Welcome Hakim Ziyech

I never judge players from youtube highlights, but as soon as I saw Ziyech's compilation, I knew he was a great signing.  His ability to deliver a good cross, free kick or through ball are a massive asset that will benefit us a great deal.

I know Havertz is starting to look really good, but it is interesting, I was having a chat with friends and I said despite more hype around Havertz, I reckon Ziyech will adjust quicker and I said people are not going to know what hit them and early days but he looks sensational. His left food is something else. He will be challenging KDB for assists I reckon. Really and truly the best assist of the match which will never be, beause Werner hit it wide was the lofted pass that Ziyech did for him. That deserved a goal and another assist for Ziyech. Top player. £32m or £33m, around there. Call that bargain of the season.

Definitely looking like the bargain of the season. United fans are kicking themselves knowing they wasted a whole summer on a 120m winger and we only spent 30 for ziyech’s class

I was beginning to resent Willian in the last couple of years. I had respect for his time and effort at Chelsea but he just wasn’t anywhere near good enough and I sighed when he was starting games.

Ziyech is the opposite. He had such a poor first 20 minutes where nothing worked and I said he’s the type of player you know will create something anyway, let alone pull that performance out the bag. The smiling, the laughing and the continuous joking with team mates. He’s going to become my favourite Chelsea player.

Upon rewatching the game. He actually adds energy and workrate along with actual quality! A huge upgrade on Willian.

His addition adds a huge change to our team dynamic and adds another dimension to our attacks.

With his deliveries, every one of our players can score.

I knew he was good but didn’t expect him to outshine our higher profile german signings the way he has. He’s great to watch, and he just seems to enjoy himself on the pitch, which makes him immediately likable.

Ziyech definitely looking like the most exciting player in the league, let alone the club, right now. But why do so many of the comments have to be about Willian? Can the thread not just be about Ziyech? It’s that spoilt-kids-cursing-and-throwing-away-last-year’s-Christmas-present-as-a-better-one-comes-along thing again. Not a good look and not something your ancestors would be proud of. Never forget: a) Willian’s contribution to Chelsea over the years; and b) we were only able to replace him with Ziyech because our owner has an obscene amount of money.

Why are people mentioning the guy he has replaced in the team? Well I wonder ...

So people shouldn’t mention the upgrade on Kepa which Mendy provides?

People shouldn’t mention the upgrade on Alonso provided by Chilwell?

If you’re offended by that you should maybe refrain from football discussion. People will always compare players.

See point a). Willian put in many great performances, scored crucial goals, worked incredibly hard on the pitch and and deserves credit and respect for it. Cant say the same about Kepa, though there too I think there is too much scorn. You might also want to think a bit about point b). Don’t be that person.

Who is forgetting them? People acknowledge Willian is a good player and maybe even on the cusp of world class in his day BUT

People also remember the countless failed crosses and the mindnumbing decisionmaking he always makes.

Contrast to that, Ziyech always tries to find the final pass, runs forwards and best part of Ziyech is he demands the other players to work their arse off.

The delivery for Kova and Chilwell for example, when has Kova ever went so far up the field to pull back that Ziyech through ball and now our players are always on that back post. Prior to Ziyech coming in, Pulisic is the one who always attacks the back post.

You can't help but see the huge change we as a team are making

Instead of continuously moaning on the internet about football fans being a) spoilt or b) like kids at Christmas.

It’s not the first time you’ve weirdly used this on this forum. It’s strange.

Fans will always compare players, that’s the nature of football. The Messi v Ronaldo debate proves this. Therefore it is no surprise or weird coincidence that fans will highlight the improvement Ziyech provides over Willian considering they played in the same position.

Saying Ziyech is a massive improvement over Willian doesn’t take away the impact Willian had on some occasions. It’s just a weird thing to complain about but that’s all you seem to do on here.

Fair response. I guess what irks me is a lot of fans seem to take a lot for granted and some of the comments I’ve seen have seemed a bit disrespectful. We’re incredibly lucky that Chelsea gets to replace a player like Willian with a player like Ziyech when many teams (including the Chelseas  of yore) couldn’t even dream of having a player like Willian.
