Welcome Hakim Ziyech

Petulant.

It was clear pretty quickly in the game last night that he was struggling but instead of getting his head down and fighting for the team all I saw was him throwing his hands up in the air to time and again.

Disappointing because I think he has a lot of ability. But ability without desire is worthless.

Ziyech is so frustrating right now. Clearly has talent but his decision making is awful and is putting him and his teammates under pressure. Ive lost count of how many times he has been in the right wing back spot in our half and has given the ball away through a poor touch, poor pass or trying to dribble past an opponent when it never looked likely to work out.

We have to find a way to get him in the right spaces, with confidence and a clear mind. He was my favourite signing after the first few games with great vision and perfectly executed passing but all of that has fallen away and we just have a sulky player who isnt dominating games and cant handle it. Maybe this is the problem with signing a star from a lesser league, he's had it easy for too long and now he has to fight he doesnt know how to/want to?

In danger of turning into another luxury player that doesn't have a role in the team ... similar to RLC in that the idea of him is better than what we actually see on the pitch.

I don't know whether he's a right winger, or a #10 ... but whichever it is, he's not first choice for me. He's behind CHO for right wing, and behind Mount and Havertz as a #10.

Can barely remember him successfully dribbling past anyone for us. Supposed to be one his strengths but he's been underwhelming in that regard too.

I think Lampard planned to have Ziyech and Havertz in the same team with the 433 two 8's but under TT system there only seems to be room for one even more so with Mason going from strength to strength.

I think it's safe to assume Kai will win out due to age/investment alone.

You can have a bad game with your ability but as a professional athlete you can always run and show desire and passion as a given. Unfortunately that was lacking tonight

He probably didn’t fancy it on that pitch Richard, shows how good Pat Nevin was, on our old pitch that use to resemble an unkept council allotment! On a good day he may of been covered in sand!

Comments from Ajax fans when we bought him where mostly that he was a very good player, but had problems with his attitude at times. Don't think this is something he's going to change. So he needs to either start putting in better performances, of he'll be off. Though to be honest, if he were thrown into City's team I can see him flourishing and being one of their best players, he just doesn't seem to suit what we're trying to do at the moment. Perhaps Tuchel will find a better role for him.

You reckon he will fit into their 1st 18? Can’t see it, up to this point he looks lazy, doesn’t press the opposition, and very careless in possession.

Looking back at our performances under Lamps you kind of wander if Pulisic & Ziyech bothered turning up, he still might be here. They both were his untouchables, and have both massively underperformed this season.

He's a luxury Player

Does'nt do the defensive side, and furthermore doesn't WANT to do it. His range of passing is excellent but just lately we're not seeing it and he's been very disappointing.

You can tell what sort of game he's going to have after his first few touches.

Once we see the REAL Havertz there wont be room for him in my opinion

He’s a very technical player so maybe playing on that pitch completely put him off his game, like Zeta said we already knew about his attitude problems when things are not going his way.

Hes been injured a lot so far and that can also play a major part for his frustration, in recent interviews he really seems like he want to succeed here.

i think we absolutely need him on our team, people are crying out loud that Werner and Abraham’s runs are not being tracked by our players and Ziyech might be the only one tries balls behind defenders and he’s by far our most creative player.

Did he have a bad game yesterday? Yes maybe the one before as well but I really think he never got going since he joined us and that must be really frustrating for him. If we are gonna use the  excuse of new league new country in a pandemic for Havertz and Werner then maybe we could apply it with Hakim as well, let’s not forget that he was a good friend of Nouri the Ajax player who was in a coma and now the family are having trouble with Ajax so that could also play a part.

Finaly Ziyech is the only player in this squad that can actually score from outside the box which is something we dramatically need.

The biggest problem Tommy T has so far is w simply are not creating enough decent chance in 4 of our 5 games so far. (Spurs being one we did but failed to take them).

