeh last season and played without the ball for nearly an hour and a half.

Well Roman (and the players) got what he wanted, Sarri has us in the top six with a fighting chance of 3rd, and in a commanding position in the last 8 of the EL. I just dont know what some people expected him to achieve by this point., we are literally the width of the post away from 3rd place.

Summed it up perfectly here. ::clap2::

Good points.  But......…

Where Roman/the board wouldn't back Conte, they likely now can't back Sarri for the next two windows.  And it's not in Sarri's nature to commit to youth players, or rotate some of the second tier players.  Let's say we do finish in the Top 4, or we manage to win the EL.  We're back into four competitions with Champions League games next season without the ability to strengthen beyond having Pulisic come in.  I think we all believe Hazard is off to Madrid, Kovacic & Higuan aren't guaranteed to be here next season, and we know there will be difficulty holding on to CHO.  We could potentially be looking at a worse squad next season when the point of bringing Sarri in was to gradually improve and work toward his philosophy and style of football.  There is potentially another season to be endured where he forces a system onto a group of players that have so far proven not to be a fit for it.

Where I think a change of manager might be warranted is if the transfer ban is upheld, Hazard, CHO, & Kovacic leave, and we are forced to bring some loanees back and play a significant number of youth players.  Should that happen, we may need to look for a manager that is more suited to developing and improving younger players...….

It's clear he won't get the sack until we fail to win Europa league, just like last season with Conte, I hope the patience brings reward. Sarri could blame the lack of quality in the team, but the fact is Arsenal has a new manager with a worse squad, and despite a horror start to the season, they managed to beating us in the top 4 race. Emery may not be a top gun, but he certainly adapted much better and got more out of his limited squad. For someone who's an experienced manger, Sarri's ability to adapt and change is just awful. Anyway, since he's still in charge, let's pray he get it right in the remaining games.
To be honest, getting Emery makes the Arsenal board appear more ambitious. I still can't understand why we got Sarri.
I think at this stage he will probably at least get the rest of the season. And I think he should either way. I'm not convinced that a new manager would make much difference in the short term anyway. I think it would be like Hiddink's second spell
Well, with a new manager, am sure we will win the Europa league but with Sarri, I won't fancy our chances if we get to the final and we have to play either Arsenal or Napoli.

I love the enthusiasm, but after that predictable performance against Everton what makes you think we can finish 3rd?

I really can't see us finishing anywhere above 6th.

I’m really waiting for an answer to my question from earlier in the thread, what have you and others seen from Sarri that makes you think he’s the manager we’ve been waiting for?

He likes coffee as much as I do.

Jokes aside no one has an answer beyond that they don’t want us to keep sacking managers!

That’s not a reason to have faith in this man.

You're right.  The only thing that would have attracted Chelsea to Sarri is the style of football he played at Napoli.  There is nothing else in his background to point to.  And he's been exactly what we all thought he should be so far:  Someone who tries to play pretty, fast ball movement football with a press that has not (so far) led to a trophy.  Except now, he has been trying to do it with players that don't fit his style, in a league where any team can beat you (or at least make it difficult).

Pretty much what @Boston Blue said. If the board aren’t willing to provide him with players capable of his style of football then either Sarri needs to adapt but he seems like he won’t or he needs to be replaced thus giving up in changing the philosophy.

You lost your faith, just like the fair weather fans.

Absolutely, but it's hard not to really.

I have a lot of criticisms with Sarri lately but I still want him to be here next season. But there's more to it, we have a transfer ban due to a political agenda against this club, we are about to lose our best player and we won't be able to replace him, has it ever looked this bleak in Roman times?

It's hard to stay optimistic when you put it all into perspective.

I think Sarri is the least of our problems actually, he could very well still be the man to help us out next season or thrive without the pressure. Because let's face it, how can we expect anything next season with the way things are going.

What is a reason to have faith in anyone?

I am happy with how we have shown glimpses of good football, we've stayed in the hunt for top 4 and reached a final. We've held our own in games against top 6 and look likely to reach a European final. This season has been better than last!

If anyone expected better results than that they are deluded. If anyone thinks a new manager will do better than that next year, then they are going to be shocked when we go backwards.

Results I’m not fussed about, performances I am.

You say glimpses of good football unfortunately in the last 5 months those glimpses have been few & far between. Actually to the point we’ve lowered our standards as fans & get excited about the smallest things.

1. We've completely switched from playing defensive minded football to attacking minded football. I think this is a good thing and it's what a lot of fans wanted.

2. Sarri plays a very intricate system which needs longer than a season to come to fruition.

3. He deserves a pre-season to instil confidence in the system in the players. The players will understand it better the longer he is here.

4. Guardiola is being successful with a very similar system in this league. It works, you just have to do it properly.

5. The players have already started learning this system so to change now would leave us back at square one. The current players already knowing the basics can give confidence to new players/loanees coming back next season.

6. How we are playing now does not hold the hallmarks of Sarri's core beliefs. Ie there is more to come. We will get better. As every players becomes comfortable with their role it will become second nature and the play will flow much more freely.

7. The two current best teams in the league didn't sack their managers after 1 season of major change and they are now reaping the rewards.

I’m guessing most people on this thread have enjoyed the last 15 years of success? Winning trophies, watching great players at times some real attacking fast football. We had all that with all those different managers. Personally I don’t care if we have a new manager every season as long as we win something and put in great performances when it matters. No way do I want a Wenger or Pochettino type manager, what have they won for all their publicity.........F All.

The only way I’m prepared to give a manager time is if he agrees to play our youth then I agree we should be patient and build a future trophy winning side (look at England). Sticking with Sarri with ready made stars is a joke he doesn’t have the credentials to make it work.

Yea well I agree with what you said but just to point out that Wenger did win stuff in the past he's not like Pochetino.

I'm worried that Sarri doesn't care about the youth and is just interested in Napoli players, but like I said before if the club takes the right decisions with the youth we can end up with one of the best squads in Europe in 3-4 years time.

If he can't win the Europa League, he can't win anything.

Plain and simple, fail to win that and everyone knows Sarri doesn't have what it takes to win a trophy, then if Roman still wants him that's his problem but no silverware under Sarri if so.

I don't think we can afford to wait for the obvious, this bloke anint winning anything it's not in his DNA. Need to move him out now.
