Arsenal are sh*t. They were down to 10 men for 3/4 of the game. They had their best player out. We were at home. We were 1-0 up. We should never have drawn that game. If it was a freak result, okay, but deep down we all know in our hearts it was anything but. Sadly it was entirely predictable.

Kante doing a StevieMe impression of Bambi was "entirely predictable"??????  Oh @Davey Baby, please, please, please PM me the Euromillions numbers for this weekend?

I suggest people read through this thread, I know it's not something you want to do because of the negativity. But many people were predicting this at halftime, that we weren't going to win this, meanwhile there was more positivity when we were at 0-0.

I don't think the result was surprising to most people, we've seen this so many times now.

The reason we were dominant before the penalty is that Arsenal went toe to toe with us and we dominated them the same way we dominate teams that try to attack us. The problem is that after the red card they parked the bus and we did what we always do when a bus is parked, we just start passing sideways and sending aimless crosses.

The fact of the matter is that any coach with a brain knows that Chelsea do not have the creative midfielders to break down a bus especially when we play jorginho Kante and kova as our midfield 3. We usually just pass it around and then cross in the box to Tammy who can be easily double marked because he is our only threat for the crosses.

Lampard was slow with his subs and only made them once Arsenal scored. He should have gone for  their throats earlier before Arsenal even had a chance to make a comeback

Is it fair to say that earlier in the season our young guns were playing with more freedom.

Now the realization that top 4 is not only a possibility but should have been sealed up by now were it not for repeated sh*tshows against relegation candidates (and I include Arsenal in that - 2 f**king shots all game and they draw? give me a break) has them cracking under the pressure.

We look so stale in attack it's abysmal, I lost count of the number of time Tammy was on his own in the box surrounded by 5 or 6 Arsenal players.

I was at the game last night and it was weird one. A flat atmosphere for a week night derby game, but some of that was due to the flat play. We also gave that shower from North London an excuse to enjoy themselves. A point at Stamford Bridge against the worst Chelsea side in some time is the stuff of their dreams apparently. It shows how low the bar is set over there.

Chelsea played better against 11 than against 10, creating next to nothing of note whereas Arsenal scored from both their chances. It was cross after cross, corner after corner. I think statistically, we are one of the worst for chance conversion (lots of half chances rather than clear cut ones seems the problem) and also one of the worst for conceding from chances for the opposition. We’re crying out for creativity, a leader at the back and probably a new gk and until that is sorted prepare for more results like this and the doom and gloom that follows.

The game against United next month is massive now and not yet a must win but with Leicester away next it might be.

Agree and earlier in the season Tammy would come up to the centre circle and get the ball holding-off two players and either winning a free kick or playing out a decent ball in space for the wide man to run onto, it would open up their defence. I think this was the period when Kante was injured.

Recently it feels like again we are playing Sarri ball in attack without Hazard.

Our conversion rate is around 23% already (without actually having much encouragement to shoot from distance), the only team that has more shots than us is Man City but they score almost 3 goals per game while we score almost 2 goals per game.

Our best attacking duo is at the level of Everton's Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison.

That was the obvious f**k up. Any one can slip. Its just sh*t luck. But to pile everyone forward when your 1 up against ten men is just the stuff of schoolboys. I don't believe Lampard was telling at everyone to pile forward. That was a lack of awareness on the part of the players.

We played with no intelligence, discipline or calm heads today and paid a deserved price. Even after undeserved getting back in front we were a total shambles at trying to see the game out.

Yes we need more quality in a number of positions but also, importantly, we need a leader on the pitch. There was none of that on show from any of our more experienced players tonight. Azpilicueta, Jorginho, Kante and Rudiger in particular should be providing a sh*t load more control than they did tonight. It was 11 players all playing as individuals. Nobody took any responsibility for getting the team to settle down and not panic.

This.

Knowing what our home form is like and how Arsenal wanted revenge after we beat them in the New Year, I had a feeling this might be a draw.

BUT when they went down to 10 men and we went 1-0 up, it's hard to accept that we let that slip and that's what I'm so pissed off about. I acn accept that we are inconsistent and the fact that some of our players aren't that great. But 1-0 up against 10 men, and this is the crunch, ARSENAL of all teams, how did we manage to f**k that up! Everyone knows how flaky they are and yet because of us, everyone is now talking of the "new spirited Arsenal side".

