Welcome Hakim Ziyech

Great finish today - real quality.

That said it was pretty much all he did in the 18+ minutes he was on the pitch. He has to be used carefully as he's not the player you want to see when you are up against it and need to dig deep. As long as he isn't given much in the way of defensive responsibilities, he will hopefully continue to cause opponents problems.

I like the gesture tbh, now he has to justify his growing confidence with more performances like this. With Mount showing he can play in the double 6 it could open a spot in the front 3 to allow us to play Ziyech, Werner and Havertz some games whilst keeping Mason on as well.

I’m pretty encouraged by what I’ve seen in the last few games -  not without his flaws but clearly effective, also seems to be finding a rhythm and the confidence is good to see.

After watching Ziyech last year against us I thought he was an absolute banker as a signing, reasonable fee, in the prime of his career and left footed. I seriously thought he would have a Fernandesesque impact for us but unfortunately in the last few months his form has been more down then up.

He has been targeted in the last few months especially on social media due to his performances but I think people forget that he played a total of 1000 minutes of football in 2020 due to the pandemic and injuries, he has a lazy demeanor about him and tends to throw a tantrum when things are not going for him hence is more likely to be criticized when results are poor. I do believe he is the most creative player in our squad and with the license to roam in the frontline (Thanks Tuchel) it will make it difficult for teams to mark him out of games especially with overlapping WB's. I am still hopeful of a big finish from Ziyech to this season.

Expect him to start tomorrow. Has the chance to be the first player to score 3 in 3 for TT and that form could do both us and him well for the rest of the season. Here's hoping he's about to catch fire and be the team's playmaker or spark in attack.

3 goals in 4 starts ain 't bad.  Maybe should have kept him on vs the Baggies.

Had 2 golden chances and took 1 of them well.

He should have just chipped the 2nd one and our sphincters would have been less stressed

Actually felt he should have took the ball round the keeper myself Deino. He has surprised me with his pace. He is not Werner fast but is quicker than I thought he was. Pace is always a good natural asset to have.

Not quite Robben levels but he really does want to do everything with his left foot doesn't he?

The disallowed goal was a good finish on his right though. Thought he could have taken his second opportunity with his left and surprised he went with his right.

Agreed, that's the textbook way of going about it. A chip will go into the highlight reels in decades to come.

Apparently he was fasting during the game and if true makes the performance all the more impressive especially Considering I could barely get off the safa to celebrate the win whilst fasting.

That is pretty impressive, I’d presume Kante is fasting too. @Valerie was doing the opposite of fasting during the match.

I was eating for two, as they say 😇

As I said in match thread, if CHO or Gilmore had played and been as inept as Ziyech, they wouldn't have lasted the 77 minutes he did.

When he's good, he is an asset and a game changer. But too often he seems very lacklustre and it comes across as a can't be arsed attitude and that's something I can't abide. These players who stroll through games are great when they're producing, but when they don't and appear to lack effort and the ability to dig in, you find yourself looking to the subs bench early in the game.

But on the flip side similar was said about Drogba at times. I remember 11/12 he was getting a lot of stick until the final few months.

Maybe (if his moments Vs Leti and City are an indicator) Ziyech has a similar knack of being slightly on/off during the regular schedule but will come up clutch when it matters.

There are plenty of players you could liken / compare  Ziyech too but Drogba certainly isn't one of them. You wait till @justhears about this!!

Drogba is my favourite ever player but it's easy now to do nostalgia bias and forget that there was many times he went to places like Wigan and looked like he'd rather be anywhere else and it's even easier to forget it took him 6 years to gain full acceptance in the fanbase.

The main point is that Ziyech is showing early signs that he may be able to deliver for us when it really counts, I'm not saying he'll go on and be a legend on that scale or score 12 goals in as many finals but if he can also do what he did vs Leti and City against Leicester,Real and/or CL final then performances like Tuesday will be quickly forgiven and forgotten.

I know what you're saying although I'm not sure it too 6 years for DD to be accepted by CFC supporters?

All I do know is that Ziyech has a very long way to go to be put in anything like that bracket.

I've been to Wigan Argo and I would rather have been anywhere else too. Drogba was awesome. Except on Tuesdays when he relaxed a bit and was happy with just being brilliant.

Ziyech very similar to Drogba. And Juan Cuadrado a Drogba mini-me. Strong. Physical. Good in the air. Touched by God.
