I can't imagine there are scouts out there, at any club, who are right about all their recommendations.

Somehow I don't think Marina has been watching Bilbao games in the hope of spotting talent.

Mendyyy first 5 games = same as Cech first 5

Big Pete had a better back line than Mendy does as well.

Through 6 matches:

The guy is good. He makes it seem like he's been with this defence since forever.

A rock at the back. Really admire the way he carries himself on the field. Make no mistake that early Burnley chance was somewhat thwarted by his quick movement out and big presence. He seems a brave character. 

Probably the easiest clean sheet he could get (don't remember Burnley having a shot on target) but he dealt comfortably with crosses and corners.  Refreshing having a keeper who can do the basics when called upon.   Makes a world of difference

 

 

Think our scouting team have found another gem here 

He may have had no shots to save but he closed down the angle quickly against Barnes when it was still 0-0 and came for crosses and commanded his area.

With Kepa in goal that could of been 2 shots on target instead, might seem like a small thing but that's the difference Mendy makes when he's in goal.

 

He scared the sh*t out of Barnes. Had it been Kepa there, we were down by one for sure. When you are good keeper the reputation starts playing for you. 

When you do your job well, everything just seem to look easy.

Now, let's put Kepa back in there and see if things are as easy as they look.

 

 

The more you look at it, the more you can't help but think getting top 4 last season was a miracle... 

Apparently Mendy isn’t put in goal during finishing training in order not to deplete the confidence of our attacking players.

Mendy. What a boss!! With him, either RB, Silva, Chilwell and Zouma playing i legitimately feel we have the best defence in the league now Van Dijk is injured. Great work from our recruitment, a world of difference! With the amazing attackers we have i actually think we are a shoe in for the league this year.

Mendy looks like a proper goalkeeper, and sadly, Kepa looks like a CM that has been asked to play in goal after the keeper has been sent off.

Just as VVD gave liverpool a large lift, so Silva has done for us.

And just as Becker gave Liverpool a massive lift, Mendy has done for us.

Probably the biggest signing of the summer for me. I know we had higher reputation and more expensive players come in and even Silva who has been fantastic in a problem position. However, the importance of having a goalkeeper that the team can rely on is immeasurable. I feel like even without Silva we would have improved on the amount of goals we concede but having them both has had such a massive impact. It feels good that when a shots coming in, I don’t automatically think “goal”.

Another game, another clean sheet. Standard.

Living the dream.

Last season getting a clean sheet was almost like winning a trophy it was that rare. The difference right now is just staggering I can't get over it.