Yesterday we got 1 shot on target, Sunday we made Ramsdale make 1 save from a sighted buy Rudiger.

This is not good enough and finding the right combination to deliver that killer finally pass to allow for shots at goal is key for us stepping forward. Cause like this we wont score against Atletico.

So whether it is Ziyech, Mount, Havertz, CHO or whoever we need to find a combination that creates these chances, and quickly, otherwise when we do fall behind in games it will be all she wrote.

While I do agree with a lot of the things said on here I have a few points to note on Hakim.

Firstly I believe his effectiveness hasn't completely been maximized in this current set up, like with Christian I think Ziyech is much better on the wing its not to say they can't play in the half spaces in the floating 10 role its just not their best position.

Ziyech is at his best when he is running at players, looking to come inside on his favoured foot and release a cross field ball, cross or shot from right to left.

The thing about this 343 is that Ziyech and Pulisic operate in a lot more congested area thus giving them less time and space.  This means one of their greatest assets (dribbling) is nullified due to lack of space they have opposition players in all directions.

Add to this the fact both players were injured, struggling for form and in a relatively new environment with a new manager and system I think we can be a bit more patient to see what they can do when afforded time and support.

343 doesn't suit half of our attacking players but it does support the overall squad,  with players like CHO and Puli able to play lwb and rwb it puts more emphasis on the less adaptable attackers in this system like Ziyech to perform in the only position he really fits.

Finally I saw that the mail is reporting that Juve and AC are monitoring his situation and I thought isn't funny how quick these rumours start after a few lackluster games he did after all look good under Lamps before his injury.

Yeah I mean I wouldn't trust daily mail seems like the standard sensationalism but it does highlight the problem with modern football, the guy has been at the club 7 months and already papers are linking him with a move away.

Like with every other player he has to prove that not only is he capable to compete at this level but he has the drive to do so and put in the hard work, covering tackles, pressing and so on. Only time will tell with this one whether he has what it takes to make it, but I think its dumb that articles like this are already being made.

Disagree with that. When he made his return from injury in October, and he was rewarded with his first start he scored against Krasnador and generally had a good game. He then few days after, played against Burnley and scored a goal and made an assist. Another top game. Sheffield United was his best game for us. Star of the sow that game. Had 2 assists which really should have been three but Werner missed an easy chance. Probably would of gone down as one of the assists of the season. Got inured against Leeds quite early on but it was his magic that set Reece James away to assist Giroud which got us back in the game.

Got rushed back against City which was not the wisest decision in hindsight. Albeit, Morecambe are in L2, impressed against them. Thought he was arguably our best player that game. So I would not say there have been any outstanding players at all this season. All have had their fair games of bad performances. Mount is an exception as he is probably the one player that has probably been better than the rest but I think all of our new recruits have had games where they have looked poor and also had games where they have looked really good.

All of this new attackers that we signed really annoy me, it looks like all them used to be the biggest start in their old team so they don't work defensively.

I much rather have willian/pedro, when they don't produce offensively at least they still press and protect their fb.

What I meant by that was playing by 3-4-5 games in a row not that he hasn’t played well at all for us.

We usually make more money loaning players out than selling them. It's why we do it.

As long as the fees are big enough. Going back to players like Veron Crespo Shevchenko Malouda Marin these players had varying degrees of success, but all left for free. Got to make sure going forward we look at contracts more carefully

How on earth do you know what contracts are?

I guarantee you, we would always sell someone if the value was higher than what we would get for multiple loans.

That's why when we sell, we always get a good price. And when we loan, it's because we aren't getting a good sale price.

We do get paid for loans. They aren't free.

I doubt he's going on loan from what I've heard he has a really good bond with the squad from when he was injured.

He just needs to find his feet, I think he is actually the opposite to Werner in the sense that with Lamps I think he prefered having less tactical instructions (with the attackers told to go out and express themselves and be free flowing) now he has to adapt to the tactical instructions of Thomas.
