We have made some very poor signings the last five years.
February 28, 20215 yr He was Awful today. His supposed greatest asset is his creativity but all he done was lose possession. For me Havertz has looked a much better option, I agree he needs to toughen up but he looks a player and should be given a run in the team. Ziyech is one of these moody players we simply can’t afford, one good game five poor games.

March 1, 20215 yr Ziyech has not shown enough in the time he has had so far to suggest that he can adapt to the EPL. Seems to need too much time on the ball, poor decision making and not enough creativity. If he doesn't start pulling his finger out soon, his chances will become more infrequent, and he will start veering off into car crash signing territory. The guy needs to start taking games by the scruff of the neck and unlocking defences. At the moment , I would say that he shouldn't be on the team on merit.
March 1, 20215 yr He was bad yesterday, lost the ball most of the time, but I thought he improved slightly in the second half and his attitude was better. But the question is, why was he picked to start? How on earth did TT think that he could be a starter against the team second in the PL?
March 1, 20215 yr He had the best chance of the game, other than that he had a bad game. He's finding it hard to adapt in this system.
March 1, 20215 yr Those few games in between Covid and injury under Frank he was sublime. I think he showed some flashes yesterday. I would like to persevere with him but I think I will be in the minority.

But the more I see of him and his casual / half arsed attitude, he really does seem an ideal fit for that mob in North London. Would they be mugs enough to pay good money for him after we stitched them up on Luiz & Willian? Worth a try!
March 1, 20215 yr Let's give him a bit more time, at least he is getting into shooting positions. If that was earlier in the season I think he buries that chance he had vs utd. He still looks rusty to me hopefully prolonged game time can at least give us a more accurate view of how he can cope in the league.
March 2, 20215 yr Saw great moments but the balls he was losing in the first half, if not for Kante and our defenders doing a superb job, we would be goal down.
March 2, 20215 yr Not managed to win a game single handedly in the 10 seconds he’s been here, best fetch the shotgun and take him out behind the stables...
March 2, 20215 yr Looks like another confidence player to me, prem nowhere as easy as he thought it would be not to say anyone expects it to be a walk in the park but I think for a few of these new signings the intensity has caught them off guard. Hasn't turned up against top opposition yet, however hasn't been fully fit yet. Once he is fully fit and gained some form I expect a different player. He has a certain swagger that when he is on song translates to the rest of the players just look at the pep in everyones step once he came back from injury and we started to gain some steam under Frank. I still think he could be big for us, 18/19 he got vital goals/assists against Madrid, Juve and Spurs that's a big game player for me. Lastly he is the first Chelsea player since Costa two score in his opening 2 games. Imagine what he could do if he stayed fit for a season and managed to hold down some good form
March 5, 20215 yr He was the only disappointment for me last night. At least he looks like he's trying now though.

I wouldn't really say disappointment since he has improved a good bit and I hope he continues to since he - albeit his poor form - is indeed creating dangerous situations and could've easily scored against United and yesterday he had some really good scenes as well. Still can't help but think that Tuchel wants to give Havertz as much time as possible off the field to bring him in once fully adapted and ready so Zyiech to me seems a bit of a placeholder, as harsh as that sounds, until Havertz is really up to speed and at 100%. Otherwise Hakim is a great player in generaly so there is always the hope he recovers his form due playing and then he'll be of great value again of course.
March 5, 20215 yr I thought he was disappointing, didn't create much on his side of the field. A few times the cross came in from the left wing begging to be attacked, he was a few yards behind not really making an effort to get there. If we weren't leading, he'd probably be taken off at HT. I reckon he will be rotated out next time, expect a Pullisic or CHO to come in.

I agree that he was the poorest player on our side and if the PL had allowed for 5 subs he'd most likely be subbed off at HT. I just think in his excuse that the right side with James and him was meant to play a bit deeper and less attacking than the left with Chilwell and Mount. But that's just my guess and he still had these strange totally overweighted passes in him that make you scratch your head. I just don't think he looked as bad as at other times rather than somebody who still hasn't adapted well enough. I'd also say Pulisic looked worse than Zyiech did yesterday but he came in rather late in a difficult match so he's also a bit exempt from criticism for me. Edited March 5, 20215 yr by weetee

That said it was another underwhelming performance. His final ball, which is the main reason he would have played, was poor all night. But, Pulisic came on an offered arguably even less.
March 5, 20215 yr He did play a few decent passes in but that was it, most of them poor, you expect better from him. If you rate Ziyech, I think you can agree with the fact that he isn't a big game player, he just lacks the intensity when it comes to a big clash of heads. It's similar to Ozil and Pogba, they play well in big games when there team is already coasting the game and doing well, when it's a tight game, they're useless and become a liability. I couldn't tell you how many times Ozil was Arsenal's worst player whenever I watched a big game. I still think Ziyech can be a very good signing, I'm hoping we see those past glimpses of him that we saw when he was first introduced. Against the lower-tier teams when he has more service and isn't playing in an intense game, I think he's going to be very useful. In that Burnley game he created about 6/7 chances, something ridiculous like that, he's going to be useful in games like that.

While I agree 100% I'd say he could be one of those players that are rather sensitive and need the feeling of complete backup of the manager. He just looks lost to me and not necessarily because he's uninteresed or doesn't care. I have nothing to back this up but that'd be my hunch. Some players you have to let go through a bad spell of form to reach their true potential again. And this is different with each and every player and one of the truly demanding jobs of a manager to communicate to the public, to the inside/ group and all while being under permanent pressure. Just saying though. Maybe CHO is a player that TT thinks can benefit in the long run with actions like the one at Southhampton (he did handle that well enough after all I'd say) while a guy like Hakim may show a very different reaction to the same treatment. This is all basically conjecture so can be ignored just as well and of course this can't and won't last for a very long time span either since that's how you can lose the locker room. Just a hunch though and as long as we're winning I can to some extent understand that approach. After all he has great potential and can make the difference. Edited March 5, 20215 yr by weetee
March 5, 20215 yr To be fair I completely forgot, but then I watched motd, but didn't he have a good shot cleared off the line yesterday? He was our worst player yesterday, but he seemed a lot better than in previous games, and really would of had a goal yesterday had it not been for that great clearance.
