Edouard Mendy to Chelsea!

Its funny seeing keepers now comfortable with the ball at their feet. I remember when the rule was still in its infancy in the prem and we signed Ed De Gooey, the panic on his face everytime the ball got passed back to him was hilarious....then the fear in the fans as he got the ball was terrifying 😂

Still one of my favorite goalkeepers. True big man and such a personality.

Absolutely, a fantastic gangly armed, porn star looking goalkeeper.

I have to say that I'm quite satisfied with him as our keeper. Does the basics well and is at least decent on the ball. Overall above average but complements the team really well.

Now up to 14 clean sheets in 24 starts  (vs Kepa 1 in 6 and Willie 0 in 2).

Not really given Tuchel any indication of he is good enough yet though. 0 saves needed against Wolves and Burnley, 1 against Spurs.

He's a world class keeper when the other team doesn't take any shots.

Although I still think with kepa in goal, we'd have still somehow conceded at least 2 goals in the last 3 games.

He has been disaster free so far, and kudos to him for that. I'll pick him anytime over Kepa. I just thought he occasionally looked a bit static when opponents targeted the left or right side of the goal. In all occasions the ball went wide, so it could have been just a case of me fretting while Mendy knew the ball would go wide. It frightened me though.

Yup. He makes the saves he is supposed to, which is more than Kepa. The save at full stretch against Spurs would have gone in if Kepa was in goal, because he is too short.

Our defence at set pieces has improved a lot with Mendy too.

He has been so much better, but not disaster free for me. Everton's pen was on him.

Happy with him so far. He was a little bit shakey for a few matches about a month ago, but he’s recovered from it now. He makes the saves he’s supposed to make and He’s quite decent claiming crosses. I’ve been pleasantly surprised with his ball playing abilities as that was supposed to be his weakness.

He is not world class for me, and I doubt that he would get in many other premier league teams - but, a) he has been an improvement on Kepa, and b) is a big man that can claim a cross, and the knock on effect of a + b, has made our CBs more confident and less jittery.

He will do, for now - but hope he can prove me wrong, and turn into a  Rolls Royce of a keeper and a club legend.

I think you're being a bit harsh to be honest, we look so solid defensively with him and you never have such a solid back line without complete confidence in your keeper.

He also makes saves after not having much to do for ages which is a vital trait to any team hoping to challenge for the big one's. The one criticism i have of him is his technique with penalty's but other than that very happy so far.

We have been spoiled over the years with keepers - but this guy isnt up there for me.

Would he get in other EPL teams over Ederson, De Gea or Henderson , Schmiechal, Allison, Loris, Pope, Patricio, Martinez, Leno, Mccarthy, Areola, Fabianski?  I dont think he would. Perhaps he would get a game at Everton, Sheffield, Brighton, Leeds, Newcastle - but he isnt in the top 6 keepers in the EPL for me - which is a problem if we want to challenge.

He’s definitely better than Pope, McCarthy, Areola and Fabianski. I’m not a fan of Leno either and on current form he’s better than de gea.

De Gea of 2021 is a mess, he absolutely is an upgrade on him, Henderson is talented but makes mistakes at crucial times. I'd 100% prefer him to Patricio, McCarthy, Areola (who's basically the Morata of keepers)  and Fabianski (who's a good shot stopper but has already shown he couldn't handle it at a top 4 club when at Arsenal), i would probably say Leno too as he's very dodgy with his crosses and i don't think he'll be a very reliable "one moment a game" keeper, his reputation has come from keeping a bang average Arsenal in games with excellent shot stopping, totally different ball game having to keep goal at the top (as Shay Given found out when he went to City). Pope likewise is a shot stopping type of keeper who excells when more busy.

The only one's I'd definitely put above him are Ederson, Allison and Martinez.

Solid performance. Does make me nervous with the passing out, but he seems to have it under control. His passing his probably better than Kepa. Only recurring weakness is he loves to charge out in the box area.

This is probably the only thing I dislike about Mendy so far. He does love to charge out and he is often quite far off his line. The chance for Sheff Utd yesterday in the first few minutes had him well off his line. If that was a better team, they would have been able to bend it around in him into the near corner or chip it over him.

You could say if he didn’t charge out yesterday then he’d have got a foot to Rudigers ridiculous brain fart. The other side is if Rudiger didn’t touch the f**king thing Mendy would have claimed it at his feet. Basically - f**king Rudiger!
