Don’t get me wrong I’m a massive fan of Ziyech but I’m not sure where he plays in this system. In my book he competes with Mount for that spot right in behind the strikers, if we go on playing like we have in the last 3 games. If we play like we have against Wolves, he is competing for one of the inside forward roles.

I know he has the skill set and delivery but in this system it’s vital the two behind the strikers continually press.

Ironically CHO was the one deemed too lazy before, now he is somewhat indispensable. Callum has shown amazing maturity and a willingness to learn which is a credit to him. Has upped his work rate and has bulked up a bit which makes him very strong on the ball and hard to dispossess.

Tuchel's style should suit him and the left foot opens up options that others don't have. Challenge remains that he and Havertz seem to take up the same positions on the field. Makes it hard to play both and I suspect that Tuchel will be under strict instructions to play and get the best out of the rapidly depreciating 80m asset rather than picking on merit.

Maybe his niggling injuries have blunted his pressing this far and as he gets fitter he will fit in just right. agree about his wand of a left foot. The minute we get what we have to or buy someone who can get on the end of some wonderful deliverers of the ball we have in abundance in the squad the better! Edited February 8, 20215 yr by turnyitb

The minute we get what we have to or buy someone who can get on the end of some wonderful deliverers of the ball we have in abundance in the squad the better! We have some very good delivers of a football at the club now. Not least Ziyech and James. For whatever reason at the moment we seem to have three strikers that would make a top striker if you put all their attributes together. Hopefully we address this over the summer if we've got any money left!
February 8, 20215 yr Fully expect him to start against Barsley in midweek. I think he needs the minutes to build up some match fitness. He's got the potential to be the creative outlet we need in the final third that we've been sorely lacking but the constant niggling injuries have prevented him from putting any sort of runs of games together. He seems like he could thrash a few in from outside the area so it's disapointing he hasn't racked up many goals for us yet.
February 9, 20215 yr This is a weird one I'm hoping Tuchel is resting him to get him fully fit for the run of fixtures we have in March and later this month. I'm assuming its the same with Pulisic, he wants both at 100% and then we may see a more attacking formation in time.

As you said,he has barely played.I think the only time he had a run of games was around October/November and he was great. The rest of his season was just constant struggle with injuries.
February 11, 20215 yr Absolute horror show tonight, not for the first time either. At least Werner works his arse off when things arent going well, Ziyech just pouts, shrugs his shoulders, walks about and then loses the ball again. Body language is poor aswell. Hope he isnt sulking because he has been benched for a couple of games, because that is a sh*t attitude.
February 11, 20215 yr Since him and Pulisic pulled out of the Everton game in December, they've not been the same since coming back. I'm not too concerned just yet, Ziyech maybe a little since we've only seen two good games from him.

I keep saying the same thing but I am getting concerned about Ziyech and can see him being offloaded early. As I said in match thread, he has the swagger of Hazard but nothing like the ability. You don't mind seeing a player stroll through games when he's a match-winner but Ziyech is stealing a living with performances like tonights and won't get selected with too many no-shows like that.

I thought that out of all of our signings that he will be our key player this season because I knew prior to him coming that we don't really have a player that can pass the ball like him. I expected way more from him specially since last season we did create a lot of opportunities so for me having Ziyech there instead of Willian meant more goals and more assists coming from him and from that side... But IMO he's struggling, maybe he shows up in the CL but so far he hasn't settled well in the PL yet, he looks way too soft.
February 11, 20215 yr Well we found out tonight he can't do it on a cold night in the North. Looks extremely lightweight and his workrate and body language is incredibly poor. I can see him being shipped out in the summer before his value plummets.
February 12, 20215 yr He's certainly flown under the radar as Timo and Havertz takes all the flak. I haven't seen much from him at all, probably only marginally better than Havertz but that's not saying much.
February 12, 20215 yr Have to say he's been really disappointing since the injury, lack of work rate and more importantly not creating enough in the final third.
February 12, 20215 yr You can have a bad game with your ability but as a professional athlete you can always run and show desire and passion as a given. Unfortunately that was lacking tonight
February 12, 20215 yr 65% pass accuracy lost possession 25 times lost all 9 of his duels failed to complete any of his 3 attempted dribbles. At this point Tuchel should be trusting Anjorin & sitting him on the bench at the minimum till Ziyech & Pulisic sort themselves out. 2 goals and 4 assists between the 2 of them by Feb is a piss poor return.

That reads a performance of someone who did not wish to be there.

Doesnt surprise me - i think after a point he simply gave up..
February 12, 20215 yr This is another situation where injuries and a new league haven't really helped him, but he has to put in far more effort than he did last night and his passing overall has been pretty woeful and predictable. We do need a much better striker than Tammy or Giroud upfront though, I wish we could find another Drogba / Costa style player. Haaland is the perfect fit for us but we'll have a lot of competition to get him.
February 12, 20215 yr Not having this chap, didn’t look like wanted to be there last night, Werner and Havertz get sh*t, Werner tries his bollox off, this bloke a couple of good crosses this season and that’s it, . He doesn’t want to be here, simply out of his depth, swanning around in the Dutch league playing two hard games a season, is a far cry from the premier league and fa cup games.
February 12, 20215 yr Great chance to impress the new manager and give him something to think about in terms of his best XI. And then he goes and does that. Unbelieveable.