We should have battered them. When it became clear we didn't have it in us to batter them, we should at least have managed the game to see out the win. We got lucky to get back in the lead late on and we STILL didn't have the brains or ability to see the game out. Where are the leaders? It really is the basics. Get your noses back in front, minutes to go, they've got one less player - just keep possession and wind the clock down. Tammy goes down injured so use that to waste time and get the ball out of play. Any side would do that, but no, not us.

It's schoolboy stuff. Very disappointing and we don't seem to be learning from the same mistakes.

On a side note, I already said earlier in the season, think the Gooners have a player on their hands in Martinelli. Looks the real deal. Wonder if we could prise him away..........

Spot on @Nibs. As soon as the Gooners got level , Torreira was falling down dead everytime someone breathed on him. We get a lead have a player injured and never wasted a second. Tammy could have broke the time up immediately as the ball went in but allowed the retake immediately. He then went down , we had four chances to kick the ball into row Z but chose to carry on playing. Very poor game management, we lack a leader on the pitch.

But that's just it, they didn't look threatening at all.  We were comfortable at the back for the majority of the match.

And I didn't say the whole match we were unfortunate, we were wasteful and out of ideas for a large part, but both their goals were incredibly lucky.  Kante didn't slip, that attack is over, Tammy being able to walk and tackle, Bellend goes back or passes outside and doesn't shoot directly.

And I'm not really picking and choosing stats,  you know I'm very sceptical of the whole stats thing, but you taking a few minutes when Arsenal had 80% possession as meaningful has to be put into the context of the whole match where they had 41% possession.

We were unlucky but we still should have won. Stupid sh*t like Emerson getting sucked up field and leaving NGolo by himself from that corner for example.

I thought we actually played the best before Luiz got sent off. Though at no point did they really threaten though as you say.

I think the reaction in here is more to the trend than the game last night. Happens this time every year when we take our traditional mid winter break while still playing games.

Very good points. We have gotten 14 points from our last 12 premier League. That is abysmal form that has just been accepted due to our wins in the London derbies and with Man u and spurs not taking advantage.

Hopefully this is the turning point because our next 3 fixtures are against Leicester, man u and spurs..

With United losing yesterday we still have a 6 points advantage over them and Spurs. But next 3 games can see us droppimg from top 4.

Next up in the league Spurs at home to City and Utd at home to Wolves both could result in our nearest losing points as it's not only us having erratic form.

Of course an away to trip to Roger's Leicester presents a challenge too.

Spurs may not have taken advantage and they may have been in dodgy form but they've still gained 6 points on us since Mourinho took over. We absolutely have to beat them at home. That is going to be a humdinger.

If Lampard had inherited a decent goal keeper and Hazard or been able to invest in a world class forward/winger from the start of the season we would be competing for the title. As it is we have Kepa and Willian despite all the Willians hard working contributions this season he just does not offer enough going forward. If you had someone hitting the numbers that Sterling, Salah, Mane were capable of doing then we really are not too far behind. Go all out for Sancho and scout a new Keeper then a new Left Back in the Summer and we will be challenging again

Interesting take on our Arsenalification from Liam Twomey that I've seen floating around online. Hard to disagree in my view.

I made this same observations especially around what tye hell is the plan going into to games. At the start of the season we had a plan but it was sussed out very quickly now we are trying the same thing over and over again

I disagree with him on the physical part. We have a few weak players in Pulisic, Jorgi, Christensen, Tammy and Willian, but the likes of Zouma, Reece, Kante are monsters and the rest of the squad is perfectly fine physically.

Personality is another story, but ask yourself this: how can any player develop a strong personality and how can the team accept a leader when we change the lineup every game and nobody feels like a starter? The only two players Frank pushed in that regard are Tammy and Mason (and maybe Kante who isn't known to be very vocal or a leader), but they are both still kids living the dream and Tammy will never turn into a nasty player like Diego. I'm sorry to say this, but imho the lack of personality is down to our manager.
