Willian is so unpredictable from a neutral perspective. Some days it feels like he's carrying your attack, but in some games I wonder what he offers. Similarly with Giroud - his highlight reel will be better than Van Persie's, but he goes invisible half the time and then suddenly comes up with lovely flicks, finishes and backheel layoffs. Just beat Vardy and his foxes and we're good. Thanks in advance.
July 14, 20206 yr My conclusion is 3/4 of our Back four cant play football, and 1/4 of our back 4 are not accomplished defenders........

Loftus looking lost and completely off the pace. Best to just let him train with the lads for the next couple of weeks and start fresh in the pre season. Positives - Crucial 3 points. Defense had an easy night and no comedy errors. James and CHO looked enthusiastic when they came on. i thought that too. Very fatigued and nervy performance. That said we play a totally different way with Kovacic and Jorginho than when Mount and Barkley play so there isn't as much movement in behind from the midfielders. Ruben I think is still rebuilding confidence in his body. Receiving in tight areas and running at the defence hasn't quite come back into his game yet. Agree on Willian though. Always holding the ball at feet and looking to then beat his defender with a burst of acceleration, slowing the game down and letting Norwich get their defence reorganised. 3 or 4 times in the second half a quick pass to a runner in behind was on and he just held the ball. His worst match since the restart and again a reminder that despite his skill on the counter and his ability to keep the ball under control in tight spaces he can be maddening.

There was a moment I think at 91mins when James plays a lazy cross field pass back to the keeper from about 30 yards out and I held my breath, fortunately no-one read it. Yes, it was an alarmingly casual moment. At that point in the game I'd rather see him.just hoof it than play that kind of ball.
July 14, 20206 yr Thought Alonso´s run into the box was good to give Pulisic a bit of space for the assist. 1vs1 instead of 1vs2 for Pulisic.

If Leicester win their next two, they go two points ahead of us, before we play another Prem fixture. We could draw at Anfield and v Wolves, and they finish above us on goal difference. Scenario 2: Wolves win their last three games ( beating us on the final day). We draw or lose at Anfield and they finish ahead of us by a point (if we lose at Anfield) or on goal difference if we draw up there. Leicester play Sheff U and Wolves play Burnley. Difficult games for both which could alter the above scenarios. Edited July 14, 20206 yr by Backbiter

He’s been better than last Season but you’re still left asking yourself after so many games - neat and tidy but what did he actually do? Doesn’t score, doesn’t create goals...won’t win big trophies (PL or CL) with him in midfield You can get away with a Kova type player if you have the devastating front three of Liverpool.

July 14, 20206 yr Boy that was hard to watch. And literally as soon as the full time whistle went, my cat sat on the TV controls and turned the TV over. Cats aren't stupid - he knew we'd suffered enough but just wanted to make sure CFC had won

So if they lose the last game as well we might just be 4th anyway. If foxes and satans play a draw that could be acceptable as well as long as we don't lose against the wolves. So my line of thinking is to simply stomp down on Leicester, 1 win in last 3 games only and we are 4th most likely unless in the scenario where Wolves would win all games before the last game in which case we would need a draw only.

Their form since the restart has been atrocious ,they also have Chillwell and madison injured and now their best defender Soyunco is suspended for 3 games. If wolves drop points away to burnley tmrw we are practically in the UCL
July 14, 20206 yr Leceister is in terrible form, agreed. If MU and Wolves dropped point on their next games, I think it's 90% that Chelsea is in top 4.

Presumably to get in to the competition where the cream of Europe play each other, and we can barely scrape past a relegated pub team in order to get there. Its no wonder we get a drubbing by a proper team like Bayern as this appears to be our true level. This was a match coming off the back of a 3-0 defeat the points was the important thing. Next season we have several players coming in that will improve us, how we achieve top 4 given there are so few games left us irrelevant.

July 15, 20206 yr On the NBC Sports feed, the discussion was Chelsea's inability to kill off the game. The analyst noted that Norwich City really posed no threat all game. "I don't remember Kepa making a save" That statement is usually accurate win, lose or draw ?
July 15, 20206 yr Essentially all we need to do is get the same number of point as Leicester who have 3 hard games, of Sheffield so is a favour after wiping the floor with us we will be sitting very nicely. I’d rather get 3rd however so that OGS doesn’t get the media objectifying him as this dynamic talented manager that we all know he is not.
